@hollydolly … is the middle pic plane trees ? I read about “a shaded avenue between rows of plane trees” and I don’t know what to visualize

Got up this morning and deadheaded my hydrangea bushes. Still hate gardening. Then I played nine holes of golf, walking in intense heat. Then lunch with the golf buddies. Now I'm showered and waiting to run a few errands with my wife.

I feel like Madeline Kahn in Blazing Saddles...I'm tired.

Deadheading hydrangeas is certainly a tiring procedure. Surprised you had enough energy to go golfing. :ROFLMAO:

Well folkies, & peeps... it's been a strange day weatherwise. When I left home there wasn't a cloud in the sky, it was blue as can be.... when I got to my destination 30 miles or so north the sky was heavy with coulds.. but it couldn't make it's mind up..it was blue skies with heeavy cloud one minute then white clouds the next. However it was horribly humid, despite being 15 deg cooler than earlier this week

Anyway I visted 2 places all n my own... first I went to the Olde worle village shopping.. it's misnomer really it's only a little tiny place but it's cute in it's old fashioned way..... and then I went to wrest park.. to save me tellinng you about it's history... here's the link.

Wrest Park

..and here's some photos..... from wrest park

Absolutely beautiful !!!! 😻 😻 😻

Well it's 10.30pm and I just had some dinner. I had 1/2 a baked potato with egg mayo, and some thinly sliced Brie....

Should never eat this late because I get nightmares if I got to bed within an hour or 2 of eating...

I've been trying to find out more about the crash.. one report says a van has been totally burnt out following the crash but I can't read it because its behing a paywall that they want me to subcribe to paying a years' cost to view..

I am so tired of news website charging for every little thing....

A couple more pics of Inside Wrest house... It took me by surprise .. because I've never been to a stately home that you have to pay to view £14.50 ( altho' I didn't have to pay, but other people do)... that the house is empty.... except for the library....

There;s no access to any rooms except the library and the main entrance hallway, and then the stairs.. but all the rooms at the top of the stairs are blocked off to the public..with ''staff only signs"....so in truth I would have been extremely miffed if I'd paid to view an empty house....

The Library which is the first room through the main door..

then the hallway & stairs...

I must be getting old. When I look at this... all I can think of is I'd hate to have to be the one to dust it. :)

I sort of fell asleep while petting Maggiecat and forgot about mowing the lawn. Tomorrow's another day.

@hollydolly There nowhere to sit in that library unless you sit on the library tables. Somehow I don't think that would be acceptable. I didn't see any rolling bookcase ladders, either, so you'd have to be really tall to get the books down.

there wasn't any rolling ladders.. because I suppose they don't want anyone climbing up them... lol... but seriously the library was actually twice as big as the picture I showed beause it was the same size again, behind me IYSWIM... but that was it.. and a little volunteer woman there sitting in the corner to keep an eye on folks, and answer any questions.

No they're not click bait ..Papa tiger.. they are news sites, the actual newspaper website, like the Daily Mail.. or our local newspaper, etc , they are all behind a pay wall.. we can't read anything these days, hardly without having to pay for it...

Looks like a fortune in art pictures and Frames hanging on the walls Holly. Very well done.

Morning all...Happy Fourth.....I went to bed early last eve 9;pm
and up at 5am, so plenty of hours in bed....strange thing is I am
shaky as hell this morning....ah well...good thing I don't have to
set off the fireworks, they staarted locally about 7pm last eve,
don't know how long it went on, today will be a doozy tho....
no plans at all for the day, so it ought to go well !!!!:coffee::giggle:

Good morning, @hawkdon. @hollydolly, I wonder why we hadn't heard from you. By the time I get up, you've usually posted that you're on your way somewhere or in your garden doing garden stuff.

It's supposed to be the usual summer heat here, and I'll be doing the usual summer stuff...deadheading flowers, watering flowers, fiddling around, wishing for something to do.

There are no big Independence Day plans, it's just another day for us. Since the kids of the old timers (i.e., most of the original owners) in the subdivision have grown up and moved on, there's not even anything special planned by the HOA. Times have changed but not for the better:(

It's a sunny day today.. 🌞 🌞 I can't go out because all the driving yesterday has caused my sore arm to be horribly painful, I've had to take painkillers...

I'm pleased I got so much done yesterday..I even got a donation of various things dropped off at the Charity shop....

My utility company sometimes gives away ''free'' electricity, and they tell you on the day .. and I just had an email saying it's this afternoon.. which means I can get all the heavy usage things done...like the laundry and the drying... charge up all my items like the Shark .. some batch cooking in the AF and everything else that I need... with no cost .

Hope all our American friends have a lovely day today...

gI have been up all night. Went to the donut shop at 5AM. Had to have some lemon filled for the holiday. Yes. I know I am not supposed to have them. I have already given up smoking and alcohol. I only had food left, As a type 2 diabetic I know I need to watch what I eat but eating was the only thing I had left.

Doc will have to decide what is the least damaging thing because I can't do it all.

Good morning, up and at it today. Going to go get donuts, if shop is open. Husband loves donuts and I can eat one but have to watch my diet because of my chronic kidney disease. The doctor says a little of somethings are okay.

@hollydolly You do post beautiful photos of the places you visit. I would be amazed at the sites in real life.

@Blessed You sound like me with my diet. One has to eat so it is hard to resist the good tasty foods.

Happy 4th of July to all of you. :)

I've got some pics from the Olde Worle shopping village that I visted yesterday.... In reality what it is.. is like a big barn in a park.... which house a few artisan works.. some little tiny shops amd a lot of litte stalls.. where artisans sell their work

It has small restaurant.. attached but yesterday the car park was full yet I never passed more than a dozen people, so perhaps they were using the car park for the country trails to walk dogs etc...

The olde worlde shopping village and Wrest park are less than 10 minutes drive apart, so I was able to see both yesterday. I'll upload pictures shortly...

Morning all, as I went on my usual morning walk at 6:50 temp was 59,sun shining, birds chirping as I walked around the building twice before breakfast
Today from 11-2 in the cafe there will be a July 4th picnic menu with a variety of food to choose from e.g 3 types of salad, hamburger/ hotdogs, grilled chicken thighs, corn on the cob, baked beans, roasted lemon asparagus, red/white& blue checkered cake, strawberry shortcake, sugar free chocolate mousse
Two members of the wait staff will take your dinner order from selected items from the menu, that's what I do
The rest of my day take couple of walks, read my book no papers are delivered today
