How does this work being a widowed or widower 💔

I posted in another threat that there are some people who can not stay single and have to be in relationship at all time, one spouse/partner after another, nonstop.

Hello from me, a widow since 2019. My answer would be, "it depends" . I was widowed after retirement, and really have never had an interest in getting back into the dating world.
But that does not answer your question. My concern is someone comparing the new companion to the old. Which would not be fair to the new companion. I know of people who have gone, happily into new relationships. I live in a senior apartment building, we have a few tenants who have become couples and seem happy,
You have to do what you're comfortable with and what makes you happy. There's nothing wrong with that.

I don’t want to be negative abt this, however I believe as one ages, the harder it is to find someone for a romantic relationship. All avenues and aspects become narrower. Narrower in what you are looking for in a mate. Narrower in what the other is looking for. This includes beliefs, values, lifestyles, what one can cope with, etc.

When we were young, we were flexible in everything. We were still in the learning and molding process. We had no experience of failure or pain yet.
Now that we are older, more experienced, we are more ridge with everything. Finding a mate lessens.

But as the other say; Anything is Possible.

And the consequences of failure are so much heavier. When we were young, most of us didn't have much. If it didn't work out, we could start over. Now the physical attraction of youth is gone, we are set in our ways, we have separate assets, at least one party probably has grown children / grandchildren, both sides have separate homes, and we are accustomed to our privacy, even though it may sometimes be lonely. And all that is just for starters.
