How do you read a book, on a tablet or the old fashioned way?

The old fashioned way. I don't read often, though, only 3 or 4 books a year. And for the approximately 2 1/2 years that my foster son was here (infancy to toddlerhood), I didn't read at all. I got two books for Christmas in 2019 that I really want to dive into. One is from my 10yr old granddaughter; Finding Dorothy (re:The Wizard of Oz). I wanna read that one first.

Tablet. Just like our new member, Mozzie, I only have vision in one eye. It’s so great being able to change the font & brightness. When I see a word I don’t know, I just look it up. Books are free from the library. So easy to take many books when travelling.

Really, in the evening I should switch to paper.

I am addicted to hard back books, always have been...love the feel of a paper book, and the smell of a new book, but there's nothing beats the smell of an old second-hand book store...

I read 95% of the time using HB books... the rest of the time is divided between my Kindle & Ipad...

In the London Library they have similar book benches to those in the OP... they're made from Brass...

Can no longer read so use audiobooks.

One advantage is that old favourites (Tom Clancy) take on a whole new lease of life.

Disadvantage is that many US editions are not licensed for the UK, and you have a huge stock which I can't access.

Another disadvantage is that in the UK audiobooks (and e-books) carry a tax, which hardcopy doesn't.

I seem to be in the minority. I moved a few years ago and got rid of tons of books. Now I just read ebooks. I didn't think I would ever prefer them but I do now.

I will read a book on kindle, on my iPad, on my iphone, prefer paperback books, will buy a hard back book if I really really can’t wait 😂. I love reading but I don’t read nearly as much as I used to. I used to read a book once a day, then once every two weeks, then once a month, now once every three months.

The eyes, the headaches, the concentration, and inability to multi task at my age, has decreased 😢 my book reading.

I used to say I liked the real books. Then @Kayelle was given a Nook as a gift. I then realized that I could also access the internet from the reader. I used to buy hardcover books, then donate them to my library
I bought a Kindle, and never looked back. My wife also bought a Kindle after her Nook died. I found a number of sites where eBooks were free or inexpensive, I also have a few favorite authors, and their eBooks are quite a bit less than their hardbound books.
Some years ago we went on a 32 day cruise, and had our books loaded on our Kindles. We also loaded a bunch of music on the Kindle and could play it through our minispeakers, sitting out on our balcony

Another reason I now prefer ebooks is so I can take them easily on vacation (when we were traveling before Covid) since they do not take up space.

I would prefer real books, but my eyesight is getting bad. .. I use my Kindle now since I can adjust the print, and getting books with my Prime account makes it so easy.
that's the excellent part about a kindle, and very practicle use for it... however, in those circumstances I would prefer to use my Ipad because enlarging the print on a kindle, means you'll be reading a dozen words before having to refresh the page every few seconds...
