Hospital Ratings - Do you know how well your hospital rates?

I found a site that rates hospitals. It's called Leapfrog. Here is the link to check your hospital's rating and other hospitals' ratings:

ratings.Leapfroggroup.org

Write the name of your hospital in the search section. Then go down and check its safety.
They get a grade from A to F. Safety includes how often people get infections in the hospital like C. Diff, or UTI, or infection in the surgical site, or even sepsis. There is much more information.

I researched my own hospital and was pleasantly surprised that it got an "A" rating and that some hospitals you would think in the larger cities are better, but they did not all get an "A." There was much more information, and it compared my hospital to the average rating. But overall, the rating was good. Of course, one should not choose hospitals from just seeing a rating, but it's a good start and gives you ideas of what to look for in a good hospital, like patient safety.

Thank you for posting this, @palides2021 . My hospital's grade was B. Luckily, there is a hospital only 6 miles further away that has an A rating.

The hospital I hate the most, Emory University Hospital, rated C. For the 3 years prior to 2025, 6 ratings - 5 were Cs and 1 was a D. It wasn't like that when I worked for Emory's medical school 50 years ago. I was a patient there more than once, and it was a very highly regarded facility.
 

Yes, Kaiser Permanente's Santa Clara Medical Center Hospital is highly rated as is my personal experience with Kaiser Senior Advantage (Medicare Part C). Just had surgery May 1.

Our closest Hospital has A rating, my sons (which is supposed to be one of the best) has a B and the one my grand daughter works at has a C.
Just cause they huge guess it doesn't mean best. The family keeps trying to scare me away from this one close, I think I am good.

Emory has bought up so many hospitals in the area that one rating doesn't fit all. Tomorrow I have a procedure at an Emory hospital in Dunwoody.
 
Mine isn't listed. It shows other hospitals 35 - 40 miles away, and those have good ratings. The hospital in my town is within walking distance from my house - but they have limited staff and ER capabilities and usually refer something major to one of the other hospitals.

A good thing about a small hospital is that time for being seen is usually much faster. Theyā€™ll ship us out if more help is needed.
