How does the death of your daughter make you feel? Is this really the story?

I get so sick of TV journalists asking crime victims about how they feel or how they felt being a victim of crime.

I think the majority of viewers who aren't sociopaths can probably guess how they're feeling. The news that they are devastated should not be a big surprise.

In fact, the only newsworthy response to the question would be, "You know, it doesn't bother me too much."

A shop owner in New York was attacked by a guy who she asked not to occupy the chairs set out front of her shop because they were intended for customers. The journalist asked the woman shop owner, "What was going through your mind as he attacked you?"

What answer are you expecting?...

"I was thinking that yesterday was a much better day since nobody was attacking me."

What a ridiculous woman. If you put chairs outside your store you can't control who sits there. She was wrong to do so if that is how she feels.

obviously I don't condone attacking her, but she's not too bright

you're correct OF.... it's all for click Bait ... ''Woman tells how she thought she was going to die'' when abuser attacked her... ''Woman thought abuser was going to chop her head off''... etc. Nothing to do with any sympathy for the victim, more interested in numbers of viewers..

There's an ordinance in all major cities in Calf that prohibits people from using any space where a business has posted a sign that says "Customers Only" unless they buy something from that business and use the space for its intended purpose, i.e., sitting up and enjoying a pumpkin latte and an apple cinnamon muffin.

The purpose of the ordinance is to protect the business owner. It helps ensure potential customers don't take their business elsewhere in disgust because people are sleeping all over the shop's outdoor tables and chairs, or smoking crack in the shop's restroom, or bathing in the shop's restroom sinks, or trying to suck a drink out of the shop's virtual waterfall display...etc.

And while Calif cops are protecting those small businesses from losing customers, they're also helping those non-customers - they don't hand them a ticket for the violation, they hand them mission cards instead. The cards have the names and addresses of places like the local Salvation Army where people in need can get some free coffee and/or food, and/or a shower, a bed, clean clothes, etc.

My son lives in a 'good' neighborhood in Manhattan. Many shops, on one block in particular, have benches outside on sidewalk with no signs 'for customers only' if they want to live. However, in 10 years I've never seen those benches abused. I have almost never seen a questionable person in this area. One block away, north & west I have, but never this block.

Here's the story.

Oh, her business was obviously part outside so yes, of course, customers only. I was thinking of the bench set up like on my son's next block up. On this block, it is hairdressers, nail people, and mail people, etc. who have benches outside and their business is strictly inside. Thanks for the clip. I apologize to the lady in question, not knowing the situation.

We're all human and we all make mistakes. Life is a learning lesson. Not too bright would be if she does it yet again.

All the media is looking to make a buck off some video clip, they don't care if it's in poor taste or not.

That said, if I had suffered some misfortune there's not a snowball's chance in hell that I'd submit to some reporter's effort at exploitation.

Exactly. They mill around looking for someone who is upset and will make a statement, a statement where just the key words can be edited out. Anything for a story.

The media has no concept of the average person ........they seem to believe we are all drooling idiots waiting for them to tell us things ....

I remember one local anchor asking a on the street reporter at an accident "how serious is a broken collarbone? "
If karma is real i hope she found out personally .

I have seen so many ask such insane questions and i wondered what was wrong with this person..... it is often a hyped up situation but i wish victims of crimes and other family did not play into this ..... seeing their tragedy played out as " coming up at 11" type promos
Most stories I look up to see if follow up and none were as they were Originally reported .... most was exaggerated.

The time I was the maddest at a reporter was several years ago when a reporter was interviewing a man who had tried to save his wife and child from a flood. He had been trying to get out of the flood with his wife in one arm and his child in the other. Just when he had about made it to safety, he was hit by floating debris from behind and knocked out. When he came to, seconds later, his arms were empty and he couldn't find his family.

The reporter, absolutely salivating with on-air-lust, asked him, "How did you feel when you realized your wife and child were gone?"

I wanted to reach through the TV screen and rip the reporter's larynx out with my bare hands. How the hell did he think the guy felt?
