How are you today?

Good morning! Where the heck is everybody? It's almost 8am, and the day is half over...

It's sunny, no wind so far. Not going to be as warm as yesterday, but maybe 60F. That's warm enough for me to get out to the garden and get busy. Most of what I need to do is on my knees, so up close and personal to the dirt, and I won't get as tired as when raking.

It's also laundry day.

Gotta get my gluteus maximus in gear. BBL

Good morning.. from a different time-zone!
😁

How is it that the weeds grow so well in winter? I dug up weeds. Lots of weeds. Raked more leaves. Lots of leaves. I'm tired. Lots of tired.

There are daffodils all over the garden. Last fall I moved a bunch of daffodils to random spots just to have some color in a couple of weeks. Random spots...

Decided to take a break because...forgot that there was laundry waiting to be dried and another load waiting to be washed. Forgot that the kitty litter needed to be vacuumed up. Oops.

Have a hankering for a bologna sandwich. Gonna make and eat one and *maybe* attack more weeds. Or take a nap.

@Ruthanne I hope you're better enough soon to go fill out that application. Here's a hug for you 🤗

Yanno what really sucks about getting old? I just don't have the stamina anymore to get everything done that I wanna get done. Referring to my garden, of course. There's so much to do to get it ready for planting, and I can only work for maybe 15 minutes at a time. Dammit:mad: What happened to the me who could go outside at daylight and work until sunset?
Thanks for your message and support. I want to fill that application out for sure. I need more time to put more ice and heat on my lower back. It flares up after I do anything. I don't have the energy anymore either. I wish there was an energy potion but I haven't found one. If I can ever get enough sleep I will feel a little better. I hope you have good things happen for you ❣️

It's 11 am and I am tempted to write today off, actually, all this week has been a bit of a write off!

I stayed up far too late last night, chatting with an old school friend who reminded me of so many things I had forgotten. She moved away some years ago and only recently got in touch via another school friend. It was lovely to speak to her again but sad to hear that so many school friends are no longer around. It wasn't all sadness though, we had some great times and so many friends. Happy days ❤️ :)

I hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend.

I feel your pain. Weeds. Not even the good kind. 🙂
I moved some daffodils last year but not expecting them to bloom. They usually don't the first year after moving.
I got the small cordless weed eater working and ordered more spools. I'm sure DH refilled them with better line, and I will do that, but for now I need easy.
I love this cordless eater. Light and no cord!

It's gonna be another lovely sunny day and even warm-ish.

You've heard of a pain in the neck, of course. I have a literal pain in the neck and want it to just go away. It was bad when I was sick in January, and when I went to urgent care on New Year's Eve, I mentioned it to the doc.

It's a leftover from a fractured vertebra from a car accident 50 years ago. While I was there, they did an xray to see if there was something else wrong. Nope, *just* the sort of misalignment they expected and was reassured that there was nothing else wrong.

Well, yanno what? That doesn't make it hurt any less when it decides to act up . Reckon it has anything to do with the weather? We're expecting a heckuva wall of rain starting tomorrow night and lasting through Sunday night.

Enough of my whining. I'm gonna play in the dirt in spite of it. So there.

We had a big surprise yesterday afternoon. DH's DD called to tell us that her son, my grandson, DD's nephew (never mind that step- stuff, it's too complicated to bother with), called her to tell her that he just got off a plane in Atlanta with his GF and her parents and remembered that we live here. Duh! It was funny because she had no idea he was going to be here. Grown kids have their own lives, right?

She gave him our phone #, and when he called, we made arrangements to meet at a restaurant close to their hotel (30 miles away from us...it's a big city!). Her parents already had plans to do something so we only met with DGS and the GF, but had lots of laughs and a good time. Combined with good food, it was a fun evening.

Check this: They live in the Boston area. Every two years, DH and I would go out there to visit, but for some reason after 2002 we didn't go. DGS was born in 2002, meaning that I hadn't seen him since he was a baby! I got to say what old relatives always say, "My, how you've grown!" LOL

So. That was my day. Playing in the dirt today probably won't be quite as entertaining.

Son's GF called yesterday telling me about a Black Bear Information Seminar today with our local
Conservation Agency and asked if I wanted to go with her. There has been sightings of Black Bear in
surrounding areas these past 2 years. She said after the presentation they will be teaching a lesson on
Needle Felting a Black Bear, supplies included. How can I pass that up?

She told me to bring my felting tools along if I wished. I had to laugh and say Ummm, no, If I do
that they will think I am a professional Felter and pay closer attention to my efforts :ROFLMAO: I'll just go
and have fun with it.
So looking forward to the afternoon out with Stacy.

Florida, they spray a water mist on the fruit trees during freezes which protects the fruit not allowing it to freeze. A weed could certainly survive if they were under snow or ice.

In Colorado the wild buffalo herds root around in the snow with their noses finding edible food that survived.

I don't like anything below 50 degrees ..

If I saw any Bear Doodie near my home I would be leaving. No way I'm going out and looking for any.

They are not normally in this area but the way it goes, they are being pushed to home further and further away from
their natural areas. We have even seen hundreds of Armadillos dead along the highways here, Never saw them back
20 years ago. Conservation is trying hard to teach the area about these new critters and how to react to them.
I know my DH hearing the bears have been seen won't go outside without a bright light!

Feeling weary today. Yesterday my carbon monoxide detector kept going off and really rattled my nerves. Maintenance is supposed to bring a new one today. I hope it's a user friendly one.

Same shenanigans here as usual. Trying not to let it get to me. In a few weeks hopefully I'll be able to walk normally again. Then this helpful lady is taking me to fill out an application. It's so depressing living here .

I better get my mind off it by watching some Netflix.

That would scare me, if the detector isn’t old. There was a case where a child in a different apartment died because their detector wasn’t working. The gas was travelling down the hall and setting off the other person’s monitor.

It scared me for sure. It's an old detector. Once he puts the new one in I think it'll be better. It was beeping intermittently which means something is wrong with it or needs a new battery. He tried putting a brand new battery in it and it just kept beeping. A new one is going to be here soon.

Asphalt or cement are great heat conductors and even if the night temps seem reasonable some animals are attracted to the heat. Being nocturnal an Armadillo can't see his front foot if it was in front of his face, headlights would totally blind them. Same with Moles and Ground Squirrels which burrow.

There is also a certain breed of owls that use pre-existing dugouts found around utility underground enclosures. The owls do not dig their homes but they do house keeping and clean a hole out. It was nice living in Nv and setting outside at dusk to watch the little owls come out and grab a bite of flying insects. They would fly to the fence post and just sit there , not big owls but little young ones that just learned to fly.

Nevada state bird is the Raven. Where I lived was only 24 miles to Shoshone Ca and all the Ravens would fly that 24 miles early at sunup and stay all day in the little town I lived, At Dusk they all regrouped and flew home another 24 miles. They mate for life and all can live to be 30 years old or older depending on their health.

My Brother was outside sitting in under the shade tree and he told me two Ravens landed on the power line in front of the place and one was electrocuted, it fell dead to the ground and the mate flew down next to it and sat there all day waiting for it to get up. That's pretty solid affection for a so called animal. Ravens love living around humans because we drop so much trash and food all around. They can totally empty a dumpster if not covered with lid down. :)
