How Adventurous Are You?

You've never in your life eaten liver or scallops? Or Spam? Or sauerkraut? Bacon wrapped scallops would have to be like my favorite meal ever. :giggle:
Nope never have. I had some Salmon once and I ended up in the ER. Turns out what I thought at the time was a massive asthma attack (I had it bad as a kid) was I'm allergic to fish. The Docs told me no sea food and I haven't given it a second thought since. I'm just glad I'm not allergic to Beef, because it's what's for Dinner.

Although I earned the Least Adventurous t-shirt prize, with just 3 from that list, I have caught, dispatched, cleaned, and pan bake-fried many trout while out on multi-day backpacking trips.

Golden trout, oncorhynchus aguabonita, from a Kings Canyon National Park wilderness lake at over 11,000 feet.

Bones removed, mixed in with white rice and salt, the red meat flavor of mature goldens is similar to fresh salmon.

Wow, ant eggs is a new one in my book! I have had fried ants and fried grasshoppers, but the one that surprised me was from a local Thai restaurant in one of the suburban shopping malls. They offered fried silkworms, which are a common street food in Thailand, apparently.

They were quite good - thin crisp skin, soft and slightly starchy inside. About the size of a Cheeto, but lightly seasoned with soya.
