Like you we have a loam type soil, but it had been neglected for years. The previous neighbour used to let sheep graze on it to keep the grass down. The topsoil is reasonably deep, but sits on stone and clay. The garden slopes slightly and so it drains quickly. We've been trying to bring up the fertility with compost and artificial fertiliser and we now get pretty good crops.what type of soil do you have there?
here I have a Loam type of soil , which is a bit stoney.... ..it grows pretty much anything easily...
The next village and town have clay soil.. that's horrible....
The apple and cherry trees are coming out in bloom, though only one of our crab apple trees has blossom. It's nice to have a decent sized garden, but it's hard work at times.
