How are you today?

Welp. I was up "later" this morning, not until 7:30, so I decided I'd throw on my grubbies and get my bony butt out in the garden to do some long overdue cleanup. I was merrily working along when DD leaned out her door at 9:30 and wanted to know if I wanted to go grocery shopping. Yes. List of stuff I needed and besides that, I hadn't left home since Monday.

Okay. We did that, but not until she made an unscheduled and unannounced detour to Aldi and a couple of passes through the Aisle of Shame. Maybe she thought I'd give her the side eye for spending $$ on whims? LOL !

Then to Publix for the weekly BOGOs. Total $$ damage between Aldi AOS and Publix? Almost $200. I will admit that with coupons and discounts and such, she shaved a good $50+ off the total.

By the time we got home, I was too tired to head back to the garden, and it was already getting pretty warm in the sun. That stuff will still be there in the morning, right?

A nap might be in order this afternoon.

Tired and foot-sore after spending yesterday at the House of the Mouse.

Yeah, I know, what kind of idiot would spend an August day at Disney World? This idiot.

It was someone's birthday and it was free. I like free and I like the birthday girl. So....

I had a great day! AND I got to ride the Tower of Terror TWICE!

Exasperated with myself. Grabbed a frozen pizza to put in the air fryer. Removed the cardboard bottom and didn’t see any paper attached. Note, I’m visually challenged and these new glasses aren’t helping. About 4 minutes into cooking, I spotted the paper. What a *&%) mess. Got it out and managed to cook it as a blob. At least we had lunch and there was no fire involved.

@Kadee, let me preface this with: other than knowing some areas are prone to extraordinary droughts, I'm woefully ignorant about Australia's weather. AU is big country, so weather likely varies considerably from one region to the next.

Given that, I'm curious about the weather you experience. Is the weather you mentioned above typical for your area or is it rainy season?
Thanks for the opportunity to tell you a little about Australia , I have a fairly extensive knowledge of Aust climates
As I’ve traveled to each and every state and territory in my country of birth

Let me say first of all South Aust is the dryest state in Aust ….we get a fairly low rainfall compared to parts of New South Wales/ Queensland and Darwin however allot of the WORLDS food is grown in SA , relying on rainfall only to grow cereals crops that are shipped all over the world from a port some 50 km from me

It can rain any time of the year , on average we get 8-10 inches a year …we get often get a thunderstorm or two during summer, we are now at the tail end of winter 🥶..it’s been freezing 🥶 this year , ( with only light ish rainfall, )

the alpine areas in NSW got more snow this year than they have in years ( hubby and I went in a snow trip last month ) to thread bow ..NSW
as I’d never seen snow …..I’ve called South Aust home since the early 1970’s …moved about 600 km from a very isolated area in NSW

Where I grew up in New South Wales…600 km from Where I live now , we got rain maybe once or twice a year …
So it was/ is very dry.

we don’t get snow here …it’s been known to have a have a light sprinkle in winter in the Adelaide hills ( cap city of SA ) but it melts before it hits the ground .

and most rainfall during colder months are usually light rains …we get excited if we get 1/4 inch

We’ve only recently got rain after 18 months of next to no rain …

Two small and fast-moving tornadoes 'likely' hit Adelaide's northern suburbs

So we dont have as such a thing as a rainy season in SA ..that’s reserved for the humid areas of Aust ..like Queensland / Darwin / some parts of N S W .

In SA we grow soft fruits and citrus but it has to be watered to irrigated from the river to grow , unlike tropical very humid states who grow bananas / mangos / sugar cane and the list gos on and on they get enough rain to grow crops ….and have a wet / cyclone season .
NSW also grows cotton but relies on / irrigation/ water pumped from a river water to do so ….

Is it okay to laugh if I mention, I accidentally put a frozen pizza in the oven WITH the cardboard still on it some years ago? ;-)

In any case, I can relate! ;)

I wanted to add this map for anybody who's also unfamiliar with Australia's layout. Thank you so much for the detailed explanation, @Kadee! (I had to look up Darwin and learned it's at the top left section of the Northern Territory.)

My knowledge of AU comes mostly from reading Jane Harper novels, some movies (notably Tracks) and AU series that Netflix and Amazon have shown. Would love to read more good Aussie authors - any recommendations?

It’s time for a lunch time cuppa tea ….just got back from a morning walk while the sun was shining ….

11c outdoors but the bit of sun made it feel a bit warmer ….

Not to bad for an oldie just over an hours walk 5.5 km ….now what’s that in miles …I’ll go check about 3 .5 miles

Can’t help you with authors as I’m not a book reader as such @StarSong

Darwin is known for being bombed by Japan during the war.

as well as Cyclones being …very tropical area ~ it’s close to the same Temps every day of the year ….it had a huge cyclone Christmas Eve 1974 ~ 50+ were killed most homes were destroyed ..it’s always being threatened by cyclones

If you have Netflix, watch "The Thursday Murder Club." Helen Mirren. Very funny.
Hello Ms. Granny? Did you ever get to start your job at the dollar store, or did you end up going with McDonald's? I remember a while ago you didn't want to go home smelling like a French fry. Well, I'll be damned my first job was at Taco Bell and smelled like a taco so bad I came home and just jumped in the shower to relieve myself. Funny and smelly days.

Just as a point of interest ..I can post photos of most of the places listed on that Aussie map … @StarSong
they are photos taken by me , with a tiny digital camera we bought to go travling in 2004 after we’d sold our home in Adelaide city ( suburbs )

These photos are about 20 years old :):)

First up ….Kings Canyon ( about in centre of map )…

Hubby and I hiked right to the top of this it’s 100 mtrs or 330 feet high ..it’s amazing it’s in a desert ….no water for 100s kms …yet it’s got ripples in the very top ~ and sea shells like it was covered with water once ….fascinating

Good morning.

Today, I seem to have hayfever, well I hope it's hayfever rather than a cold. I have been sneezing and my eyes feel sore.

I think there is going to be light rain and sunshine today. In a bit, we will be going out for a walk and popping to the shops. If the weather is nice tomorrow, the plan is to go out and enjoy the sun while we can. :)

Have a good day everyone ♥️

Feeling tired. We went out for our fajita special yesterday and I over ate. I tossed and turned all night.
I want to get in the yard today and weed.
I have areas that this time of year I hate to put my hand down into. Copper heads are out.
I tried using one of those grabbers to weed from a distance but not enough grab. I'm going to try the barbecue tongs! I think that might work. The weeds I'm talking about are not ugly until they get big and flower so that's all I need to be grabbing. We'll see.

Good Saturday morning. Sun's out but it's still cool.

I had to get up at the butt crack of dawn before DD drags me off to pick up a sofa that she bought online. It's brand new and never even been sat on...the seller bought it to "fill in a space" in his entryway. What? I guess people who can afford it do that, then decide they don't want it and all but give it away. It's a big brand name, and I'm guessing the original price was around $800-$1000. Go figure.

Anyway, she reserved a truck for 9am and wants to get it back by 11. Good thing the seller lives close by. I figured by 11am I wouldn't want to be messing around in the garden in the sun so got all the watering and weeding done early.

After we get home, I expect to sit around on my dead center for the rest of the day.
