How are you today?

I'm so happy for you, @IrishEyes, and still can't get over Dodge's nonsense with this. Yet another reason for people to hang onto their existing vehicles.

Today the fam comes over to hang with my sister who's visiting from Toronto. Casual afternoon and easy dinner. Will see if DS, DDIL and the littles want to come again tomorrow. DS can watch the Super Bowl — or at least watch it better than he did last year, which was to watch some of it on his phone because his TV was commandeered by his (then) 3 year old.

I can set up the kids with youtube or DVD videos on a laptop if they want to watch something, but more likely my sister and I will play trains, cars, magnet tiles, or something similar with them while the game is on.

getting by. i spoke to the boss yesterday about needing surgery for my finger and she decides to inform me that if i run out of pd time off they can replace me. then she tells me her arthritis hurts all the time but she chooses to ignore it like i'm supposed to follow suit with a trigger finger. uh...trigger finger is a little different than arthur. *smh*

so if i wait til i get at least 8 wks built up it will be october before i can get anything done. hopefully my finger won't get wrecked in the meantime. if i get sick between now and then i'm screwed.

It rained again! I was so tempted to stay home but, I kept to the plan and visited a friend. We had a really nice day despite the miserable weather. On the way home, I bought some salmon for tomorrow's dinner.

It's a bit chilly this evening and the chef is making hot chocolate drinks and, as I am in charge of finding something to watch on Netflix tonight, I had better wish you all a lovely Saturday evening and log off. :)

Okay. Meh. I think I'm coming down with what poor husband has had for the last week. :/ If I do fall completely though, I'ma just embrace the suck and get into bed with lozenges, sugar free popsicles saltines and tea. Watch a bunch of movies.

Husband asked if I wanted anything from Walmart as he was putting an order in and I asked for shower steamers. I had to explain them and I'm not actually sure they're coming, but I thought some eucalyptus shower steam would be nice.

Boyfriend's Lupercalia package arrived safely, much to my relief. His card for me arrived here a couple days ago and the present is coming today. I've promised not to open either until Lupercalia, which is totally hard because I picked out that present and really want to open it!

I need to get my Valentines in the mail and make a Lupercalia card for husband over the next few days. Oh, and make some cookies! I bought heart-shaped cutters this year for Lupercalia cookies! Oh man, I'm really hoping I don't get too sick. I wanna make cookies.

Hope you are all having a nice Saturday afternoon. If you're in the cold weather; stay inside if you can! It's freezing out there. 🥶 ❤️

I don't give rat's rear who wins the super bowl.

What I did today was nothing except feed Maggiecat and play solitaire on my laptop.

Yanno what? I'm sick and tired of being a grown up. I'm old. How soon do I get to be in my second childhood?
Now! The time is now! That's what retirement should be - we get to be teenagers again albeit maybe not so cute!

Mostly, our lives are no longer dictated by work, alarm clocks, responsibilities and expectations. We can sleep late every day, we can eat junk if we want, we can stay up all night watching Netflix or whatever and, if we make a mistake we can put it down to our age. These days, I avoid being a grown-up as much as possible :)

Haha. Sleep late? I still get up at "the butt crack of dawn" everyday. However, it is by choice. 🌄

Well. Payback is hell. After crowing about sleeping all night Friday night, I was awake for hours and hours last night. Sleep a couple of hours, get up to pee, sleep another hour or so, get up to pee, ad infinitum. Ugh. That's what I get for being smug. I'll probably be meaner than a snake today.

It's cold and sunny right now, only 32, but supposed to warm up this afternoon. It might be warm enough tomorrow to actually sit outside on the teeny, tiny patio and hatch a plot about how the garden is going to look this summer.

We're going to have hot ham and cheese sliders and cole slaw today instead of a regular Sunday dinner so that DSIL can kick back and nosh and not have to come to the table and interrupt his super bowl game. Hot fudge pudding cake for dessert.

"The butt crack of dawn" 🤭 I must remember that one!

Up until this winter, I always had my alarm clock set and got up at the same time but, this winter - one cold morning - I reached out, switched the alarm off and now I awake when I awake - annoyingly it's usually the same time as when the alarm used to go on.

As soon as these grey mornings are done and dusted, I will be setting that alarm again so I don't miss those lovely Spring mornings. 😊

Since last week I have been confined on my back in bed. I am attached by wires which are attached to machines called vacuums as that’s what they are. Sucking infections out from me and into plastic jars.

I can’t turn in either direction more than a couple of inches. Can lower infected left leg toward floor a bit for pain control.

Have no idea how long I will be like this or what comes next. The original plan was more vascular bypass’s on both legs.

I am diapered for the past week. When they pull me up to eat I wear a bib.

They have started me on Physical Therapy. It’s amazing how little I am able to do; how weak I am apart from being confined.

They give me my own copy of the NYTIMES which is greatly appreciated. There is a TV of course. Have my phone. Near a window facing east and get the morning sun.

Have you guys and that is a great comfort. Am bored but who wants to take pleasure in this?

So. That’s what I do all day.

Saving Grace. Son lives two blocks away. See him DIL and grandson often.

I wouldn't even know the Superbowl was happening if it didn't affect husband's work. He works in a co-op so increased traffic on holidays.

Our hockey team lost again in the game we watched last night and that they actually played on the 6th. Our poor team is perilously close to being out of the playoffs. Though I will watch them up until the playoffs, I already know who I'll be following through the playoffs. I love my team, but ultimately it is hockey I am a fan of.

Well, it got me, the virus, and I'm in bed with lozenges and saltines. 🤒 I'm finishing my morning coffee, but there is tea waiting (Constant Comment) and sf popsicles in the freeze. And husband did get the shower steamers, which is nice. :)

Husband is going to work today as he's feeling better, though I wish he wouldn't (work, I mean), but will then be off for three days.

I'm watching a football match with boyfriend and then I'm going to finish the 1957 movie, Witness for the Prosecution, which I started last night.

@Georgiagranny, fudge pudding cake sounds wonderful!

@Trish, I enjoy Spring mornings as well. :)

Hope everyone has a good day. :)

@Pepper, it's so good to hear from you and get this update! It sounds like they are taking care of you which is a relief! You seem in better spirits this time and I'm so glad, girl. You're being very tough and resilient here as it sounds like a difficult situation.

You are so right that you have peeps here! We'll chat with you and keep you company when you're feeling up to it. :🤗❤️

It feels better though when you just wake up on your own than some darn object telling you to :ROFLMAO:

I am so glad for you that you can come on here too. Knowing you have people thinking about you and entertaining you
in ways none of us realize as we post. Hugs to you and Thanks to Matrix for this fabulous site for all of us.

@Pepper So glad to hear from you. I've been worried. I'm still worried, but it helps to hear from you directly🤗

So I've never been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, but I will admit to having a case of Oh-look-shiny. I was going to get ahead of today's meal prep this morning instead of doing it all later this afternoon.

Start out by getting dressed. Right? Get clothes from closet, reach into underwear drawer and notice that there are way too many socks in there. Take out all socks and lay them on top of dresser. Go to kitchen to get a plastic sack to corral socks while sorting.

Got plastic sack and decided to go ahead and clean litter box.

Wash hands. Forget what was next.

Then got ingredients for dessert out of the cupboard. Why stop there? Mixed up dry ingredients.

While in kitchen, remembered that I was going to look up price of 20" stove/oven...just to know what to expect if it dies. Back to laptop to check price. Got another plastic sack to take to sitting room for sorting socks.

While on laptop, notice that there's an email. Check email. Nothing important. Delete email.

Already on laptop so why not check FB? Fell down the FB rabbit hole.

Plastic sack and socks on sofa.

Now. What was I going to do?

ETA: LOL! See my tag line about a job well thought over being half done? Looks like there are lots of jobs around The Hovel that are half done:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

That was courtesy of @Georgiagranny 😊

Have apps like Disney/Hulu/CBS.com/YouTube/Sirius ETC. on my phone.
Have been watching old soaps on YouTube like All My Children from 70s & 80s

Thank goodness for such things. Son will be here soon for visit.

Wish I could leave bed and go for wheelchair ride.
You sound a bit better Pepper. Haven't read your last post though. Reading now.
