Or, with the bigger jars w/too tight of a lid....to open it, tilt it almost upside down. Tap the lid w/the end of a fairly sturdy knife all the way around. This should loosen it enough for it to come off easier.

If anyone has some tips for wearing in new shoes I am all ears.

My wife bought some really nice leather shoes but the backs of the shoes rub hard against my ankles.

I have heard of wearing two pairs of socks but any other methods?

Not sure you want to try this but I once got caught in a rainstorm with new shoes. After squishing around in them for some time they learned to conform.

I do that plus use a gadget and hunk of rubbery material but my housemate simply whacks the bottom of the jar with his palm.

I use cup size canning jars without shoulders and screw tops for freezing everything from chess to salsa and sausage. Portioned, no need to use another dish. Tiny porcelain spoons.

If you are feeding strays outside, make a moat with a foil pan with some water and place a smaller dish with the food inside. It will keep the ants away.

Good old WD-40...
I read something, so I tried it, and it worked wonderfully. Half the time, it's just about cleaning the glass doors. I sprayed WD-40 all over the inside of the glass and wiped it with a fibre cloth. It took a bit, but it cleaned all the hard water, soap, and scum off the glass instantly. Now, I do this weekly, and the glass is getting easier and easier to clean.

If your grandkids write on your walls with crayon. marker, or pencil... Spray WD-40... and it comes off. It will also remove paint from metal.

Also, it is great for taking the bugs off the front end of our vehicles and will not hurt the paint...I've tried all that I wrote, and it works perfectly...

WD-40 is only flammable in the can... Will not burn once it is sprayed on wood, metal, or paper...

When I cook ground beef - for chili, spaghetti sauce, burritos, etc. - I hate big chunks of ground beef. So I use a pastry blender after it has started browning, to make the chunky pieces tiny. Then I wash it in the dishwasher because it has come in contact with raw-ish meat.

When prising off a jar lid like this... most people will slip a knife into the lip on the lid, and try to push the lid off... don't do this. Instead, slide the knife next to the lip... and the lid will pop off easily

Running the jar under a hot water tap opens it instantly.

If it doesn't move and IS supposed to, use WD-40.

I keep my SOS pad in the freezer in a ziplock bag. Prevents it from rusting.

Depending on the recipe, instead of chopping onions I use a potato peeler to to peel thin slices.

Baby wipes are very efficient at removing small stains on clothing, upholstery, car seats and the like. Just enough moisture to moisten the area, gently rubbing to dislodge the stain.

The most efficient way I’ve found to remove grease stains on clothing is to saturate the stain with dawn dishwashing liquid, let it sit for a few minutes, wash as usual.

I keep a Swiffer duster sheet, and those little ones individual envelopes of eyeglass cleaner wipes in the console of my car. When I’m going through the car wash, I use the duster sheet to dust everything I can reach, and an envelope or two of eyeglass cleaner wipes to remove fingerprints, drips etc from the windows dash area (I have touchscreens on my dash)

I keep a spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide in the laundry room. Ron is forever beating himself up when he works and sometimes there’s blood on his clothing or the sheets. The peroxide dissolves the blood after a few spraying. You can see it bubble when it interacts with the blood.

There are more I think, but these immediately come to mind.

There are gizmos (very low priced) available on the Internet to help you open jars and bottle caps. My biggest problem with that is opening pill bottles when they forget that I'm not on the "child proof" list. Usually the bottle opening gizmos don't work for that, but they do for everything else.

I also resort to the "running the bottle cap under hot water" trick, and if that doesn't work, stick the sharp end of a "church key" can hole puncher thingie under the rim of the bottle cap, breaking the vacuum. Works like a charm.

I take an empty Dawn dish washing soap squeeze bottle and fill it about half an inch with the soap. Then fill the rest with water and mix it up. When doing dishes I just squirt a little out in a dish or whatever and dip my brush in it to wash everything else. A bottle of Dawn lasts me forever.

I usually have a plastic bag handy when peeling all veggies for the peels, with the onion I peel it inside the bag, tie it up tight and chunk it...no tears and minimal smell.
