@Trila I did get them all gathered up and in the same place. The trick now is to keep them corralled.

Morning chores done except for making the bed and getting dressed. Made sausage/egg/cheese biscuits for the crew next door. They're up...I can hear their nuke box humming to heat up the biscuits.

I gotta go outside when it warms up a little and gather up all the debris from yesterday's wind. Lots of downed branches again.

Our high temp yesterday was 76. It's only 37 right now and probably won't get to 50 today.

Is it spring yet?
Spring? I'm ready, count me in!

Gemma, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's recent report, Many hugs and good wishes for the upcoming treatments....hang in there..🤗🤗
Thank you @Jackie23. He's been cancer free for the past 5 years, then this surprise hit us in November. This type of cancer, we are told, is not curable, just manageable with chemo and special meds. One day at a time...

Sitting here, going through SF reading posts while drinking a cup of coffee and watching the news with the updates on New Orleans incident.

Looking out the window, seeing big snowflakes fall. Temperature is falling and expecting snow the next few days. Hoping the lake effect snow stays North of us.

Have laundry to do today because tomorrow we will be up early and heading to the local hospital for my husbands MRI's. Then Friday, to another hospital 75 miles away, for surgery to have a chemo-port put in his chest. Next week, chemo starts. He was diagnosed with a new lung cancer in November, after having a lung biopsy.

We are keeping optimistic and take it one day at a time.

Making a pork loin & Kraut with baby red mashed potatoes for dinner today.
awww Gemma I'm so sorry to hear your news... I wish your husband everything you and he both wish for him....

@Georgiagranny ...'Voluntold''.... brilliant..I'm gonna use that (y)
I didn't catch that one when @Georgiagranny posted it....good word!!!

Dear oh dear, it's really rubbish weather for the first day of the year. It's pouring, it's cold, it's dark now at 4.20pm... I've just been out to the barn freezer to get food out for dinner.. usually just go there without a jacket even if it's raining slightly , it's not far... but I had to dash back in and get a coat, it's so miserable...
The forecast is for up to a foot of snow in the coming days...

I'm making the same for dinner w/o kraut but with apples.Good thoughts for your husband. 🤗

Okay, then. Dishes washed. I even cleaned the stove...yanno the drip pans and raise the top and clean underneath. Yup. Did that. Still haven't made the bed, but it's past noon now so maybe I won't bother. I only see it if I go in the bedroom, and there's no reason to go in there until bedtime.

DSIL is sick. He was sick yesterday, too, but it was NYE so his employees almost all called out sick. Maybe they were, maybe not. He's too sick to work today even if nobody else shows up. Can we say flu vaccine? Can we say mask up when you work with the public? But nooooo...

There probably won't be traditional New Year's Day dinner today; we'll have to hope the New Year's gnomes or genies or whatever they are understand and give us an extension.

Last night DGD decided after her BF came to pick her up that she'd sit in the car and fuss with him for a couple of hours before refusing to go out for NYE and then came back in the house. She probably dumped him...why do I say that? Because she has a pattern of making big plans with him for "occasions" and then dumping him, only to take him back a day or so later. Last time was on his birthday in early November.

One of these days, she's gonna pull that stunt, and when she relents and says "come back," he'll have had enough and tell her no because he'll know he can't trust her not to do it again.

The only surprise to me is that she made it through Thanksgiving and Christmas without picking a fight. If he takes her back this time, her next opportunity will be Valentine's Day.

I know. I'm a beeyotch. But she plays him like a grand piano. And I read her like a book. She has all the emotional maturity of a 14-year-old. He's a really nice guy.

Sigh.

Happy New Year everyone. Nice to have this new thread for the new year, but I realized I better post on it in order to have the notifications when other people post.

New Year's Eve didn't live up to my expectations, last year's was a lot of fun, but this year the fun person I was with before couldn't make it, and the music was way too loud and brassy (I don't know anything about music, so that might be wrong word, it was like intermittent screams within a loud roar of sound), so I left after 20 minutes and came home and danced around my living room by myself to an old holiday musical movie on the TV.

But, I woke up this morning so all is wonderful. Also I found a folding card table in the trash area yesterday so I'm really happy about that (using it for plants on my enclosed balcony).

I caved and made the bed because when I walk from sitting room to kitchen, I can see in the bedroom. I didn't like what I saw. It's neat and tidy now.

DSIL is awake and alert. DD says "do dinner." Okay. The collards and black-eyed peas will be from cans. Ham from Christmas is thawing. I'm not doing more than that.

Good luck!!!! If your closets look like mine, you'll need it!
the thing is most of my clothes that remain are still unworn with their tags on, so I'm going to sell those... and the rest are like new because I take such good care of my things..but I just have too much, and half of what I have no longer fit me.. so what I'm going to do to help me get rid of things that aren't new but don't fit , instead of letting my heart tell me to put them back on the rails, I'm going to pretend they don't belong to me, and act like I'm a friend cleaning out another friend's closet, and look at it all with an uninterested eye

Got up early and grumpy. Stupid people and their fireworks have no clue what it does to a rescue dog. One of my fur babies spent a restless night in my arms, shaking and whimpering everytime there was a loud boom. She's better now, although I imagine there are still some dumbo's out there with more fireworks. Going to try playing soft music in the room tonight and see if that helps.
Other than that, the new year started off right for me. I got the new motor in our 57, hooked up the wires and linkages and hit the key and it lit right up. (y) Still have to fabricate some mounts for the new radiator and then she should be good to go.

Happy New Year to all of you. This is the day God has made for us.

---The temperature is outside 77 degrees, and all windows are open
---I just finished my workout, and I am feeling great
---The Rose Parade was beautiful. Apparently this float is, "Puff, the Magic Dragon."
---The flowers in my wife's garden are pretty
---and in a year, I will be 90 years old

Just a wonderful day, and I wish all of you have the same experience.

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee
Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Puff
And brought him strings, and sealing wax, and other fancy stuff

See more songs by Peter, Paul & Mary

I haven't even gotten started on clothes, yet!!! I like your idea of "going through a friend's closet! I always find it easier to clean out someone else's clutter, but not my own!

I spent a good part of my day gathering up all of my paper products (stationary, note cards, scratch paper, etc) and went through them with the intent of getting rid of the excess.

It turns out that I was "stashing" paper in at least 7 different places!!! Boxes in the closet, desk drawer, bookcase, etc. As I was going through it all, this is what my living room looked like.......

....and I'm not even sure if I found it all....there might be more!!!! I got rid of some of it, but not nearly enough!
I bet I have 50 brand-new pens! And probably another 20-30 various colored Sharpies and Highlighters! 🙄

It's a sickness! My Mom has it, and so did my Dad. My grandparents, too! Sometimes I feel like I'm drowning in all of the 💩 that I've accumulated!!

Yesterday's overcast, wet weather, has given way to bright sunshine, cold but at least it's dry. We pulled out of attending the classic car meeting because of the weather, yesterday, but today I can fulfil a promise to take the lady to Hanson Fabrics, where she will lose herself for an hour or so.
Afterwards we will stop off at a large shopping centre where I have seen fragrances being discounted. Actually I saw it online so I am going to check it out. The lady's birthday is about nine, maybe ten weeks away, her favourite perfume will get me Brownie Points.
