Maybe. It depends. You're a guy amongst hordes of widows. Your odds are good, IMO, you're a man, believe me, that helps.

My grandfather tried to date but didn't like it. Ended up getting a cat.

My father isn't dating to my knowledge. He still misses mom too much I think. He had a couple cats but ended up taking them to the local vet to find them a home after he broke his hip.

Yes, if you're interested in finding a companion, it is possible. However, you can't sit around and hope that a nice lady will just show up at your door.

You've got to get yourself out there and meet people. If there are organizations or clubs in your area that have activities you might like, join them. Go with the intention of having a good time. You never know who you might meet.

I dated in my 50s and I asked myself, am I interested in becoming a care giver to the elderly? My answer was no.

Finding love is a young person's thing because you're looking ahead at a lifetime of good health. Later in life there are real world concerns to be measured against getting involved.

Life is simpler and more manageable on your own.

It just depends on the effort you make, the personality you have, and your choices.

If you really wanted a mate after the passing of a loved one, you wouldn't be typing your fingers off online. If you're a guy, the ratio of men to women gets way out of proportion as we age. Men become a rare commodity. As for me, if there was a woman, who could tolerate my quirks and eccentricities, they probably have a medicine for that.
