How did you find out about SF/how long have you been a member?

I followed Furry here a number of years ago when several much smaller seniors sites that we frequented folded due to abandonment and non-payment of hosting fees by founders of those sites. I’ve tried a number of other senior’s sites of size, but don’t care to hear about stamp collecting or posting about what’s in my refrigerator. Sites catering to a broader age population tend to be politically or sexually obsessed and quite nasty at times, leaving me wanting to take a bath afterwards. The people here tend to be intelligent, diverse, tolerant, and at times whimsical, all good things in my book…📖
 
I'm a fledgling duck who flew over here from the UK about a month ago. :giggle:

I came across SF about 4/5yrs ago and bookmarked it. I was housebound after an op for a while and found this and another forum but didn't feel I wanted to join in then - just because I didn't feel I had anything to contribute. Bit of a 'been there, done that' type of feeling.
(At one point one forum I became so addictive to, I swore I wouldn't be like that again - dashing home from work and turning on the computer. Vegitating on my bum for hours. I swear that's how I picked up piles :oops:)

I really enjoy reading what others' lives are about, especially this one with folk from all over the globe, where you all live (and where I wish I lived too), the differences in lots of things and how things differ from the UK. Some great characters I've spotted too, even tho' I'm not on here very often.

I'm really rather flabbergasted at the mo. (That's the polite way of saying WTF)
This thread made me think back to when I first started on forums. The year was 2000 - that's 23yrs ago and 7 forums later.
(It's nudged so many lovely memories too of the members I knew/still know, the meet ups, a couple of relationships, shared interests .... all of that. Fun times.:giggle:)
 
I am one of the oldest members, almost 10 years ago , but no one knows or cares, nor does it matter.
Living Alone and Family, Social Relations forums were my ideas. I left for over 8 months and no one noticed, I'm sure.

I left for a while. I didn't expect that anyone would notice and was glad when I was welcomed back. I feel like everything is not about me. I see you and care Victor. Now, write a nice thread.

it's not that no-one notices but admin has frowned upon any threads asking the whereabouts of members when they disappear without explanation
