How are you today?

@Kadee I think I won't grizzle today ;)

Got up at the buttcrack of dawn to make sausage, egg and cheese biscuits so that DSIL will have one (or two!) to take to work and one for whoever is working with him today. His center is hosting a tournament this weekend so he has to go in before the rooster 🐓crows.

Today is the day the temp starts going down in a big way. It rained last night and brought a cold wave with it. Frost tonight🥶.

Almost everything is cleaned up in the garden. DD still has things to do in hers so I guess I'll give her a hand. Beyond that, no plan.

Y'all have a great day of rest.

Wish I knew what all these TLAs (three letter acronyms) mean, such as DD, DSIL, and so on. They're not even three letter, are they? But I still don't quite understand what they mean. I suspect the DSIL is either the daughter or son in law, but can't be both of course. I also suspect the DD is the husband, but not entirely sure.

Regarding grizzle, I'm sure most Americans know what a grizzly bear is. It's the same root as grizzling. Anyone with a bad temper, or fed up and having a whinge or a moan, will understand what grizzling is, it's just the verb from the adjective 'grizzly'.

SIL could be son-in-law or sister-in-law. It gets really confusing if they have a unisex name like “Jesse.”

Then there‘s the “D.” I’ve ever only seen “DH” for “Dear Husband,” never just “H.” What if you’re mad at him? Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen “DW.”

If you write, “DD and SIL,” will it cause a fight in the family because you didn’t call the SIL “dear”?

Here's a frequently updated list of acronyms used on this forum.

Edited to add: @BJintheUK, I forgot to add the link! Sorry about that. 🤪

Having a great weekend. Our nearly 4 year old grandson was with us yesterday, then DD dropped off 13 year old GS and 10 year old GD and the kids all played together. So heartwarming and adorable watching the big kids stoop to his level of play, and to see his adoration of them shining in his eyes.

He went home early evening and the older kids spent the night. We watched K-Pop Demon Hunters with them last night and now understand what all the fuss is about among the younger set. Catchy music sung by talented singers and a group of empowered young women. I'll probably watch it again, next time with subtitles to discern all the dialog and lyrics.

DH & I have always tried to be informed of the music and trends that spoke to our kids, and now our grandkids.

Time to fire up the waffle irons! The kids may be a bit older, but they nevertheless requested Micky Mouse waffles!

In my opinion any time a person uses an acronym or abbreviation they should spell it out the first time.

My dear daughter(DD) called today and said son-in-law (SIL) is out of town for the week.

Isn't that easy?

Yay! We're done in the garden. Can you even imagine? Some of the plants are overwintering in the garage, the rest of them? Hope for the best.

I've put out the plankets (plant blankets) and anchored one side so all I have to do before dark is go out and pull the other side over the plants and anchor that side. The only ones that will be covered are the mums because...well...because they're still full of buds and blooms and I wanna keep them for as long as possible.

It's supposed to start warming up toward the end of the week.

I used my humidifier two nights ago for the first time since last winter and woke up hacking and choking, and then had flu-like symptoms all day yesterday including a mild fever. I asked ChatGPT what could have caused it and it told me there might be mold in the humidifier, or perhaps it was because I used tap water instead of distilled water. I used tap water last winter without any problems, so there must be mold in the unit. I did clean it and didn't see any mold, but there could be mold I guess in some of the inner workings of it.

This humidifier is one of the ultrasonic types. It's quiet, but if it makes me sick, that kind of defeats the purpose!

I think I'm going to replace it with a steam vaporizer.

It's a good day here, so far.

The cool weather feels nice, first dog walk is complete, exercises are finished and I've had breakfast. I'm feeling like sewing... something. Or maybe blasting music on my headphones and coloring.

Husband is working a mid-shift today so we may be able to catch a hockey game tonight if he's up for it. Yesterday, I watched a recent Sharks vs. Kraken game on replay. Yeesh, that was brutal.

Wishing everyone a good Sunday. 🍁

This morning the grocery store had numerous Boy Scoots selling dispensing poppies in support of Remembrance Day, Nov. 11th. Years ago they used to give an apple when you donated to the cause. I don’t know why they quit that tradition; maybe the cost of apples. It was nice to see such positive kids and leaders.

Well doing okay, however this left eye of mine is giving me
fitx....the drops that doc gave me don't seem to be working...
I'm wonder whether to see him again, or maybe try urgent
care tomorrow!? Very very irritating feeling for sure....oh well..
could be worse for sure......:confused::geek::poop:

Well, I didn't get to sleep seven hours like @hawkdon, but I did sleep for five uninterrupted hours. I'll call it a win.

It's not as cold as predicted but still cold. Right now it's 35 and not expected to get much warmer even with sunshine. We're expecting strong winds all day today and tomorrow.

I'm gonna think of things to do indoors today. Maybe do the brandied cranberries for Thanksgiving? They keep forfreaking ever. It means the oven will be on to keep it warmer in here, and it'll smell good besides.

Had a great weekend with kids and grands, and am looking forward to a happy week. I've defrosted 4 lbs of butter so I'm set to start making Christmas cookie dough to stash in the freezer. I'm also noodling out a schedule for our annual pizza/cookie parties.

The holidays have begun for me. Yay!!!

How am I today? I'm solidly in my happy place, thanks for asking!

The day goes well. Husband is off, which is nice, and I'm having fun in my new puzzle book. I really want to sew something (I know I keep mentioning that), but haven't figured out what, yet.

We had fun watching our hockey team on replay last night. They lost, but they fought so hard that we couldn't be upset about the loss. They did all they could. They just got beat. 🏒

I've done the first dog walk, some journaling, exercises, stretches, breakfast... I'm at one of the lull parts of the day where I can do whatever... Spose I could hex someone; I've got time. (Kidding. I almost never do that.) ;)

Wishing everyone here a nice Monday.

It was wonderful weather for walking today. Sunshine, no wind, still lots of golden leaves in some trees. All this makes me feel good.
Happy for you and wish I could say the same. Yeesh, it was colder on the afternoon walk than the morning, today. 🥶

And my coat is ridiculous.

I need a new coat, like my old one, which was a men's coat that fell to mid-calf, with sleeves that dropped well over my hands, a giant hood that surrounded but did not cover my face. I miss that coat.

LOL - I was just having this discussion with husband. He's looking.

Doing great except for my feet, which have been hurting since Saturday night. Why are they hurting? Well, I put vanity over common sense and wore a "pretty" pair of high heels (which I haven't done in years) to this big black-tie affair I attended Saturday night. I went out and bought THREE pairs of fawncy shoes (luckily, I can take two of them back) to wear with my kick-ass dress I found for $12.95 at the thrift store.

I was in agony with the ones I chose to wear. I just CAN'T wear high heels. I know it, but I did it anyway. At one point at the end of the evening, I had taken them off and was carrying them. Walking around barefoot is agony for me, too, but it was preferable to the shoes.

I saw lots of older ladies there wearing nice flats with their formal gowns. Why I didn't just get some glittery black flats, I don't know. I can only blame it on temporary insanity. It won't happen again, I assure you.

As my dad used to say, my dogs are barking.... I hope they shut up by tomorrow. I'm tired of limping.
