How important to you is your computer?

Great for research and keeping in touch with people. Enjoy all sorts of things from around the world. Never know what you will find,
also there are times I don't bother going on. Life at times gets real busy here. Especially in the fall.

My computer is my "electronic" mailbox, online research library, entertainment centre etc. and as a result I have become quite dependent on it for many things. Also like the larger screen, size of the keyboard much better than the cell (phone) as my eyes certainly aren't what they used to be.

My computer has become a big part of my life and I would miss it terribly but at times it frustrates the life out of me.

I have a new MAC desktop all in one and my screen is 24 inches.. very comfortable to read.. ( I also have a laptop, Ipad, and Iphone) :D

Computers are a window on the world, a source of company and communication, a learning tool and ready source of information, and like books allow you to take a vicarious journey all without leaving the comfort of your home. Unlike books, however, the computer is interactive. While we all can well remember a time before home computers, they're probably the best and most usable part of future promises to have actually arrived during our lifetime...

My computer opens the world to me while still at home.
Read local newspapers & ones where sons live.

So many things to look up via the 'net.

Keep in touch with friends using emails.
Write emails,, reread,, correct spelling ,, change words /wordings finally send them off.
I tend to say too much on the phone or forget what I wanted to say,, so emails are good for me.

I have had a computer since 1993, before Windows (which I don't use now anyway) and before social media (using bulletin boards to connect to others). So my computer is very important to me. It is my connection to my family and friends. I belong to a number of other forums but don't go to them every day. I write a blog, pay bills and shop online. Do all my research online. I love being on my computer and I am sure it would depress me terribly without it.

I fell in love with the internet with Web TV and when I finally bought my first computer in the mid 90's I had no clue what do do with it, or even how to turn it on without a book manual. What? I said to the guy on the phone...it comes without a book? "Yes" he said, "you have to turn it on first to find the instructions". That's when I packed it up and took it back to the store only to be told, there will be a half the cost "restocking charge".
A very long story made short, is I learned how to use it for what I wanted.
Back in the day with my Web TV and I was still smoking, I could smoke a whole cigarette before it ever loaded. Thank goodness for the glass of wine with it.
Yeah, I remember those good old days when I could go get a cup of coffee, put in a load of laundry waiting for the old desktop to fire up.

And how slow the dial-up Aol server was. And how only one person at a time in the family could get on the internet at a time. It usually wasn't me, not with two other early internet addicts who shared this service.

I only have one computer in the house as I'm the only user.

Right now it's a Chromebook that was highly recommended by a couple of family members. Screen size is OK at about 12 in. wide. Still learning as it is quite different from the desktops that I have always had previously. Love the portability factor though .... a big plus IMO.

I will admit the same, before i first entered in the computer world, i had a bad habit of criticizing computer people, not aloud, to myself.
Now, after been with this technology for a few years, i don't want to be without it.
I'm not on them 24/7, but i do enjoy my time with them.
Emails, text messages, puzzles, paint by #, coloring. The whole 9 yards.
I've tried other sites such as this one, but i enjoy this one the most.:love::love::love::love::love::love::love:.
I tend to get in a tither, which i thought i would never do, when there's a power outage, but i usually have something charged and downloaded just in case.
Now......Could i ever go without......NEVER......Too much learning to do.....The world is ours at a click.

The kids bought us a WebTV back in the 1990s and we have worked our way through a number of computers since.

We don't bank on line, on the premise that if "it ain't there they can't hack it". Our banking needs are very simple, so there is no need.

Now that's the truth! I've always been curious about so many things. As a little kid, I used to drive my Mama nuts with so many questions about everything. They bought me two sets of Encyclopedias and they often were not enough.

Being the remarkable mother that she was, we'd head for the library together to find the answers to my questions. We were on a first name basis with the librarian there, and she would help us with the "card files "..remember those?" Some of my best memories of Mama are because of those answered question we learned together.

I hope she sees me on this amazing computer, still wanting to learn. I only wish she had lived long enough to know the wonder of it. 👩‍❤️‍👩

I don't know what to do with myself when I can't use my desktop computer. If I can't use it because of repairs, etc. I pull out my laptop. That helps a lot even if the power is off because I can still use it and at least play Solitaire until the battery goes dead.
