How close are you to grocery stores?

I am a block away from a birite and several from a discount Aldi grocery. There is also a Save a-lot about a mile down the street and a Giant Eagle about 1/2 a mile away.

Less than 5 miles or around that, short drive to all the major supermarkets, drug stores, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. I could walk to a couple of places, but it would be a long walk along a high traffic street.

We lived in a retirement community in Arizona that had 3 super markets, 2 gas stations, 2 hardware stores, a car wash, a hospital, and a funeral parlor. There were 29,000 residents in mostly private homes.
Lived implies you moved from the retirement community. I mentioned 4 grocery stores since the thread is about grocery stores. Other services like post office, dental, the cemetery where I will ride to is within walking distance. 4 large malls I would have to drive about 10 to 15 minutes to get to.
We chose not to live in a retirement community simply because we thought getting to know old people with one foot in the grave would be depressing.

The store I shop at most often is about a mile from my house. The only loyalty cards I carry are for the two grocery stores in my area. Do not shop enough at other stores to make it worth it. Plus, you are right, too many cards can sure clutter things up.

Now I can go to many major grocery stores within minutes although both of our physical problems we order online for delivery. When we had our cabin up in the Idaho mountains once down to the highway it was 28 miles to the only grocer within 80 miles. If they didn't have it, you did without. If it snowed heavy we had to wait till the county plowed or road.

I'm twenty miles from Walmart, about twenty-two from Albertson's and the cheese & goody store. Walmart is just a hair over twenty minutes, but there's slower traffic for the next two miles.

There's no noise except for coyotes where I live. My nearest neighbor is over ¼ mile away. It's as good as it gets here.

I’m lucky to have not only local stores but my Doctor, Optician and Dentist are also all within a five minute walk

I'm very close to shopping. My closest plaza that has Walgreens and fast food and a supermarket among other things is only about 3 blocks.

Safeway is about 1.5 miles and my favorite store, Trader Joe's is also 1.5 miles but in the opposite direction.

I always walk to the lower price grocery store which is 6 blocks from my apt building. If my bag is not too heavy,I'll walk home, which I did today. The other grocery store I go to twice/month is too far for me to walk,15 blocks so I take the bus. Sue

Same here, Big Horn. Our nearest neighbors are several miles from our ranch and our nearest grocery is a 25 mile drive. If we see more than three vehicles on our county road, we consider that a "real heavy" traffic day!

There's a local store in easy walking distance, but choices are limited and, while they have some good sales, prices are high. "Real" shopping is in the next tow over--about 30 minutes away.

There's a neighborhood Walmart (that used to be a great little Wild Oats store) that's a 5 minute walk and an Albertson's a little further up the street, maybe 10 minutes. My PCP's office is even nearer and so is a post office and several restaurants, including Starbuck's where my major food addiction Lemon Loaf is waiting patiently for me. I have cataracts and while I wait for surgery, I bought a backpack kind of thing called a bodega bag to carry all of my groceries. I buy most heavy things online.

I'm on a major bus route and a $12 monthly pass easily takes me to other shopping, like Trader Joe's and Smith's (our Kroger's). Our city also has a special bus service for seniors to take us to doctor's appointments, stores and senior centers, all the necessities. It means calling ahead and making arrangements, but it's easy enough to do. I deliberately chose this area for its convenience and I haven't regretted it. The other good thing I did when I got ready to retire was to buy a huge upright freezer that I always keep filled with food and baked goods.
