How can people get in debt?

i remember years back when he was on tv as well as many others but telling people the truth that you need to do this or that/ cut out frivolous spending / budget etc .... was not a big ratings thing.... lol
i mean at first as onlookers gasp at the stupidity of some fine .... but when was same story over and over and no one seemed to be taught a lesson by even watching a previous episode .... it became redundant. That and he keep pushing his products on people as well.

i do enjoy listening every so often shaking me head.
Exactly!!

Some supermarkets in Australia have introduced afterpay Supermarket chain's Afterpay deal triggers 'debt trap' concern from welfare group

I only became aware of this due to doing allot of our food shopping in Drakes which are part of a chain, however I believe all stores are independently owned unlike large corporate stores

I’ve never asked if the after pay can be used to “pay” for everything in store, Drakes are food stores who like all supermarkets stock sundry items like towels / and minor hardware items / gardening items./ plants

I learned at a young age if you want something you save until you have the money to pay for it .

The only money I’ve ( We’ve ) ever owed was a home loan after hubs and I got married and that was paid off swiftly due to interest rates being just short of 18% at the time in 1987

:) Hello Rich,
1) Of course you are 'owed' medical care. You paid for it, hence it is owed to you. However, the person who ordered your payments can also un-order them. I'm just sayin'. Nothing in this world is guaranteed, or known for certain.
2) I paid SS and Medicare for a different reason. I paid because my income was taken from me by force.
3) Entitlements are not free. They are bought by government, but dearly paid for by the taxpayers.
4) Your 'Everybody pays, everybody benefits' equals communism.
5) I can't even leave without government permission ie a passport.
6) Our profit-based system worked beautifully in the past. Until government knew 'better'.
Just another opinion, everybody's got one
1) Perhaps a bit of this is semantics. I feel like I already own it; delivery is what I'm owed.
2) agreed. However, had the government invested that money instead of spending it, things might be a bit different.
3) Agreed, the only thing that's free in this life is nothing.
4) Everybody pays for and benefits from police protection, fire protection, and the public education system; are these things also communist?
5) I don't entirely agree; leaving is easy. Getting back in might be a problem without the proper credentials.
6) Our profit-based system worked well until greed took over. They don't know "better," they only know how to get more for themselves. It's often described as late-stage capitalism. Our current deficit/borrow system is unsustainable, yet our politicians continue to add to the $32 trillion in debt as if they can't do math. They can; it's just that they are profiting from the system and have no interest in changing it.

Re #4: Of course they are not. The things you list are essential in a civilized society, first of which is a strong military. Entitlements are what churches and charities are for.
Re #5: I won't be leaving here without credentials either. Please do tell me how to leave without a passport/credentials except illegally. Entry into Canada or Mexico is by permission of the US and those countries, and will be noticed if I don't leave. Anyway, it doesn't matter, I was trying to illustrate how completely enslaved we are. IRS is another example.
Re #6: :) I could not have said it better.
