Household tips needed!

We have very hard water in my area and I've used cleaning vinegar on things, including the cat's water dish. I put some empty glass jars in the bowl (I use a glass corning casserole) so the vinegar would get up to the water line, the worst area. Let it soak. Scrub. Rinse well.

A 50/50 mix of white vinegar and tap water is a useful cleaning spray around the house. Vinegar poured on weeds will kill them . JimB.

I don't know where in the heck I got that it was coffee.

I must have overshot my nap time.
There were several posts that mentioned they also had coffee and tea stains on their cups. Your brain probably just picked up on the coffee comments and forgot about the soup! ;)

If coffee stains won't come out, neither will the Comet.

The acids in the coffee literally ate teeny tiny pits into your cup's glaze. Soaking it in bleach will bleach the stain, but anything you use will stay behind in those tiny pits.
@Murrmurr You just convinced me to use another cup! I have so many extra ones in my cupboard that I am embarrassed about even bringing up the subject. But it was my favorite cup! So I am old and set in my ways! :)

Nope, an ordinary run of the mill cup! I could easily replace it but am too stubborn to do so! :) Could I use Ajax or Comet on that? I haven't got a clue when it comes to cleansers. I do okay when it comes to cooking, though!
I agree with Nathan. I've used Ajax or Comet on coffee mugs before that were stained and it worked very well. Just rinse thoroughly, good luck.

you might could try this... fill a shallow bowl with about a cup of warm water, then dissolve a denture cleaning tablet in the warm water, invert cup and soak. let us know which method worked. I, too, have a favorite mug, so I certainly understand...

I use bleach and water, but table salt rubbed
round the inside of a wet cup will also clean
it like new.

Mike.

Its not coffee that is his problem. Its soup.

You can toss a couple in your toilet to clean out stains too.

Last year I was surprised to find "cleaning vinegar" in gallon jugs next to the bleach. It 's less expensive than using my white cooking vinegar and it's stronger. I use Comet on my coffee/tea cups like Nathan does, but use the cleaning vinegar for big jobs.

I use it full strength on my vinyl siding to get the green slime off the north wall. Just dip the sponge in full strength cleaning vinegar and it slides right off. I had scrubbed and scrubbed with other things and it didn't budge.

I did pick a new cup and made sure it was a large one, so I could make two cuppas for breakfast! Here is the strange thing. I measured the new cup carefully so that I would have the same cuppa soup and water ratio as before, and the soup tastes different!

Your old cup has been 'seasoned' by all the sup you made in it. It will have a better flavor.

I have the same problem with the mug of hot chocolate I often drink at bedtime. Putting the mug in the dishwasher doesn't get rid of the chocolate stains on the inside. It doesn't matter which mug I use, they all do it. It washes out if I just wash it by hand, with ordinary dishwashing liquid and a sponge, but it's annoying, and I also wonder what the inside of my stomach looks like! But I love it. I make it in the Keurig.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of stains around the rim of the mug I use for my Cuppa Soups? I tried dish washers, dish detergent, heavy scrubbing, but the darn stain stubbornly remains. Would it be safe to use a cleanser!
I always use Baking Soda with a little Vinegar, make it into a paste and use a good coarse cloth to wipe over the stain, rinse in hot water.
