Going to be a hot one today. Planning a morning swim. In the afternoon I'm suggesting we go to a Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (my favorite place in Richmond) but that is TBD.

Yesterday we took a six mile walk, saw a film called The Phoenician Scheme with daughter, bought some swordfish and had a friend over. Cooked it on the grill and it was very good.

Morning all, on my early walk at 6:50 temp was 65 as I strolled around the building complex before breakfast
My friend, Marcia will be picking me& my neighbor/church member, Bill at 10am to go to church service at 10:30
Our summer worship service is now in our chapel which seats 100 until Sept. Its has A/C some times it feels like an igloo in there. Marcia informed me she won;t be able to give us a ride back,I plan to walk home its a sunny day
The rest of my day talk to my brother as we do every Sun, read local paper, probably go for afternoon walk

Good morning, only in the 80's today. I am amazed it is so cool for here.

Yesterday, I put an online order to Pizza Hut and went to pick it up. It was supposed to be ready at 5:00
so, I went in and the lady says it is not ready yet and the place is packed with people. A lady offered me a seat and she stood and I waited for 17 minutes until they said they could not find my order. I explained about putting it online but they said I must have sent it to another store.

My husband so hungry for pizza, we stopped at the store and I bought a frozen one for dinner. I got home and found I did send my order to another Pizza Hut and called them and explained my mistake and they said that was okay and would credit my order back to me.

Sorry this so long but you know it helps me feel better writing this on the forum.

Enjoy your Sunday and happy thoughts to all of you. :)

If I read this last night I'd be dreaming of caramel apple ice cream. 🍦
And it was GOOD too Hearlady! It must be a new ice cream place closer to home than the other ice cream parlors with specialty ice cream flavors, so I have a feeling we'll be getting it fairly often.
Chihuahua! Lately sleep has been nothing more than two-hour naps in between half-hour periods of wakefulness. Tonight I'm gonna throw caution to the winds and take benadryl. That stuff isn't recommended for old folks because of the diphenhydramine, which has been shown to contribute to dementia. I'm already daffy enough without help, but I really need a full night's sleep.

We missed out on the Daily Deluge yesterday. Apparently, it all went south of us to the airport where there were already hundreds of delays and cancellations because of Friday night's deluge and hail storm.

@hawkdon I hope today is a better day for you🤗.
Join the club GG! My sleep is mostly in the form of naps too. I won't take anything for it though. I'm usually up in the middle of the night and nap in the daytime and often after dinner, which isn't at any particular time. Be careful taking those meds....we don't want you to become demented.

Morning folks...hope all are still here....I'm mostly here, but
mind is wandering all over the place....Will continue searching
for the soc sec card I've lost track of....while looking, I have
accumulated 2 trash bags for shredding at UPS store...hands are
hurting today, so not much typing for me.....catch u later...;):coffee:
I see I need to make Dua (a special prayer) for you Hawkdon. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make your health issues all better! 🪄

You post is not long at all Rae. It's too bad you went through all of that. It's easy to make that mistake when using the app or online. I've caught that before it was too late. If you use the app, set your store so that next time it will go to the right place. Websites sometimes show somewhere up top where the order is going to.

I make my own pizza in about 7 minutes total time. Naan bread sprayed with a little I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Francesco Rinaldi sauce, shredded cheese which I keep on hand, dried basil and sometimes I add small pieces of broccoli (what's left at the bottom of the bag). If I go downtown, I stop at my favorite pizza place for lunch.

@OneEyedDiva, that pizza looks so good. You must be a good cook. I do not cook that much since I am older and husband is partially disabled. However, I did not notice the pizza mistake. I usually only get on the one we order from but now I will take time to check. I do not do apps as I don't understand them. The cell phone we use is the Jitterbug one as it is easier for us.

Thank you so much for your reply. It is nice you posted to me. :)

If anyone remembers I submitted a gas meter reading to my energy company and they were surprised it was so low and asked me to double check. I was right.. and I have been very careful using heating in the last 3 months.... . They have me an estimated bill for the Gas & Electricity , so my usual monthly standing order payment to them went out today from my bank and they have debited almost 59 % of my payment back to me.... excellent result... . so my not having heating on , and reducing my electricity using USB power where possible, with fans and phone charging, and motion sensor lights .. turning the TV off when I'm not in the room.... using a cordless Vac... has all paid off very handsomely

I won't reduce the standing order amount because it will cover me well for winter when I'll need to use the heating more...

The fire season has started: 5 fires are burning currently in our area (Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.)

The Mandalay Fire in Riverside as seen from near our house.

50 years ago, I planted about 200 trees because it was strongly encouraged to save the environment.
Right now, I have 25 more trees cut; 8 trees pruned, and 7 tall Palm Tree stumps finally removed.
Left before pruning; right afterwards. We had twice fires blown from the outside onto our property.

Apocalyptic scenes captured in images and videos showed firefighters battling the flames as the wildfires raged on, while thick plumes of black smoke filled the sky.

Other footage showed helicopters spraying water over smoke-filled fields.

The fire department has sent an arson investigation team to Chios to examine the cause of the blaze.

'We are faced with simultaneous fires in multiple, geographically unconnected parts of the island - a pattern that cannot be considered coincidental,' Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Giannis Kefalogiannis said Monday from Chios.

Authorities, he said, were 'very seriously examining the possibility of an organized criminal act, in other words arson.'

The minister said police forces on the island had been reinforced, while military patrols had been doubled.

'Whoever thinks that they can play with the lives of citizens and cause chaos with premeditated actions will be led to court,' Kefalogiannis said.

You're welcome, of course Rae. Thank you (re pizza). I am a good cook, but I hate doing it so I don't cook much either. I buy heat and eat meals from Costco or salad from Amazon Fresh. I also often make an easy broccoli salad with cooled, microwave steamed broccoli, chopped egg, pickled beets, sometimes chic peas, croutons and homemade Russian dressing (mayo and ketchup with a little dill weed). So when I do cook, since I'm a lazy cook...it has to be easy and fairly quick. :)

I have learned a lot of technical stuff from my son, but I understand that many have not learned to use apps or even "smart phones". That's okay. Each person must do what's comfortable for themselves. I have an Android phone and tablet. I prefer Samsung devices over Apple (iPhone., iPad).

Yesterday I did some accounting and something I haven't done in months....I ironed a few pieces. I really didn't feel like doing it but I had no choice. Last night, my Honorary Son #3 and I went to a seafood restaurant I'd never been to. I've been trying to treat him for over a month to celebrate the completion of his second year as a doctorate student and the blossoming success of his radio show. We enjoyed the food, the virgin pina coladas and even interacting with out waiter who was so helpful, attentive and cute. We ordered the flounder dinner with crab fries. HS#3's first bite of the fries elicited an O.M.G!! response. 😛

I love our waiter's ideology...especially for such a young man. When we asked how he was, he said blessed because he woke up that morning! Not many young-uns appreciate that these days. And he gave honor to God for his blessings. He took a selfie with us at my request. He also took HS#3's business card and used his phone to take pictures of my albums' YouTube pages, saying learning of our endeavors was a pleasant surprise. When I told him the kind of music on the albums, he seemed very interested in checking them out.

HS#3 said it was a great evening, which meant a lot to me because he puts so much pressure on himself all the time, between his work with cancer patients, working on his thesis and all it takes to get ready for the broadcast.

Good morning, Invisipeeps. I'm vertical. The benadryl helped last night. I still woke up every two hours, but went right back to in sleep without the annoying half hour break in between.

It's supposed to be another sunny and hot day with the Daily Deluge starting early this evening. Yawn.

There are a few things in the garden that need tending, but other than that, there is no plan for the day.

Another cooler day but looks like all of Florida has a stalled maybe tropical storm or worse this next weekend according to the National Hurricane Center. I do hate hurricane season. Hopefully it won't be as bad as it looks.

The fires look bad in Europe. I hope all the citizens keep safe.

Have a great Monday and stay as well as you can, everyone. :)

Good morning GG. I like your name for your online friends. :D

Good Monday morning and happy last day of June! Good grief, 2025 is half over but feels like it barely started.

Yesterday we had 3 year old grandson for the day. Picked him up from DS & DDIL's, then headed to the produce store followed by Aldi. He and his baby brother are happy to go to the store with us as long as we provide unsweetened Cheerios or oyster crackers for them to nosh on, so we keep little containers of both in the car. When raising my own brood, I learned the value of snacks as magical entertainment for toddlers.

Later on, he was fascinated when we gave Ozzy-dog a bath in the kitchen sink. It's a big farmhouse sink, so plenty of room. We put GS on a stool - he was delighted to pour water over Ozzy's haunches during the wetting and rinsing phases. Little kids and water play. ❤️

We'll have baby GS for a little bit today while DS (who's off work for a week) runs an errand that would be difficult to manage while wrangling a 16 month old.

I love having this much time with baby and toddler grandchildren - and having them so happy to spend time with us. Before I know it, they'll be like our older GKs (13 & 10), with schedules crowded with school, homework, camp, scouting, friends and other activities. Don't get me wrong — the big ones are happy to see us, but much of their time is spoken for.
