How do you cope with urge to urinate?

Here in PA, we will allow men to pull over onto the berm of the highway and use one of the plastic portable urinals. If a man relieves himself in the bushes and a PSP catches him, he’s likely to receive a warning, or if the man is disrespectful or fails to comply with the Trooper, he will probably be fined.

You can call yourself lucky. I even know of some young men who took only 1 mg Finasteride daily to combat hair loss. But after several years the side effects got so severe that at least one of these men asked for medical assisted dying and got it!

Wow, that's very serious. From the time I've started taking it until now, I've never noticed anything negative. If I didn't take it, I don't know if I'd still be here since my BPH had dramatically worsened. I did notice a change when taking Doxazosin, but that was postive because I no longer had a sensation of extreme urgency.
 
This thread reminds me of a senior bicycle group I started riding with when I first retired. I swear those guys planned rides based on where bathrooms were available, they would make jokes about knowing where every bathroom was in a hundred mile radius!

I was younger than most of them so couldn't relate to that kind of planning, but now eight years later I'm starting to understand. I've had a few panic moments myself where I've wondered if I was going to wet myself. Now when I leave the house I go to the bathroom even if I don't feel the urge, it's called the PPP program, planned preemptive peeing!

I thought 'gentlemen' is more easier than women's, ... just a bit standing to use urinary.
If there are frequency needing to use bathroom, there may have rx med. to control it, but outside US, I have no idea Doctor taking seriously this issue.

I used to have UTI in my mid 20' and early 30's until Surgery to widen my uretha/tube. I still have 'urge,' but can wait until 'really bad' to go bathroom, even 2 hours' stretch no need to go bathroom. I credit it to surgery.

I agree 'Depend,' but I never got one.
Now, as being 'elderly person,' I may purchase and carry 'Depend.'

It's interesting. For many men it seems to be safe, but there are others who develop devastating side effects.
