@Georgiagranny, our yard seems like a wild refuge at times, too. We have wild bunnies, armadillos, sometimes deer and of course cats and squirrels. Some herons and other sea birds make their way to my yard.

I used to have birds of different kind but the cats have scared them away and I took down the feeders. I really like cats but their are so many strays and the animal shelters are too full to take them.

morning folkss......it is 77F outside, bright and sunny, may get
a bit of rain later today...humid is 78%....anotther hotty....slept
fairly6 well, up at 530am today...got to continue my attempt to
locate my SocSec card and Medicare card...cannot understand
how I lost track of them both...ah well....still got issue with
left calf, stiff and sore today...but this too shall pass...take care of yourselves and each other!!! :love:
 
Good morning all, on my early walk at 7,temp was 68 with light rain as I walked across the street to buy local paper for myself and friend Connie
A couple days ago, I asked close friend, Marcia if she& hubby Dave could come for dinner in celebration of his retirement{ as of tomorrow}. Dave has been a social worker for 30 yrs at one of the local middle schools,tonight they will be coming at 5:30. I've also invited one of my new friends here, Pat to join us as well
This will be the highlight of my day

Just a heads up, you can order a replacement SS card online at Socialsecurity.gov.
Ánd likewise a replacement Medicare card at Medicare.gov.

YAH BUT!!! sINCE THE DONALD TOOK OVER HE HAS CHANGED THE PROCESS OF OBTAIING BOTH CARDS, WILL BE DIFFICULT ON AGED FOLKS OF COURSE....:confused:

I agree with @hollydolly's comments. People's feelings are often hurt by strangers, acquaintances or friends. Strangers' insults can sting for days - especially when we fear there's some truth to them.

The above remark is a response meant to hurt someone's feelings back. It's a response to their words or actions, by claiming your indifference to them. Very I'm rubber, you're glue type of thing.

Understand, I wish it were true that only people who matter to us had the power to offend, but that's not the way human emotions work.
 
It's hot today.. but Mother nature has blessed us with high winds.. so with the window open, I don't need a fan on... . I like the fan but it's quite noisy so it gets on my nerves after a while... and I keep turning it off...

Anyway.. they've forecast another heatwave starting from tomorrow through next week with temps reching 95 deg.. I am absolutely not looking forward to that... I really will have to try and get down to the coast for a day or 2.. the only thing that really stops me is that hotel prices are very expensive for one night..and that's no entry until 4pm, and out again the following morning at 10am... I think £150-£200 is just ridiculous ... for a basic hotel room...what do you think ?...Not talking about anything plush, just basic..

I've done a whole load of admin and bill paying this morning ... and later I got a letter from the hospital cancelling an appointment I had for 2 days time, changing it to December....now that would be bad enough , however the appt for 2 days time was one that had been changed for an appt LAST December.... isn't appalling ?

I saw a hot weather tip. A woman wet (very damp) and squeezed a wash cloth. She molded it to her neck then stuck it in the freezer. At night she takes it out, wraps it around her neck and it helps her sleep. She said she also does towels and they can come right down the front of you.
She said one on her abdomen was really cooling.
She keeps several in the freezer for hot nights.

I can see your point. Some peoples feelings can be hurt by strangers, acquaintances, or friends.
I group acquaintances with strangers. If you're going to hurt my feelings on purpose, then I dont consider you in the friend category.
I have never quite figured out why some people feel like they need to point out what they consider to be other people short comings.
But I dont see any reason to let it bother me even if there is some truth in what they have to say. I like to keep an open mind though.
Sometimes they can be right and I need to step back and consider is this something I need to correct.
And sometimes I decide they just need to get over it. :D

I dont know if what I feel is indifference. Its more like I know who I am and Im okay with that.
If other people arent okay with who I am thats okay too.

I don't wander down to the creek out back anymore. The banks are steep even though the depth of water is only about 15 inches. Where the creek bends there is a sandy area on the inside of the curve. It was interesting to see the variety of animal prints in the sand where they came to drink.

Just for giggles after reading your post i ordered a replacement card from medicare.gov.
It said i should receive the new medicare card within 7-14 days.

Also ordered a replacement SS card from ssa.gov.
It asked numerous questions, drivers license info etc etc etc. Once i hit the submit button it said they’d send me an email after reviewing my application.
Within about 5 minutes i received a text saying check My Social Security for a new message. This is what that message said:

“This is a receipt of your application for a Social Security Number (SSN) card submitted on June 26, 2025. Please allow 5-7 business days for your application to be reviewed. You will receive a notification (text, email, both) with the status of your application once this process is complete. If your request is approved, you should have your card in about 10-14 business days.
If you do not receive your Social Security card within 10-14 business days after you receive the notification, please contact us. Please have this receipt available.”

News at 11…😉

I have used so little heating over the last 3 months.. that when I submitted my gas meter reading ( because my smart meter is out of commision currently ).. they said ''are you sure, you seem to have used much less than we anticpated, please double check your numbers''...and it is correct..

MY direct debit is paid to them at the end of the month regardless of usage.. but it'll be interesting to find out exacly how much less I have used compared to their estimation
