We just went through a years long building renovation (we have 8) and have all new siding. They were starting to damage the new siding. I fought them for years with baffles, and Slinkys, and hot pepper. I just wanted to stop them from chasing the birds away, so I started the peanuts last year. I am glad the Board issued the rule. I had a talk with the squirrels and told them I was sorry, but it wasn’t my fault. I then told them where the Board president lives. 😜
I have 40 panels of fencing... the three that had the trellises on.. were damged... so the new ones have no trellis now.. but I've got some anti squirrel thing.. to put on top of the fences.. rubber type..

First thing this morning I picked up the dog's food dish and it was full of ants. It sent me onto a cleaning spree doing the kitchen and floors even though it's not Kitchen's day till Thursday. I hope ants don't have a craving for Mr. Clean, I just read that they hate vinegar, so I might do another run through.

My life would be boring if it wasn't for excitement like this!
Seriously..I hate ants..HATE them..... they dislike chalk as well apparently. they won't cross a chalk line.... However I don't mess about with chalk et al... it's the big guns for those when they appear...

Happy Tuesday, May 20th! Woke up in the early 4:00 hour. Tried going back to sleep but gave up the ghost by 4:45. Might be looking at a nap this afternoon...

I need to mop the floors and do a little straightening up. Hey - I might even dust! (Probably not. Will report back.)

Some business chores are in front of me, as well. Some ordering, some invoicing, some spreadsheet work, a phone call to straighten out an issue with a vendor and other bits and pieces. I intend to get all that crossed off my list between today and tomorrow.

A couple of toasty days ahead of us in the low 90s, but we'll drop to the low 80s by Friday. It's not even 7 AM and I've already closed the house up. Sigh...

I'll spend a few more minutes with all of you, then I'll move toward crossing things off those lists.

@hollydolly, we used to have squirrels in our attics at two apartments we lived in. They were so loud, sounding like a herd of animals. We complained and one apartment manager said they could not do anything about them, so we moved. At the next apartment, the same thing happened but they said they would get them out by going in and shooing them out. They put up some kind of wire that the squirrels could not enter.

When we first moved into our home, there were many squirrels and they ate the bird seed. I put up squirrel proof bird feeders. Some of the squirrels started screeching at me. They are a protected species here and I was happy that they have disappeared now. I don't know what happened except more stray cats are around.

We had a delivery from Publix this morning and received three items we did not order. They say to keep them. Most of the time, it is items we do not want but we offer them to some of our friends. Most are expensive items.

It is hot again today and the lawn is very dry. I do not like to water as the rain will make it green again. Rain expected in a few days.

Have a happy day, everyone.

I find that using any joints that ache..like my fingers, and my knees which have OA.. does ease the pain..I hope your pain eases soon

everything 's done... all laundry put away.... sun is still shining.. at 4.50pm I hung a couple of things out on the washing line to just refresh....

There's a holiday week coming up next week, .. the schoolkids will be off for 10 days from Friday until Monday week... this weekend will be the busiest on the roads, until the August bank holiday... so if I want to go anywhere , I really need to go before the weekend to keep away from the huge traffic jams..

I get so many squirrels, occasionally I trap them in a cage using a trail of Sunseeds as bait. They go ape---- over them. Then haul it 20 miles away and release in our timbers.
Things go a couple of years and the lil ones start it over again. ... :coffee: ... Once I couldn't find the cage, the squirrel had rolled it down the
hill over 100' and ended in a pile of leaves. Saw him while blowing the leaves away. ... :ROFLMAO: ... It started doing like a Saturday night Bash in
that cage. I just let him loose. He never came back that I saw. The wife had a pet one, named him Sonny.

He could perfect pitch Hickory Nuts at cha. ... (y) ... He had a free run of the place. Talk about squirrel talk at cha! I was never late sleeper.
Occasionally Sonny would go Bat---- crazy.

We had severe rain and tornado watches all night, that were supposed to continue all day today. However, after sleeping in this morning, I woke up to a bright sunny day! I'm not sure if those forcasters have a clue as to what is actually going to happen! LOL

I'm having a late start to my day.....I had better get going! TTYL!
It was quite the evening in the St. Louis Metro area last night too. Had to leave the Cardinal game 5 - 1. 11 - 4 finale.

the thing is the woods are right behind my house, so they're all in there , and easily come over to the gardens ... if I trapped them and took them miles away Id still have to deal with hundreds more from the woodland behind the house . It's never been a problem in all the years I've lived here.. but we have tenants living next door now , and they're feeding them...

Trying to talk myself into planting a few flower seeds.
I think it's supposed to rain the rest of this week?

Been going to tell you about Mac crying while i was in the kitchen.
Walked over to what his problem was... there was a male humming bird, lying on the porch.

Poor little bird was dead!

Not sure if it hit the sliding glass door or cat was quick & caught it.
What a way to study one up close.

Buried it in the flower bed.

There is some talk about nuisance critters. Kindly permit me to throw in my tuppence. All pictures were taken this morning.

I suppose no one wants to see the dead mice I trapped where I keep my dog food. OK, I won't show any dead animals.

Left: This year we have an explosion of our squirrel population. Especially, they are feasting on the seeds birds drop from the feeder.
The reason could be the absence of coyotes. At least I haven't seen any for ages. That's quite unusual. So, I put up some traps.
Right: Because we lost a dozen cats to coyotes, we don't keep cats anymore. But I am trying to attract either stray cats or roaming
cats from our neighbors by providing food for them. They are great in keeping our gopher population down.

Birds, gophers, and squirrels somehow find their way into our chicken coop and are feasting on the chicken food. My wife has given
up trying to keep the unwanted critters out of the cage. They are too clever. They are outwitting my wife. I had bought the chicken
coop at Tractor Supplies for under $300, and my daughter extended the cage to give the chickens more space. Because of our resident
hawks, we can't let them out of the cage.

My wife has her pets, and I have mine. Yes, there is some pushing and shuffling, but they accommodate each other when going for a joy ride.

To change the topic: "They noted that for the past two respiratory virus seasons, less than 25% of Americans have received a Covid-19 shot, including less than 10% of kids and less than 50% of adults over the age of 75." [I received 9 COVID shots so far and never had any symptom.]

"FDA may limit future Covid-19 shots to older people and those at risk of serious infection"

Well I've just spent an hour changing my mobile number, which means swapping the SIM card, then jumping through a whole load of hoops online on my providers website... However despite having the new Sim in, it kept my old number for the whatsApp.. which was nuts.. so I texted my daughter, she confirmed that the texts were coming in from my old number the one I'd just changed from, and I was getting her replies back on the whatsapp on my Computer..(not on my phone)... connected to my old number..:oops:

So..I had to do a google search to find out how to get my new number connected to whatsapp.. so that was more jumping through hoops but not with the provider this time... Crazy!!...when my provider sent me the new Sim they could have explained how to reconnect to whatsap with a new number.. but NO... anyway hopefully it's done now.. DD says it is showing the new number her end... so now I have to let all my contacts know .

Everything is an aggravation. Or is that just me?

well it is, and it's unneccesary . I'm not in any way a technical person when it comes to computers and phones, my husand was the one who saw t all that beccause that's his mind set.. it was easy for him...my daughter een mre so because at 49 she's grown up with computers and smart phones... but me.. I don't have that mindset so it's all hard for me now that he's gone.

I have learned a lot since he's been gone.. and DD has given me tips on what to do but she doesn't live anywhere near here so she can't just pop in and help..so I've really had to learn how to do these things myself.. but sometimes companies seem to leave out essential information.. and it's not in any way helful when you're already struggling

Several Amazon orders arrived at noon today, so much unpacking. Including my Asus ProArt 32" 4k monitor I am about to read the mounting instructions for. Will need to wait till next Monday to actually use it when my HP Omen 35L desktop arrives. As I type, am sitting atop my bedroom mattress leaning my back against my just received wedge pillow with my small Windows 11 laptop now atop the pillow lap desk. Indeed... Perfect snug size and keyboard level for small me. Wedge pillow is the correct sitting angle too.

What have you bought recently?.....

Decided not to drive to the coast tomorrow for some photography and instead be more conservative allowing my surgery to with more certainty heal so I'll be more likely ready for a music/food/drink festival next Saturday.
