5000 or more homes were badly damaged in the Clayton Area of west St. Louis.Ugh!
We had a big storm last night with tornado warnings. I spent about an hour in my bathroom taking cover. Luckily, a tornado didn’t hit here but the storm knocked down a tree, which pulled down many power lines and my entire community is without internet.
What a boring day I’ve had without internet!
The crews to fix the lines won’t be out to fix it until Monday so I probably won’t have internet until Tuesday![]()
the latest piece on my blog then: Dorich House, Londonyes you can link the website...
Sounds like you've had a medical week....I've got that this week coming, starting with an Ultrasound scan at the hospital on Monday
This seems to happen with so many things, like insurance companies doubling the premium without circumstances having changed - you phone them up and they reduce it to the old rate 'as a favour' i.e. the favour of not robbing you. Likewise Micro$oft 365 increasing the price to pay for AI that nobody asked for. You can reduce to the previous amount, but you have to do it specifically, otherwise they'll charge the higher rate.Went to the funeral home this morning with the Spousal Equivalent's sister-in-law to finalize the funeral arrangements on Monday.
We went over the statement and it was nickel-and-dime-you-to-death day. It came to a lot more than she had planned.
The S.E. went into another room with the director to have "a little talk" and voila! suddenly almost $3000 disappeared from the statement. Had this "little talk" not occurred, they would have blithely charged her the full amount. They count on this.
I know it's a business, but I sure wouldn't want to be in a business that took advantage of people at their most vulnerable moments. You expect this sort of tactics from car salesmen, but.....
you can't buy internet 'sticks'then which are cheap and plug in ya pc and give you ya own source of connectivity?Ugh!

that's nothing... the children who I met when they were just weeks old and watched grow..next door... now have children who have children of their own... how did THAT happen...Hi, kids. Happy Sunday.
Our next door neighbors are having a graduation party for their younger son today...how can that be? I "met" him when he was just weeks old, and we all know that I'm not old enough for him to be finishing high school already
There's a little garden maintenance that needs to be done this morning before it gets too hot, party this afternoon. And today might be the day the a/c gets turned on.
What's everybody else up to?
I don't know about "sticks" but I sometimes use USB Tethering which lets my PC use my phone plan's data.you can't buy internet 'sticks'then which are cheap and plug in ya pc and give you ya own source of connectivity?
Della, I have a fear of dying while angry and cursing, using my favorite F word. I don't want that, but it is a great fear. I want to go with love.Oh I hope it's not a tear, Holly. why can't we do anything without hurting ourselves these days?!
Glad you're sounding better, Pepper. I was worried about you last week. While you were suffering from extreme anxiety I was having anger issues. I'm sure my means of death will be an anger/stroke. It's a physical thing I inherited from my father. The older we get the more vulnerable our brains seem to be to the stressors around us.
When I was having panic attacks they weren't about suffocation or anything like that. No pains, etc. and it was frustrating having "medicine" always jump to conclusions about heart issues. I didn't have any fear or anger issues, these just seemed to be triggered out of the blue.Della, I have a fear of dying while angry and cursing, using my favorite F word.
