Spent some time hopefully sorting out my lawn mower which spluttered and died a few weeks ago. Youtube is great on there occasions as there are plenty of videos showing how to clean the carburettor. It wasn't hard to find the problem - water in the petrol. I don't know how it got there, but probably leaving the petrol can sitting out in all weathers. I managed to drain the petrol tank, strip down the carburettor and clean it with a set of tools made for the job. Now I needed 'clean' petrol, but fortunately there was some in an old mower that I was given.

The mower started up OK and I've got a clean empty petrol can I'll fill tomorrow when I'm topping up the car. Then I suppose I'll have to cut the grass. As for the old mower, it's OK for rough work, but doesn't leave a good finish.
I rented the upstair's apt. of this 2 apt. house (back in 1975) from a landlord who expected me to mow the lawn with an thousand pounds-it seemed- dull bladed iron lawnmower. One day while straining to push that thing through the grass, a neighbor took pity on me :) and mowed the lawn with his gas powered mower. It took the landlord's wife to insist I be given a gas powered mower. And using it almost made mowing the lawn a pleasure. I now live on the 1st floor. My new landlord bought this house in '2000 and has his employees do the mowing. 😁

I'm down to 3 days before I leave for Italy on Friday, and I'm kind of freaking out about trying to remember all the steps that need to get done before I go. Also my brain has gotten old because last year for my Greek trip I bought an esim and it all made sense and was easy to use (for Greece, tho I never figured it out for Turkey), but now when I watch the very same YouTube that I learned from last year, it is all so confusing to me! Boo hoo.

Then today I got an email that the Vatican is going to be closed Saturday (due to the pope's death), which was the day my Vatican-tour was scheduled and I had to contact the tour company and find out what other free time was on the itinerary and then I rushed to grab a Vatican tour spot for that new window of time. Whew! I understand now why the Italy Tour didn't include the Vatican (due to 'unpredictability') and had instructed people to make independent reservations for it.

I keep reminding myself that the planning, organization, initiative, flexibility, etc., is all part of the benefit of travel, but part of me really wants to curl up in a ball and hide.

Sunny Day!
Hubby & I saw his doctor got paperwork that will tell Dr. whats happening with hubby's legs.

Stopped at Walmart for milk & cereal.

Hubby busy hauling gravel.

Does any one have United Healthcare for supplemental insurance?

My insurance rate is High....... too high,, leaves me $500 for food.
Glad our house was paid for over 40 years ago........propriety taxes will probably go up this year too. o_O

I have UHC for my medigap plan G. It turns out that Maryland is a state where a person can change their plan during their birthday month, but after I looked at all the other options it seems that UHC is still the best choice for me, even tho they naturally raise their rate (and reduce my age-discount) every year.

Busy day. I went down to the laundry room just before daylight and did a double load. I intended to walk to the supermarket at least by 9:30, after traffic dies down, but I fell asleep, so didn't leave until after 10:30. When I got home, I had a snack (bought Nathan's battered onion rings for the first time) and tried the mini ice cream cones while re-watching a couple of episodes of Will Trent from S2. Now I'm drying the laundry. I have to load my dryer twice to finish drying the double loads and since most of it is towels, it'll take a couple of hours.

To make room for the new laundry, I'll empty the laundry basket from last time and likely put some of today's laundry away. I've got a couple of business calls to make and if I'm not too tired before it's all said and done, I'll clean the kitchen and bathroom floors using the Swiffer system. That is so much easier than mopping. I'm glad I do not have to cook anything today....I can heat up the spring rolls or make broccoli salad and my son made bean soup.

Have a glorious day everyone.

Take a deep breath! It will all be fine and fun!

Its been a beautiful, sunny but breezy day here in WNY, temps in mid 50's
This morning a'spur of the moment' took local bus went to Super Cuts got my haircut, now its really short. I knew it was time when I washed&dried my hair last night, the hair was all over my head, having natural curly hair will do that sometimes
The rest of my day took a couple of walks, read today's NYT.After dinner will tackle the daily crossword puzzle, see which hockey team ESPN is airing tonight in the playoffs

This morning started off foggy, but it's brightened up now and it looks like being a good day for some gardening. It's still a bit cold overnight, so there's a daily routine of covering the tomato plants with a protective fleece at night and rolling this back in the morning.
Loads of vegetable plants to 'pot on' and more ground to prepare.

It seems like a lot of work at times, but we mainly grow plants/varieties that we can't buy in the shops. It's also nice to have tomatoes that taste of tomato instead of red watery ones flown half way across the world.

Morning peeps...

Raining this morning. I got up early because I am expecting a call from my doctor.. didn't know what time today but I got up anyway in case.

Then I went to the loo.. and missed his call at 9am........ so I've called back immediately.. and I'm number 37 in the queue...😩
All our landline appliances are cordless, doctor would have joined me in the loo, irrespective of the performance.

Had a call from work, more of a help! Would I visit a customer and have a quiet word in his ear? Our driver is being delayed when he collects the customer's goods for onward delivery. The delay is having a knock on effect with the driver's other customer collections.
It's going to take a diplomatic word but I have an idea. The manager that I shall be seeing is a hat wearer, nothing like a fedora to lighten the mood.

All 3 of my phones have been cordless for more than 20 years..however the doctor was due to call me on my mobile..

Goodness me it's just after 10.45.. and already it's been a very busy morning....

Several phone calls.. to and from...people

Had to try and sort some financial problems out with my council as well ...they are not in the least bit helpful... I had to search through file boxes galore to find a reference number from years ago before they would help me...:cautious:

Spoke to the doctor and she's going to refer me to a private hospital for the abdominal surgery that I should have had in January, when they sent me home saying they had no beds.. ..so hopefully the private hospital will take up the cudgel... and I'll get my operation there.. because my condition is worsening..

Postman came with 2 heavy parcels.. he's been my postman for years.. so we banter between each other..

I was expecting a fresh meat delivery from Scotland this morning... and had a text saying it wasn't arriving today... this is the second time this has happened.. and it's a concern despite it being in an insulated box.. because it's fresh meat and it's been on the road for 2 days already..

I received my Medicare Part D prescription drug payments report for the last month from my insurance company. Something new (for me) was a TrOOP ("True Out Of Pocket") Credit for almost $250 on my 28 day prescription for Mounjaro.

That's why it only cost me $30 when I picked it up. Only the Fickle Finger of Fate knows whether a renewal would get this Credit once more, assuming it gets renewed after my appointment next Monday.

What does True out of pocket (Troop) mean? | BCBSM

It can sure get complicated. Who knew that we're supposed to establish a completely separate login for Medicare? Unrelated to the SSA account, and it doesn't use the Login.gov system either. Doing so and logging in... it doesn't seem to do much real good anyway aside from letting you order a replacement Medicare card.

Good morning, Invisipeeps. It's going to be overcast with on-and-off showers today and maybe a thunderstorm. Or not.

If I can get myself together, I'll spread the other four sacks of mulch. It was a lacey night again so we'll see.

Amazon sent my replacement Keurig, and it took about a nanosecond to charge me for it. I promptly shipped the defective one back, and they're supposed to issue a credit to my account when they receive it. They should have had it yesterday...I wish they were as quick to issue a credit as they are to charge for the new one.

Is it okay if I go back to bed?

here inthe UK...the second you've taken an item to the Post office to initiate the return Amazon puts the money into your account..they don't wait for it to arrive back with them...

@hollydolly I Googled "smart beds" and "smart mattresses" in the UK. There are any number of them that have adjustable firmness, temperature and incline, just none called "Sleep Number." They are pricey for sure, but for your back's sake maybe worth the price.

Does the new mattress that you bought recently have any kind of warranty?

I don't know whether it has a warranty..I'll have to find the sales receipt.. ... I'm loathe to pay for another expensive mattress tbh.. given this one was very expensive.. and it hurts my back so much... .
