How do you feel about January?

This doesn't really apply to those in the Southern Hemisphere; but I hate January with a passion.
It is cold, dark, miserable, there appears to be no end to it, and I have other personal reasons for hating it to.
so can I say thankyou to all of you on this forum for enabling me to get through last week at least, and making me laugh; not an easy task this month I can assure you.

Good question! I usually like January because it's when I can wear sweaters and cute boots? Fresno is very hot in the summer, actually most of the year and I look forward to the cooler temps...in the 50's usually in the winter but this year so far has been too warm and no rain....we are in the 70's for the next 10 days with no rain in sight...I get tired of the sun day after day after day.

I like January better than December with all the holiday craziness going on. It's the beginning of a new year, and it is winter by me, still snow on the ground and more to come...but I love the four seasons, even cold winters and hot summers.

The last time I wore cute boots I went into a gay bar and.....well.........the rest is history.

I am really happy you joined this forum, you are really a lovely person and loads of fun!

And now you have made me cry.....time for a drink I feel.....

Maybe it's SAD, vivjen?? The late Fall is worse for me; not enough sun, and short days. I try to get out as much as I can. January isn't pleasant, but the holidays are behind us and I know Spring is on the way.

It is partly, Anne, and I do try and get out, but it hasn't stopped raining here for weeks it feels!
I can't believe you look like a plaid Michelin man, TWHRider, and I bet the horses don't think so either!

I hate January because all the tourists are here with their kids, bring on Feb when they are back at school and there will be peace at last.
Sorry that January is a sad time for you Vivjen, mine is August i have lost quite a few precious people in August.

We have 300 days of sunshine here which is too much.

Do you take vitamin D?

Lots of people here even get a blood test for it and many are lacking, I wasn't but if you have all those dreary days you may not be getting your dose.

First of all; thanks all. You really are helping me get through this.....
that Vitamin D idea is not stupid.....pharmacist heal thyself!
i have a blood test coming up....watch this space..

Januaries are usually okay down here. Hot as hell or storming something fierce but I quite like January. It's usually gotten around to being proper summer by then and it's kind of holiday weather mostly. February is Hell month, that's the one that brings the hot Westerly winds in from the desert and there's usually a more spectacular bush fire or flood, or cyclone natural disaster for the media to rabbit about.
But the seasons slip and change their timing in cycles so nothing is reliable when it comes to weather.

August is my dread month. Cold, windy and misery guts depressing. Most of my family seem to have died in August for some reason so guess they didn't like it much either.

Sounds really like we are going to have quite a miserable year, one way and another..never mind, ever onward and upward.

Actually, I should like January more than usual, since it is named after Janus, the double-face Roman god of beginnings and endings.

Sort of like the Taoist Yin/Yang ...
