How I dodged a very spicy bullet

So shopping at Safeway, got some bell peppers, pearl onions, chicken, shallots, green onions, FrescaIMG_20230108_151806~2.jpgIMG_20230108_151806~2.jpg and a small package of Thai Peppers. I swear I didn't hear the "Jaws" theme.

So, chopped them all up in food chopper. The last (Thankfully) was the Thai Peppers. I trimmed off the tops and put them in for four spins at 5-6 seconds each.

As I'm curious and knowing nothing of Thai Peppers, I stuck a spoon in, got it wet with 1 small chunk on it, then wiped it on my tongue. It took 20 seconds to register, 30 to burn and 45 to say:
!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!FIRE!!!FIRE!!!

I thank God that was the last thing I chopped up, otherwise, all my peppers, onions and such would have caused me to OD in cimetidine (Generic Tagament) to survive.

Lesson learned. I found out these are 15 times hotter than jalapenos and more than habaneros.

Next time, research before buying. Now the heat has gone. It's been 20 minutes. You have been warned!

I'm glad to hear you dodged the spicy bullet! Guess I couldn't interest you in a nice Carolina Reaper? (For the record, I'm pretty much of a wimp and can't even usually handle a poblano... now a bell pepper is right up my alley.) :ROFLMAO:

She's not a fan of really spicy food but on request mama makes great big jars of homemade kimchi for me and she adds at my request Thai dried & ground hot peppers in to the already warmish kimchi seasoning she buys.....I don't want it hot enough to burn me up on the first bite but rather I want the heat to slowly build to barely tolerable as I eat it as a side with a meal.

I've cooked chicken, lightly brushed a few chunks into the pan and stirred it up. Feeling the burn, but not agony. That was 6 small chunks, I've got enough for YEARS......
