had my appointment cancelled for this friday, was asked to phone to make another appointment,it was face to face with a doctor,,so phoned today,,the soonest i could see a doctor was april next year,,really,
the soonest i can talk on phone is 30th january,,wtf, because they cancelled,i have to wait 5 months,to see a doctor.
is the health system like this in other parts of the world.
ok iv had me moan lol

I have rarely had a doctor reschedule an appointment, but when it did happen, I was rescheduled in a timely manner, and it was never for an important appointment.
It does take several months to actually get to see my cardiologist, but I can usually see his assistant a lot sooner, and she can talk with him about any concerns she has.

I had similar ...they made an appointment for June this year..and then cancelled it , and rescheduled for October.. I got there.. was kept 2 hours waiting to see the Doc who talked so fast and wouldn't even pause to let me say something.. and I was back out in 5 minutes.. with a ''Make another appointment to see me ''.. ringing in my ears.. and then found because I was kept waiting I got a £100 parking fine... cuz I'd had to park in the staff car park.

New appointment is for November 2024. One year hence

they do the same to me. mine had emergency surgery in oct. and is on half days for now. next available appt isn't until jan. do they have a physicians assistant that you could see or an aprn?

i think we just don't have enough drs for all these people so they're having to rush through our appts. maybe they cancel cuz they don't have enough time to see everyone. like my office alots 15 min. per patient. but then they get in there and get someone that's a jibber jabberer and it takes 45 min to get them out. screws up the rest of the appts.

Oh, yes. I had a cardiology follow up scheduled for mid July. I was called the week before and told that the doctor "wouldn't be in that day " and I'd have to reschedule.

I was thinking ok, maybe the next week but nooooo........they're scheduling in November. November???? Ok, I rescheduled for November. In October, I received a letter that he had left the practice and they'd contact me about a new appointment with another cardiologist. Never heard from them.

After a couple of weeks, I called the office. No surprise there....They're scheduling appointments in February.

I found a new cardiologist, needless to say.

When I had to see a specialist & I couldn't get in to see them, I could see their assistant (PA or CNP). Any rescheduling was done in a timely manner. It's sad you have to deal with this when you need to see your doctor.

Maybe depends on the condition.
I see a specialist for my thyroid. Appointments are a year apart.
I've had an appointment scheduled for 11Jan24 ... well, since 11Jan23
If the upcoming appointment gets cancelled, I'd expect a prompt reschedule within oh, a month or two.
Thyroid isn't killing me so there's some leeway there.

If I were unhappy with scheduling of my specialist, I'd likely try to see a different one or at least find out when the next available appointment was with a different one. We aren't so bad off around here that there's only one specialist ... although I do have to drive a 50mile round trip to see one.

I too see my Thyroid Specialist once a year. She is not terribly concerned about my condition. She said it was a matter of "Watch and Wait", for what I'm thinking. She did reschedule me from last month until tomorrow, so that was okay by me. My last CT scan showed nothing to be concerned about.

Nope. It is not the jibber jabberers that cause the jam. The doctor took a longer lunch than his usual two hour lunch because he couldn't play through for his golf game. Neither the doctor nor staff must work hard. Instead the patients take the consequences.

My mom had a telephone appointment with her doctor. He never telephoned. He had forgotten about the appointment. If my mom had missed the appointment she would have been charged for it as a missed office visit. But, the doctor had to pay nothing nor did he reschedule. The patient takes the consequence of bad physician behavior. Bad behavior goes unpunished so bad behavior repeats again and again.

Solution: Swoon in the parking lot nearby where your doctor parks his car. He will then see you as he steps over you to get into his car on his way to his lunch time golf game. Then you can say you were seen by your doctor.

In the offices of medicine AI is taking careful aim. Doctors may think they are indispensable. But just you wait. The technicians apply the treatment. The nurses help you and solace you. The doctors gather information and make a diagnosis. Which do you think AI will replace with a machine? The doctors. Just you wait and see. Time will tell.

I wonder how much he'd charge for a parking lot office visit.
