How Concerned Are You About Your Own Privacy

I guess I am a bit different than many I know when it comes to Privacy. I put a lot out on the net about my self, my finances (not in detail), my health etc. I regularly use both my debit and credit card on line. I do all my banking on line as well as investing.. If a clever hacker can sift there way through my encrypted postings, have at it. They ain't gonna get much and if they do, how can it be used against me? Hey, you wanna know something about me, just ask. I may or may not answer.
 

I hold back identifying information because if I should happen to pick up some crazy on my tail I don't want him/her to be able to track me back to my family. I never name my husband or any of my grand children here or anywhere else, especially on Facebook etc. If I post a photo I don't leave it up indefinitely and I never post my date of birth.
 
As I wrote elsewhere, some guy in Oklahoma, a state I have never resided in, filed a tax return last year IN MY NAME using MY S/S NUMBER for tax year 2013, seeking over $7000 tax refund. I would never have known about this, since being indigent, I have not filed a tax return since 2003. However, my wife's mandatory inclusion in Obamacare last year required filing a 1040. Interview with an IRS Agent revealed the identity theft.


So far, there have been no repercussions, that I am aware of. My Credit Rating remains well over 800. Discover Card sees to it that they post it for me with each statement! Only other incident happened perhaps 5 years ago, when Bank of America called, asking me if I had attempted to buy a motorized wheelchair for over $4000 using my card. Told them absolutely not. They had caught a fraudulent attempt at use of my card, and immediately issued a new one, new number, free. I was impressed by that, but not the ID theft! imp
 
We do our banking online, order online etc and we use precautions in regard to money. I share info online. People have said I shouldn't post when we are going to be away for long holidays which tells them our house is empty. Well, who knows where exactly we live, and if they did are they going to travel the long journey to my house? No one can remember the last time there was a crime in my neighbourhood. Of my FB friends that know where our house is, I trust them.

I don't put my real name on my blogs or my Flicker photo albums.
 
Ive wrote many poems,
One or two have been published (after asking if i agreed) Ive had two offers of publishing and continuing to write for these companies, and ive said no each time,
I never used my own name but one i invented and only myself and my wife know how this pretend name came about,

But ive seen my poems on at least three forums and each time the writer has said via comments from reads ref how they liked the poem "that he or she had wrote the poem, the poems im talking about are word perfect, even in one case a spelling mistake,
So people do hack you and im sure www saftey is one to keep in mind.

I also take normal precautions and try not to overthink it. I never post my real name or address in forums, or my birth date, and I am VERY careful about giving out my SSAN. I also shred mail that has any personal information on it.
 
I do not share any pictures of me or my family at our present stage in life. As children, sometimes. I have no fear of credit card theft. I have extra protection through my home owner's insurance. Much cheaper than LifeLock. I pay $6.00 for one million dollars of protection. Now, since being retired, I can no longer be found through any of the FAA documents. I still have my ATP license and certificate, but I only fly private and not commercial.
