Household "How did I not know this"

With YouTube I have learned so many household tips and tricks. I wish I could go back and show my Mom some of them.

Some things I learned on my own. For example we've always heard not to put tomatoes in the frig. This year I bring my tomatoes in and at the first sign of them going bad I stick them in the frig if we can't eat them that day. We had some refrigerated cherry tomatoes today with red onion and they were just fine.
I'm not big on canning and I've dried some of them and I don't want to waste them . Better to lose perfection than to throw out.

Cleaning windows. I always have used paper towels. Always and they've always been ok. Today I tried a microfiber cloth. Omg, so much better, and one towel instead of a bunch of paper towels. No streaks.
I bet you knew all this!

I saw on YouTube a few months ago someone cracking eggs by just dropping them from a small height (approx 5 inches) onto a plate, so I tried that and it does work just fine and now I'm not having to worry about a too-fragile shell causing an egg white drip on the edge of the counter.

I never use the fridge for tomatoes, but I have always used paper towels to clean the windows. I will now have to purchase the microfiber cloth.

I've always used newsprint to clean windows, using ammonia solution. Works TONS better than paper towels. First I've heard of the microfiber cloths -- will try it next time.

Storing tomatoes in the refrigerator knocks some of the flavor out of them. But seeing as most of the store-bought tomatoes these days pretty much taste like cardboard, I'm not sure there's much of a difference. So in the fridge they go.
