These were state lawmakers although it doesn't matter. The suspected killer not only posed as a cop but his vehicle was made to look like one. Or could be a real police car. And now reports the police actually engaged the suspect in a firefight before he escaped.

The planning and killing them at their homes seems very personal in a way. Somekind of affair? An angry ex? Also heard some of the victim shot several times which could represent somekind of anger towards the victims.

Hopefully they catch this killer because they have nothing to lose now which makes them even more dangerous.

RIP victims

A second state lawmaker, Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, were shot multiple times in Champlin. It appears they survived.

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (AP) — Police have recovered writings that mentioned the names of multiple lawmakers and other officials in the fake police car they believe a suspect used in the shooting of two Democratic legislators in Minnesota.

Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said that the writings that were recovered identified many lawmakers and other officials. The writings were discovered when officers searched a phony police car they believe the suspect used.

The police found the shooter just after he had shot and killed Rep. Hortman, her husband, and even their family dog. He was leaving their house to get away in the fake police vehicle he used to make it appear that he was law enforcement, and the real police arrived as he came back out the door. When he saw the police, the shooter started shooting at the officers and then ran back inside of the house and escaped, but the police were able to impound his vehicle and find out who the shooter was.
He is now on their most wanted list. The suspect and his wife were both people who had been appointed and worked for the Minnesota government and were appointed by Governor Walz.
This is from the FBI most wanted page on X.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz: former House speaker and husband killed in politically motivated shooting
This is so heartbreaking, and very, very disturbing. May they rest in peace and the other victims heal both physically and mentally. Sad state, others are fearful of even running for office if it means risking the lives of themselves and their families. Not the place I was born and raised in.

"Boelter is facing two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder."

Why not first degree murder when it was so pre-meditated and cold blooded? I wonder if Boelter is expecting to be pardoned since the perpetrators of the Jan 6th violence were pardoned?

Those charges may be from an earlier story? You can bet if the elements are present, he will be charged with full force. Any Governor, here, MN, who would pardon such person is through, politically and socially, period.

The District Attorney made a charge they knew would stick. That gets it to the Grand Jury. Then it is up to the Grand Jury to issue the first degree murder charge. They look at all the evidence and make the correct charge which will be first degree without a doubt. Then after a trial, the trial jury will weigh the evidence and find him guilty. Then the judge will issue his sentence.
