HOT Texas!!!!!!

Yep that's hot ..Ken. We're at 90 degrees today, but with no AC in the house, only standalone fans....it's HOT!!!!!
Fortunately we had a new central air installed last May!! It looks like a Netflix week!!

Same here in Houston, Ken! We still have August and its usually our worst month. I have a new central a/c too. Hope we can pay the electric bill!!

That's hot. I just returned from Las Vegas and it was like 106°-110°. Was there for only a few days. That's long enough and glad to be back home where it's only 90°. We are in need of rain badly.

I often gripe about the summer's here in Phoenix but I'll take our temps over those temps in Texas any day ! Triple digits + humidity = Yuck.

Our humidity is not bad, we are in drought condition!!In 2011, June, July and August, we had 67 consecutive days of 100+ degrees!! Even outdoor grilling was banned!!

"It All Depends On Where You Were Raised" I live in Houston, TX and I was in Buffalo, New York years ago on business. After my work was done at this company I was waiting in the lobby for some paperwork. The receptionist said to me, "Sir, since you are from Houston I'd like to ask you how you people get to work in the summer. Do you all just get on the freeway then your cars overheat and break down every day?" She had the the tone like we were all crazy for living in Houston. I replied that we manage somehow thinking to myself "you live in Buffalo and you think we are crazy?" Also, working for the same company i was scheduled to fly to Mucsaday,(sp) Wisconsin but that morning of my flight they called my office and told me it was 45 below zero up there. Needless to say I waived the meeting.

I HATE Texas in the Summer, and I've been here forty years. It's hard to leave, though, when you have family here and your businesses thrive.

I’ve only been to Texas once and it was in February.
My favourite part was swimming in a pool that was partially indoors, partially outdoors and it was lightly snowing at night. The cool, crisp air, the sparkling lights, the steam from the water, the flakes of white made it a magical, memorable time.

I met a lot of really nice people there. My only complaint was that there were NO sidewalks ANYWHERE. What’s with that ?
Being a walker it’s nice to walk on paths designed for walking. Looking around I also realized that most people in Texas probably don’t walk:laugh:

One of my friends lives near Texas and she is often complaining about the heat. They are fairly poor and cannot afford air conditioning. She’s older than I am and is on oxygen so I worry about her.

Stay safe..

Brrrrrr, a cold front rolled in last night and we're only suppose to reach 94º today......looks like me and my homies will need to break out the long johns.

I remember that. Our grandson was born Aug 31 over in Jackson, MS and we delayed going over to see him for several weeks because of the fire danger. Remember all the big forest fires going on then, I remember all the Forest Service tankers at Longview, and seeing some skimming and picking up water at Lake 0 the Pines. As dry as it's getting now, I hope we do not have a repeat, but weather report just said highs next Mon and Tue was going to be a frosty 88, with 60% chance of rain.

I have been getting up before sunrise and going walking and humidity is pretty bad then around 75-85% that early, dropping as day lengthens and gets hotter.
