For some time now I have been passing various carved animals on to family members so that I knew it had gone to a good home, plus any old family photos or documents that my own direct family did not want to keep.
I am trying to make things easier for my family when the Grim Reaper calls, plus I know whatever is passed on is wanted and will be looked after.
Anyway way back in the 1950s hubby and I had this barometer bought for us as a wooden gift for our 5th wedding anniversary.
I have always loved it although it is not made of wood.
It has always had pride of place in the hallway of anywhere we lived.
Yesterday I asked my neighbour to take a photo of it because I was going to see if anyone would like it with it being vintage.
She said "I have always loved this barometer since I first got to know you and Cliff and I hope you find a good home for it."
I said to her " I said in that case if she liked it she could have it with my blessing because I knew it would be going to a good home."
She burst into tears and gave me a lovely hug saying that it was one of the nicest things to happen to her for some time.
It not only lifted my spirits but it made the day better for her.
Funny how one can know a person for a long time and still not know them. A daft statement but true.
