How do you spend your Sundays?

Sunday is catch-up day, and getting-ready-for-work day, for both Ron and me. I guess if you're retired, Sunday isn't a particularly different day, but we're not, so it's essentially "launch" day for the week.

Ron has material he needs to either purchase, or load into the work van, tools to prep and load, depending on what the work week looks like. He'll also make phone calls relating to work, and do the billing, invoicing and paperwork from the week prior

I shop for the week (we both take food to work daily, so the fridge needs to be stocked and ready.) If I have computer work I'm doing for a client, I make sure it's done, or at least more progress made, I text or talk with clients as necessary to finalize my schedule, see what I might need to purchase for the work, make sure I have their credit card info or the actual card.

Both of us wrap up any household tasks I've listed to accomplish over the weekend...and that could be anything from washing the car to ordering more supplements to trimming the dogs' nails. And also things like changing the bed and washing the towels and other linens.

What's your Sunday routine?
 

When I'm not working I'm usually resting and I'm online and playing video games. I also like to find an online church service to watch. Usually doing some wash and getting ready for my next work week.
 
Well that was pretty much our routine, Ronni, before I took early retirement 3 years ago...

Hubs however at 60 is still working anything up to 80 hours a week... Sundays are different for us depending on what time of the year it is, and whether hubs is exhausted from work...and we can't go out.

Currently we can't go to the pub because of lockdown but that's where we would generally go for lunch with friends or just us.. and then later in the day hubs would prepare his stuff for work.. he rarely takes work calls on a Sunday but often he'll have 'text' to read up on Sunday evenings.. for work..

If we don't go out, we stay home catch up with stuff that couldn't be done in the week, do some gardening if the weather allows, hubs will be in the barn sometimes working on something, or his watchmaking hobby... and if it's sunny day we'll go out walking in the woods or by the lake...
 
I like to treat Sunday's as a traditional day, where I prepare a special meal, usually something in the way of a roast (beef or pork), a ham, or a casserole type dish, where my housework is done and out of the way leaving me with quiet time to relax.

My mom always aimed to have things done and out of the way on Sunday's, so she could put on a nice meal for the family, so carrying on that tradition warms me inside.

This time of year I like to sit in the living room and soak up as much fireplace time as I can (my favourite), and all while reading a book, a magazine, or simply kicking back and and reflecting on life.

Weekdays vs weekends, it's all the same to me, but somehow the idea of weekends never fails to make me feel as though I have freed myself from the grasp of life in general. I avoid shopping on weekends purposely, and I don't like to have housework facing me on a weekend. In my world, weekends are a time for rest and relaxation, particularly Sunday's.
 
Stores are open, churches are closed (nobody goes anyway). We phone our younger daughter on Sunday mornings, and we usually have something a bit special (with a bottle of wine) for dinner. Apart from that, it's just another day here.
 
We don't have a hard and fast routine for Sundays. I almost always take the dogs out for a 2 to 2 1/2 mile walk in the morning and then we start our day. If I'm up early and finish showering before 6:30 I try to leave the house without waking my wife but sometimes that doesn't happen. Other than that the rest of the day is pretty much whatever we make it.

The rest of the day tends to be somewhat seasonal. Between spring and fall we will go over the mountains to Santa Cruz to pick up our wine club purchases and do some tasting. Other times during that period of time we'll take our bicycles somewhere (with or without the dogs) and go for a ride in the Monterey area, San Francisco or a new location Half Moon Bay. We also go camping several times a year and those Sundays are often the days we pack up our campsite to head home. During the winter and on rainy Sundays we'll watch TV, read, play a computer game or do a puzzle.

Some Sundays are our chore days depending on what happens during the rest of the week. Also sometimes my wife will work on Sundays if Instacart is paying well for batches.

we have it the other way around..stores are closed aside from essential stores like supermarkets ( during the lockdown) ... churches are open !! a normal sunday, then everything is open
