Did you hit your head? Call that doc and get the appointment back... ;) Next time you step out the door, don't fall down...

(This is a note from your cyber-nurse-fishwife....:ROFLMAO: nagging you...).

The phase of winter that's hard for me is when the sky is overcast, making the day dim.

Here, we can't escape awareness of how important accumulated snow is for us. We drive slower, and have winter tires on, November to late March. Right now I think the snow on the retired railroad track may be sufficient & and firm. May take a ski today.
Great, you might as well have fun.
We don't get as much snow as you, but we do get it every year.

Tires....I remember my father putting chains on them before they were banned and the sound they made. After that it's snow tires or all season radials.

The high today is 71, and will be in the 70s and 60s for the next 10 days. Boy, is this different from life in the Frozen North.

Today I am going to make all my doctor's and lab appointments. I have been putting this off for a couple of months, so this will be a big achievement. I am also going to gather the documents together to get my driver's license. I finally got my birth certificate from the Department of State a couple of months ago, so I have all the proof I need to get a license from this state.

Sense a theme? I am the Procrastinator in Chief.

Once I get the appointments made, I will go to them, but not happily or particularly willingly. My daughter thinks I don't like "adulting", but actually I don't like senior adulting -- too many medical appointments.

Also, I had a film developed that I've been carting around for about 15 years. It will be ready today and my son will pick it up. I hope it's not blank. I have no idea what was on that roll.

Other than that stuff, I am going to continue getting my place organized. Probably get my son to take several pieces of clothing I don't like to a thrift store. I'm not going to wear them and I've had them for a year. They are good quality and in like new condition, as they have never been worn for more than a couple of minutes.
Ooh, old film! You never know what photos you'll discover! I hope they're good.

Oh Hawkie, I am so sorry about this! No walking on ice, please. May you heal very soon. Many hugs to you,

Staging continues as does my over eating and avoiding exercise beyond digging a trench and moving rock in my backyard.

Am own worst enemy. BUT am thrilled with the news my sister is coming to visit the end of Feb!

Sis is bringing her pickleball paddle and "a bucket of balls" she wrote. Yay.
My older sister is THE pickleball queen of women over 72, and wants me to help her drill on her PB skills!

Me "helping" her mainly consists of me chasing balls. She says I've done well at that all my life;)! :ROFLMAO:

I told her: At least there is one thing I am better at than you! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Glorious day today...verrry sunny.... 🌞🌞🌞48 deg...

I've got to wait in for a phone call from my daughter in a few minutes, then I have to parcel up my latest Ebay sales, and get them to the Post office.

We were told yet more of our Banks are closing.. we've already lost thousands of banks , this is their quest to get us to go cashless... As it is I have to go to the next town to get a branch of my bank now... there isn't another one for 20 miles...so it came as a shock to be told the one in the next town is closing as well ....so I asked on the local FB group how are people supposed to deposit cash now that the banks are all closed... and I was blocked for ''Hate Speech''.......that tells you everything you need to know !😣
We're all in the same boat when it comes to banks. Our nearest town used to have Lloyds, TSB, Bank of Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland, Clydesdale and Santander which is still open. Our nearest TSB and B of S are 14 miles away, but are closing in May leaving the nearest open bank 14 miles in the opposite direction. We are able to do some banking through the Post Office, but since most of them have closed too, the nearest one is 8 miles away.

Exactly, our little market town also had all those banks you listed but in the last 5 years all have gone......my nearest one currently is in the next town, which has no public transport to it from where I live.. so anyone wthout a car is stuffed... and once they close that branch and also the branch of Lloyds.. the next closest will be 20 miles up the motorway.. just disgraceful...

Also today we're told that our part of the county is now being proposed to have only waste bin emptying once every 3 weeks.. !!

Can you believe it... it's incredibly hard to have it only every 2 weeks as it has been for a couple of years now.. but if my bin is full every 2 weeks, how are they expecting me to cram more in for a 3 week wait.....and that 's with me putting all my recycling into the recycling bin..cardboard etc..

Folkies.. some times I go a whole day or 2 without speaking to an actual face to face human.... other days I seem to speak to everyone and his cousin, and today was one of those days...

I had to take a parcel to the Post office, which is in the local town... and as I had to pay to park, I thought I may as well get my money's worth, and just go into the pub ( Spoons @Furryanimal ) and have some lunch ..which I did, it was absolutely packed... this is a big pub, and it was just wall to wall peple... really I'm convinced most people don't go to work these days...

Anyway I bumped into some old friends in there, and had a good old catch -up.... and saw a girl ( woman) that I've known since she was about 10 years old.. her deceased parents were friends of mine.. she was in the pub, now 50 something years old, and to my utter astonishment, she had not only her daughter with her, but her grand-daughter, and her 2 great grandchildren. !:eek:...how did that little 10 year old, who I gave clothing to .. become the matriarch and great grandmother is such a short time !..WOW!

Once I got home, I had the internet provider guy call me as he promised yesterday. he'd given me some instructions to make my TV work as it should but hasn't since I lost the internet a week ago.. I followed his instructions and it didn't work so he called today and gave me step by step instructions and it all worked again, thank goodness,,

@Jules.. as almost all of our ATM's are attached to the bank, then when a bank closes so does the ATM... ..we have ATM's in supermarlets and train stations... but not stand alone ATM's ..

Might be our strongest storm this winter today. A cool 57F outside with moderate to heavy rain, so damp and cool. I love it as it will bring our seasonal rainfall up to near normal levels, guaranteeing decent spring wildflowers in March and April for my photography fun. Here in California we often have these winters in which a single large Pacific storm delivers the bulk of a years rainfall and snows in mountains.

Got an expedited UPS delivery about 11am this morning with a new BofA Visa card since they detected fraud last Friday.

Drove to my hospital 6 miles away in heavy rain, thoroughly washing my old Forester then got another blood test with good normal level results. This is storm number 2 in the series of 3. On way home stopped at a Walmart Neighborhood Market and used the new Visa card without issues. By this weekend the storms will have moved away from Northern California. So will continue to listen to water pleasantly splashing down rain gutters the rest of the day.

In a couple days the storm will move down the coast south to @StarSong, @Nathan, and @packleader that needs it much more.
It appears this rain is fizzling out before it can reach us (we are located Southeast of San Bernardino.) But stronger storms have been promised for the next two days. BTW, with a little bit of imagination, you can see the straight line of the San Andreas Earthquake Fault from Gorman to Palm Springs. The 8 to 9 point earthquake, on the Richter scale, is overdue and will be devastating because the Los Angeles areas has supposedly some14 million inhabitants. Well, eventually San Andreas will have moved Los Angeles to be a neighbor of San Francisco but don't hold your breath.

Our Eucalyptus Trees are in full bloom; the Bird of Paradise is blooming only in winter as well.

Left: Three pups provide endless entertainment. Just one example: Heidi top left loves Otto bottom left. She snuggles on to him. Otto feels it's too crowded, so he moves to the third dog bed under my bed. Within half an hour, Heidi will follow him; and Otto will eventually move back to where he was first. Guess what? And the story goes on and on. Right: No, not a painting; just an odd cloud formation.

I did a little more in the garden. We're supposed to have a gulley-washer rain starting around 5.

While I was puttering, I notice a few teeny, tiny, itty bitty sprouts of new grass! They'd have been easier to see if I'd had a magnifying glass:D, but they were there for sure. Maybe after the rain ends tomorrow, there will be more.

This morning I had laser surgery to clear a clogged artery in my leg. I am walking a little better already. It gives me hope.
You know what ?..I've come to the conclusion that you truly are Wonder woman....

Hollydolly, we have 3 waste bins and a food waste 'caddy'. The 3 bins, paper, recyclable plastic etc., and non-recyclable waste are collected on a rotation basis every week. The food waste is collected every week. Glass and garden waste is not collected, but there is a glass collection point in the village. We recycle as much garden waste as possible and dump the rest at a recycling centre when we're in town.

Came in from walking the dog.
Still patches slippery ice on the yard & driveway.

Tried to keep Mac's leash short so he couldn't pull me off balance.
Kept telling him "Easy ".

At times it looks like he is tippie toeing on the ice.

Yipee,, I made us a loaf of homemade wheat bread with our bread machine.
Have had the bread flours in the freezer & yeast in fridge freezer.

Hubby surprised me by cutting into the bread, at lunch.
Thought he didn't care for that kind of bread.

Good morning greyones!! Well I sure slept last nite, after a
sleepless mon nite, no probs breathing till I got up today,
not too bad...hope the mistiness on the road out there does
not turn into ice, that would screw up my doc app't at 1pm
today....it is 28F right now, high of 40f later maybe....anyhoo
have a great day all..... :giggle: :coffee::coffee:
Now that sounds like an improvement!
