Yikes on the car accident. I was in a bad one when I was 17 or so. Ended up spun around and hanging halfway out the window. The guy driving did not have seatbelts in the vehicle at the time. For years I was nervous in cars with someone else driving. I was also quite beat up after the accident.

Oh I feel sick now when I hear about anyone involved in a crash...I hope you didn't suffer many injuries... I've had to have plastic surgery on my arm and hand...

I think it's appalling that we don't have the Saints days as public holidays....

BTW when I was a kid, we had the whole week off in Scotland at new Year... we didn't have any time other than Christmas day and boxing day off unlike the 2 weeks people get in many areas now.. but we did get the week off at new Year....

Now all the stitches in my hand and arm have dissolved, they took the dressings off yesterday and now want me to let the air to the wounds.... The hand is still swollen to about 3 time the size of the left hand, and very sore and stiff, like the tendons are being stretched backwards towards my arm .. and it feels very weird having nothing to protect it now... but it means I can type with both hands again. ..albeit a little painfully..

This coming week I have an ultrasound scan for the hand to see if the nerves have been damaged.

No plans for today, it was enough being out yesterday... I can't believe I'm saying that.. as someone who is always out and about. the crash has really got me jittery about driving.. however it does mean I can do a little something in the garden now I have the use of both hands...

DD has just text that she's coming over this afternoon... apparently she has something for my new car :love:

Oh good. Your hand should really start to get better now. The jitteriness......a bit longer I'm afraid.
 
I was out of bed at 5:00 AM like I am every Saturday between early May and the end of October. The farmers market where I sell hearty breads and tasty (but not very health inducing) cookies has become a fairly big part of how I define myself. What started as a paying hobby has become a full time job and a nice little supplemental income. I bake every day and freeze the bread loaves.......Thursday and Friday are cookie days. It's a pretty good little side hustle and over the last several years a following of regular customers has accumulated. And the market is a pleasant social event for me too.
But by October I'm ready to give it up.......until the following Spring when I'm eager for May to arrive so I can resume it all over again.

Had my 3rd (4th counting the steroid injection) and hopefully last knee injection Wed. and as soon as I feel that the neighbors have had enough sleep I'm going to fire up the weedeater and mower and get mama's yard mowed for her.....I have been having it done till the injections were over.

The ortho doc wasn't all that keen on me mowing or doing my daily walk while I was going through the injections but they're over and my knee feels quite a bit better so I'm going to start easing back into my normal routine.....can't honestly say that I missed mowing all that much but I have missed my walk.
 
Good morning to everyone. A rainy day this morning with more rain on the way.

Sorry to read of the health problems on here. I am feeling okay and still have to have a blood test for potassium level like the doctor wanted me to have but things have been so hectic with other things, so I will get it in a couple of weeks. He seemed to suggest it was the way the test was taken for the elevated result and I am to suggest how he says to take it. We will see.

It's a lovely sunny day here, and pleasantly cool, with temperatures supposed to be in the mid-70s.

I am getting ready to head to my second AA meeting. I have stacks of manuscripts on my desk that are making me nervous: 4 journal articles and 2 book chapters to get done by Monday. 😟 It's going to be tight.

With this weather, though, I do hope to get a walk by the river in at some point.
 
Good morning all folks!! Glad to see so many here, esp at
the hour I woke, 5am, now almost 8am...nice out at 63 deg F
and going into low 80's, big relief from the terrible heat we've
had lately....had my 3 cupp's and ready to start the chore's I
guess....did not do much yesteerday due to pain, cleaning lady
came and did her bit...now I got sheets and towels to clean...
Also need a few items from grocery store....catch you later.. :D :coffee: :love:

When my daughter departed for France, and I was thinking about time zones, that's the first time I realized that you and others here were in another time zone. Now mind you, it was a lot jollier not cluttering my brain with notions like these.

My son frequently yammers at me about something going on in southern Europe, northern Europe, eastern Europe -- you get the picture. I tell him, son just call it Europe and get to the point, because I don't understand how your compass is working. He says Mom, Mom, you are giving Americans a bad name. I say (defensively), well I bought a huge wall map of the world a few weeks ago, and very soon now, I will hang it.

Today it dawned on me that I think of Europe as being east of the US. So when my son is yammering at me, I am thinking it's east of us, where are you getting these other directional indicators from! So, getting to the point, it dawned on me that if I am standing in Europe, there are the directions like magic. To the west is the US, to the north is (I think) the UK, Germany, Scandinavia, etc. The map will be sure I am clear on the east and south as well, eventually.

I don't know why it irritates me but it does. Having had these District nurses visiting here a couple of timess a week since the accident 6 weeks ago.. I've never seen the same one twice... . Some have been surly some have been friendly.. however a few have made comments about my house.. all have been complementary... but... I cannot stand it when someone I don't know makes comments about individual items...

For example..One said..''oooh you collect pots.. ( vases).. I don't collect them.. I just have a few designer vases in my livingroom....''how beautiful they are , she said.. and went round the livingroom looking for more to spot...and to pick up...

Then another..DN.. ''ooh you have a beautiful home''.. we;ll that I didn't mind really, ..... it's the individual comments... and today was no different.. The nurse on her way out of the livingroom, picked up a framed photo of me from some shelves by the door .. and made some albeit nice comments about it.. but it irritated me , altho' I didn't show it

I just thought, why are you picking up something that doesn't belong to you.. you're a stranger in my home.... I didn't give you permission to pick that up...

I know it probably sounds silly and petty, but it just irritates me people picking up my things without permission

I was discussing this with DH. He said not only does he agree with you, he thinks they should come in a van and you go outside to them. And no, they definitely should not touch your stuff.
He doesn't trust anyone except by exception. 🙂
 
Most enjoyable free music and dancing last night with 3 hard core rock bands (2 from LA) from 8pm to 12:30am at a SF peninsula venue 45 miles north that is partly outdoors in the dark that I love. Sort of old roadhouse style next to a noisy freeway and commercial section so booming sound outdoors doesn't really bother the neighborhood. Heck, just an easy 2 block walk to loud crashing surf with cool foggy 58F degree marine air of the Pacific Ocean. Picking up more and more fans with every event.

Only got 5 hours sleep till 6:30am but not sleepy, and now on this Saturday, expect to drive at midday 55 miles north again but to San Franicsco to another outdoor jam band event where at Haight Ashbury there is a Jerry Crawl at pubs playing Dead tunes all day while for 5 hours afternoon are 5 jam bands playing outdoors at the adjacent park. Of course, already commented how I was out and rowdy Wednesday so expect mental fuel might start running noticeable low like happens to me.

Think I'll eat an uncommon breakfast and then hopefully, with ear plugs and eye wrap, be able to fall back asleep for at least a half hour. I have to admit, actually enjoying driving the recently purchased used 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS on these longer day trips even in traffic as it is sort of like being at some amusement park and driving a kids car given all the electronic distractions on the dash and the weird truck suspension way it feels with massive bouncy acceleration energy, versus driving any vehicle I've owned over decades in the past.

Last 3+ decades in Subarus. Its a surprisingly tall car, (probably an American design thing haha) for a compact SUV, so sitting weirdly way high in the driver's seat is like driving a big pickup looking down on other adjacent drivers. A bit scary in dense traffic too because I have much less lateral visibility sides and backward versus the Subarus. Will admit, the rear view video backup camera, greatly helps parallel and street curb parking much.

Morning ,, folks,,nice to see you all :)

Lately, my plans for my days get all messed up..... Hubby up before me & ready to start his day.

I stagger down stairs,, drag my self to give Mac his potty walk.
Back in check blood sugar,, breakfast,, get the funnies for hubby to see.

Is us? why don't the funnies be funny anymore?

By the time I think I'm ready to tackle whatever household chore,, hubby is back in wore out by whatever he was doing.

Another long walk that Mac wants, happens,,, time to smell the flowers,, fight off the bees.
Hope that NO woodchucks are out & about,, that Mac,, Doesn't see them.

Now to think of dinner,,,,,,,,, by then hubby wants to go somewhere.

Quickly, I get ready..... well that drive was nice as we did eat out.

Today looks to be repeat of yesterday,,,,,,,,,only may be a chance oldest son Might stop by!
He's in eastern PA at large Corvette show.

His "New" corvette needs tries to for car shows.
Sounds like this car will be a "trailer Oueen".

I better get to moving ,,meals to worry about ,, house to tidy up.

Anybody is welcome to stop by if they want to help cook or clean.:)
 
Welp, the sausage gravy & biscuits werre a hit from what
I see !!!! And I am tickled to announce that the Bluestreak was
instrumental in completing the stuff, I was getting low=back-sore :D
so I jumped on the Bluestreak, traveled 10feet into the
kitchen, and sat on the "blue" to finish browning the extra
sausage I put in the gravy!!! WORKED GREAT, thanks Bluestreak!!!:p
 
Every morning at sunrise I am getting excited, "This is the day God has made for us." The first rays of the sun fill me
with strength. Life is wonderful. This is the first day of the rest of my life. I am grateful for every day God grants me.

It's been 2+ days since my iron infusion... it has at least eased off the brain fog and dizziness. Regaining my strength will take more time as there is more involved with that than my hemoglobin level.

This morning I made a trip to the library... there was a little boy (maybe 4 yrs old) who came out of the stacks as I walked in, his face alight with excitement; he could barely see over the top of the check out desk but he handed his book to the librarian while doing a little jig. So cute. It's a pleasure to see kids excited about books and reading.

Grocery store run for a few things, including the makings of veggie soup. I know we still have 6+ weeks before it's *really* soup weather but it's overcast and rainy today, so I'm in the mood for soup.

Home, sipping a restorative cup of coffee, prepping soup and listening to instrumental jazz on YouTube.
