I was complaining about not winning anything and yesterday I won $5.00 on the lottery and a free ticket on Fantasy 5. I only bought 2 tickets, so I guess I shouldn't complain. :D

Today is cloudy but no rain in the forecast. Went to get a sandwich for lunch for both of us. Hope you are all doing well.:)

Woke up with left leg sciatica today. I'm blaming it on a new blanket.

Picked up prescriptions, including higher-dose Mounjara for 4 weeks. So far so good, copay was the same. Can't wait to feel the symptoms though.

Got a health insurance mailing showing great deals on hearing aids covered. Almost makes me sad that I'm not deaf. Ok, not really, just FOMO.

Is this enough to keep me registered for the Old Fart Olympics of Aches and Pains?
**sigh**

It's 6.30p,...I'm feeling quite cold today, I think it must be the stiff breeze..... it's 53 deg outside.. but it says it's 20 deg in the house. I really need to put a cardigan on....

I've just had dinner.. and I Batch cooked a big pot of minced beef , with beef gravy and 4 veggies , and potioned them all out on the counter where they're now cooling before I freeze them

Is it time to see the White Coats about physical therapy?

Almost sad is ok as long as you are not deaf. It is no fun!

Myself…all dressed up and ready for the concert staycation.
*wails* noooooo........ wait for meeeeeeeee.........

We're on what they used to call a "death watch" today. The Spousal Equivalent's brother, who just visited us last week with his wife, had another heart attack yesterday and is in very, very bad condition.

He had to go into the hospital the day after they got home from Florida but they sent him home a couple of days later, wanting him to come back later this week for more tests. Last evening, his wife found him nonresponding and she didn't know how long he hadn't been breathing.

He's in the hospital on a respirator, heavily sedated. Tests show more serious damage to his heart. So far, they don't know how much brain damage he has suffered.

We're just waiting for updates. Vacation is on hold.

For most of their lives, the brothers were estranged (they never got along as kids), which was a great source of sorrow to their mother. When their mother died, they actually started talking, which segued into visiting and now they talk on the phone at least once a week and get along well. I am quite fond of both him and his wife and enjoy visits from them.
Sorry to hear this @jujube.

Now on a sunny blue sky with a 78F high expected later Monday May 5, 2025, I'm into my day 4 of surgery recovery. My recovery this first week continues to be slow, uneven, uncomfortable. However am out of significant mortal dangers versus last Thursday afternoon when I was wheeled on a patient transport cart into the Kaiser Permanente Hospital operating room. My 76 year old life's first major surgery experience. My immune system knocked out the foul gastroenteritis virus I obviously picked up at the hospital in less than a day so can eat more normally now.

I have a large bandaged, angled, 5 inch incision in my left groin with much as yet unviewable stitching both on my skin surface as well as below attaching gut membranes and ligaments to synthetic mesh implants. The doctor's long impressive technical report of what they performed and saw is surprisingly detailed with medical terminology I will at some time analyze to understand.

Laying or sitting still has little sensation but movement like rising from a chair and moving, I can feel small areas of stitching monofilament pain that will take time to heal and recede. Even sitting up from say a prone bed position must be done slowly, gingerly.

Fortunately, as a retired senior that prepared my residence beforehand, I don't need to return to employment, drive my car elsewhere, meet with any others, or engage in any activity outside my older two story residence. And that includes enough food to last until I drive in maybe a week. I could drive briefly now if necessary, but will not. Each day, I'll walk outside briefly to fetch my postal mail.

A major unexpected debacle has however made my recovery period very different than what I had expected and the main reason for of noting such in seniorforums dot com as it will impact my activity herein. Two years ago my old 2003 era HP Windows desktop motherboard with all my graphic software, power supply function failed in a way I would not be able to repair by merely replacing the power supply module. Now collecting dust. Was able to move Photoshop and other key software to my expensive powerful 2014 Dell XPS-15 laptop and run from there.

But prior to driving to the hospital Thursday, Windows 10 was apparently secretly trying to install one of their hidden from user awareness updates. Not having time to wait for whatever that was to complete after running Shutdown, with the power on button forced a shutdown that corrupted key boot files. The last couple days twice ran from a command prompt chkdsk /f that shows uncorrectable attributes file errors putting the drive into a stuck write protect mode. Although most of my important personal files are safe on two other external 4tb drives, the graphic apps like Photoshop are not.

Thus now need to wait till I am recovered from surgery enough to visit a PC repair service where they have special programs capable of rebuilding the corrupted file structures. If that doesn't work will run a low level format then rebuild, installing Windows and all. Or buy a new desktop.

In the mean time for web use, am using my old moto g6 Android phone and as I type, a cheap slow $220 Windows 11 pc laptop I bought last year for travel and possible situations like this. It uses a touchpad I dislike versus computer mouse and lacks many programs I had on the Dell. So yeah, am here but hobbled. Since I can't do much real computer work else anyway, will probably spend more time at this board than expected.

My Dell with a 24" 4k UHD external monitor was downstairs on a fancy multi level mobile computer cart in my living room where I could watch TV at the same time. Instead my new "headquarters" will be upstairs atop a king size floor mattress in my southwest bedroom next to a large window with good light to the west. Per doctor instructions, am drinking a lot more fluids than usual. With my adjacent bathroom, don't need to walk up and down stairs. So have lots of items on the floor next to me I can easily grab. Just made 8oz of a Trader Joe's vegetable fried rice package for lunch.

Ooh, sorry about your computer problems. Not a great time for that if ever there was. However, glad to see you recovering steadily.

Sounds like your recovery is moving along well, if a bit inconvenient @David777. Try not to sneeze;)

Sneezing or coughing are both bad but have already figured out how to deal with coughing that I occasionally do a bit every day from ordinary sinus drainage, often early mornings. Surprisingly not mentioned on any medical websites I've looked at. What I do is, before feeling an urge to cough, press with both hand fingers deeply into my diaphragm. That disconnects the sudden downward thrust against one's lower GI tract.

It’s a lovely day. Still jeans and a light jacket weather in the mornings. After I had my hair cut, I walked around that area just to enjoy different scenery. Neighbours are starting to hang outside and I got caught up on latest happening - mostly illnesses, since this is a seniors area.

Now I have to get excited about my afternoon grocery shopping. I’m easy to please.

If you get excited about grocery shopping, you're definitely easy to please:D. I don't think there's ever been a time when I've been excited to shop for groceries. Nope.

While I was up in the middle of the night, I checked my credit card balances so I can project what we’ll be paying in June. I also filled my son’s request to add his phone number to Wells Fargo card to make it easier for him to make purchases that require two factor identification (if he needs to do it when we’re not together). I didn’t think they allowed two numbers, but they do.

Now that I know how to change the iTunes font from so tiny that it was illegible, I finally sat here and figured out how to get my iTunes app to work on this computer. It kept “saying” can’t play songs because files were not found”. I had to locate the backup folder that was on my Western Digital hard drive and slide it onto the desktop. I then slid that folder onto the iTunes app. I had imported most of the songs from iTunes into YouTube Music, which unlike iTunes I can listen to on the computer and my devices, but YTM has its limitations. I also made a few business calls and had a nice chat with my son.

I'm due soon to have abdominal surgery, and others who have the same surgery say the pain is bad when sneezing or coughing after surgery... and have been advised to always keep a cushion handy and to press that against the abdomen , when sneezing or coughing, you might want to try that,.

Give me a big grocery store and when you will come to get me. I used to spend three rounds of skeet at the Bull Run, VA Safeway on Saturdays'.

Good morning, I am going to take my husband for a C-scan of his lungs. He had a spot on them but took antibiotics and now needs another check. The doctor didn't think it was too serious when last checked.

I didn't mind grocery shopping when I was able to walk around the store and not get so tired but now I just go when out of something I need before getting groceries delivered. I suppose I will always have to have the deliveries for many items at one time.

Best wishes to all of you today..

Okay, then. Today I really am going to get off my dead center and do stuff in the garden because it's supposed to start raining tonight and keep raining for heaven knows how long. Until the cows come home maybe.

It's cold out again this morning but the sun is supposed to stay out all day, and no wind is expected. If we aren't being lied to again...

I was going to make sausage/egg/cheese biscuits this morning but have decided to wait until Thursday when DSIL might have a day off and when it's supposed to rain all day.

Saturday he went to work at 4:30am and didn't get home until 2:30am Sunday, then had to be back at work at 10am Sunday. Oy! He's management to it's not like he gets paid more for all those hours. I want a job but not one with hours like that....

@Rae Remember when couponing was such a big thing? I sure wouldn't mind having a stash now like some had back then, but getting fresh stuff would still be a pain in the como se llama.

Hey, Invisipeeps. Am I the only one who's news'd out? It's getting to where I don't even want to know what's happened or is happening.

Fingers are crossed!

At this point Amazon is my source for deliveries and SO does a lot of grocery shopping and shopping in general on his way home. He drives through the center of town. It is time to look into delivery. Kroger has popped up but no brick and mortar stores.

It sounds like you have company or at least entertainment.

Thank you, you are so kind in your words.

Deliveries are so much better for me. Maybe they will be better for you, too. Believe it or not you can get bargains on them.

Best of everything for you, too.

I will probably ask for how to help on SF.
