How important to you is your phone?

For years, I had a flip phone. I cracked up when I saw people huddled over an iPhone, just typing away. I mean, REALLY, how could you get so engrossed in a little box!! Then I bought one. It's never left my side since. When it's charging, I feel naked because i don't have my phone. How important to you is your phone?

Both have smartphones, wife uses her's more than I. She texts, talks & snaps photos. I usually have mine turned off. But they are good for emergencies. I have too many electronic toys now. I use my tablet more for inquiries, impulse buying & chair side web browsing.

Not much. It is a flip phone that can not even receive or make calls from our home! My wife has a smart phone and we depend on that during trips. But I usually take my flip phone along for emergency use. Mostly I use my flip phone to register road kill deer in the late fall!

From home I use my iPad and much prefer it. I never understood how typing and viewing on the area the size of a few postage stamps represented progress.

Interesting responses here.

I cancelled my landline in 2010 along with the newspaper. My cell phone is my quickest mode of communication in case of emergency or need to summon medical help and I have needed and used it for that purpose several times. It goes where I go and if momentarily misplaced the search is on.

Btw, there was a news story yesterday about AT&T canceling landlines and asking customers to switch to VOIP.

I have an all singing all dancing Iphone.. this is my 4th or 5 th..prior to that I had Blackberry...

It's not important to me as it seems to be to many people. I am not someone who is looking at my phone 10 times a day.. in fact very often the only time I pick it up is if I'm checking if it needs charged..

I take it out with me for 3 reasons.. one to receive or make calls , one to Take photos... and one in case of an emergency and I break down somewhere..

I have a landline, so most people call me on that when I'm home...
