Now I live in Tennesee. Did live in Michigan.
Been in hoapital against my wishes for seven days. They said I had a stroke and found no stroke. Had to lay in hospital bed for seven days had a alarm to let the nurse's warning them that I was up and leaving my bedroom without permission. Is there someone in government I can contact for compants against hospitals for miss treatment? Hospital wouldn't let me call out to family or friends. Hospital wouldn't let me take a walk down the hall. Head nurse told me if I don't do want they say I will never leave hospital. Hospital was run by mainly young 20-25 year old's. Hospital has a history I found of miss treatment against the elder.

There is much to complain about in today’s corporate hospitals that put profits before patients. Even those caling themselves non-profit are very profitable for those at the top. However, with all their poor service, I haven’t heard of one who says you can never leave. It is my understanding you can leave any of them any time you wish. Have you tried calling a taxi and just walking out? You must have access to the Internet or you wouldn't be posting on here.

Hospitals are dangerous death traps and have been that way for a very long time.
I would definitely pursue charges against them, and do your best to stay out of them from now on.

I tried to call but hospital put block on phone. I have UMR insurance which they like, If I had no insurance they would kick me out. At this hospital people are dying every day from the virse and they don't even try to save them. Hospital is a teaching hospital and has over 400-600 employees. I'm out now but I was stuck in hospital for 7 days against my wishes. They let me out I think because I told them I'm filing bankruptcy and they wouldn't get no money. I don't have medicare yet. I've never have filed bankruptcy before. My bill so far is over 10,000 dollars.

YIKES!!!!! I would not contact anyone in the Government - I would contact an attorney.

Yes! This has happened to me 3x!
I have noticed that there are locks on emergency room doors
Which long ago when I had used 911 to take me to the ER had not a lock at all.
Now since 2019 I have noticed that if I felt like leaving because three hours went by and no one appeared to take care of me that if I felt I wanted to leave I could not because those exit doors were locked preventing me the choice to go home.
 
@Robert59 is it possible that you had a Transient Ischemic Attack? My mother used to have those. It's a mini-stroke. She would have one, my dad would witness it, she would be taken to the hospital and the doctors would find no trace of it afterwards. TIAs typically do not cause physical damage but they do affect memory over time. Just want to make sure you take care of your health and are given the appropriate medication if needed.

Maine Medical Hospital had their way with me I felt as a numbered piece of meat. No doctor introduced to me just a quick, " oh I see you have handled your high blood pressure yourself and got yourself off the meds" NOT! NO way near the truth.
This within. After minutes looking over my chaRt that was typed up after waiting for 5 hours in a regular waiting room when I was brought in by a regular 911 rescue team
I did not have meds because I had no way to get into Dr. Too get high blood pressure meds.
Story goes on much more horrors with issues I FELT was poor service for I was left with a more vague feeling of not mattering to any of these medical career personel.

Hospital did all the stroke tests and it came back as neg. I had no pain in head also. Hospital doctor had no idea what happened. Doctor did losts of test toward the end of seven days but found nothing. Also I had fear I was going into a nusing home against my will. All it takes is a doctor to say your not fit to live your home by yourself.

The 2nd time a young woman in her 20s took my same vital signs again after four hours wait she did not know how to take blood from a person only resson why is I LOOKED OVER TO my left arm and blood was all over my arm squirking out faster than she could stop it as she made a call with her other hand for a fibotomist however you spell it. To do the work she failed. This after she reprimanded me that I was disrespecting her because I was not being positive with her.
I felt that she took a controlling stand with me to erase the facts of her services not asking me for more blood samples. Just started putting more stickers on my body when I told her I already had stickers from the initial sign in four hours ago , she said,, " oh. Well
I need to add my own stickers too.
The man looked at my arm where you could see blood had seeped under my skin from her mistake and he said it needed to be taken care of which wasn't.
There is more to this person after she returned me to another hour of waiting just for a bed in the ER. All this was told to me by a emt that took me into that learning hospital that the closer hospital was too full to go to thej ER learning h ospital instead.

Glad to hear that there were no medical issues. Very sorry to hear what you had to go through in the hospital.

Any healthcare organization cannot force any treatments on you, PERIOD. You can sign yourself out AMA (Against Medical Advice) and walk out the door. If they don't allow you to.... it is called KIDNAPPING. Now you lose your right to sue them (unless there is GROSS negligent on their part) should you end up with issues.
The ONLY person that can force you to stay and take treatment... is a Judge.

If you're concerned about being held there too long I would definitely discuss this with your dr. If there was no stroke what were they doing? Running tests or something? Also if you leave AMA you risk being "fired" by your physician. Meaning they may refuse to see you anymore.

I'm really sorry. This sounds like a nightmare and I'm glad you are home.

I've thought what I will do if I'm ever hospitalized and they want to send me to a nursing home. I'd rather go home and die there if I have half my mental faculties.

You just have to sign yourself out absolving the hospital of further responsibilities for your health. In all my years in the medical field this has been the procedure.

I have also never heard of any hospital that can hold someone against their will unless they are there under court order. If you choose to leave and the medical staff do not approve of that decision you do however have to fill out forms as you stated and on your chart it will be stated that you left against medical advice.
