How do I know if I am making a mistake?

Stay where you are until you are more sure and have a plan. What do your other 5 children think?
 

I feel pain here and lonliness and maybe family fractures and maybe personality clashes - all these are harder to fix than accomodation needs??
 

Well frankly, I suspect since you were asking here, that you don't want any change. You are happy with your life as it is. You know the answer to your question.
 
My sister 86yrs old lives on her own, where she lives is about 50k from us, our arrangement is she phones us each morning at about 10 am lets the phone ring three times, and hangs up, that way we know she is ok if the phone does not ring as arranged, we phone her and check, if there was to be no answer we would drive up to her house, and enter, we know where the front door key is hidden in the garden.
