Dinner is on.... I'm cooking belly pork rashers, in a red onion, red wine beef and mustard gravy... , and I'll have that with mashed sweet potato, and swede...

Temps have dropped significantly... had to have the heating on for an hour and a half to warm the place up... tonight is forecast to be minus 2....but tomorrow and friday will see freezing but Sunny days... before we get a lot of rain again at the weekend

@KSav , I have always wanted a weather meter, not just a rain gauge, but the whole shebang that tells me everything for at home.

Do you have any suggestions of those that might be under $100?

The HVAC tech came and did the annual inspection on my HVAC system. Thankfully, it again passed with flying colors. They don’t charge very much money to do an inspection. I suppose that’s because they don’t want to come out in the middle of winter if something breaks; especially where I live🤠🤠

temperatures where I live are in the high 70° with humidity, but I’m not supposed to get any rain in my area today. Had rain in the middle of the night which was much appreciated.

I saw a big armadillo in the front pasture, rooting for grubs. The dogs saw it too. They tried to open the window🤯

I don’t mind that they make divits in the ground for grubs just as long as they don’t dig huge holes in the middle of the pasture, like groundhogs do.

The CMA awards are on ABC tonight in case anybody is interested. I like watching them because it’s lighthearted and music is involved.

ironing: I haven’t done that since I was in my teens. When I married my son‘s father, he harbored the false notion that I would iron his underwear. Boy was he sorely mistaken😂😂. l

Hi @Imogene, I don't have any recommendations for a home weather meter like you mentioned, but your local National Weather Service office can almost certainly advise on affordable ones. I think the most important thing about those, or anything that gauges temperature in particular, is where they are placed. My ex used to get so upset at those bank signs that display the weather ("The sensor is right in the sun! It's so inaccurate!" It was actually pretty endearing.)

And you mentioned HVAC systems: I was very irritated to find out that the units in my building have heat pumps (which I detest) and are set to run on auxiliary heat (i.e., electric heat, which is expensive) at a cutoff of 50 F (10 C). I knew my unit had a heat pump when I moved in, but I'd already signed the lease. (I'm glad your system is all set for winter.)

Heat pumps absorb warmth from outside and transfers it inside. I'm not sure whose brilliant idea it was to install them at a building in North Dakota, where there IS no outdoor heat for about 8 months of the year.

Sorry for the rant, everyone! I hope everyone is having a great day, or evening, or morning, depending on where you are. :)

@KSav , thank you very much for your input🤠

I agree with you on heat pumps in North Dakota — whose dumb idea was that? I am in southern Middle Tennessee and I wouldn’t want a heat pump.

Years ago on the OH/PA border, I lived in a house with electric heat and I didn’t like that either. I never felt warm and yepper the electric bill was ridiculous.
