Left: When my wife came back home from Canada, I gave her a hug and a bunch of roses. Right: My son-in-law saved
me well over $1K by repairing the bumper by himself. Considering that my Corolla is 14 years old, he did a fantastic job.

My grandson at a pumpkin patch where they also had some amusement for the kids. Next comes pumpkin carving at home.

Why is the place under my bed so popular with the pups? Next to the storage boxes, there is hardly any space for all 3 of them.

The self-checkout and I had a Spot of Bother today.

My total initially rang up as $5.38.

I put .38 in the coin slot and was preparing to slid in a $10.00 bill. Then I guess the machine calculated my discount and changed the total. Now I owed $5.08. It calculated the change I had put in and said I now owed $4.70.

I didn’t want a lot of extra change so I cancelled the payment and started again.

Now it kept refusing coins…. I’d slide the right amount in, about 1/2 the coins came back unaccepted. Did this 2-3 times

Of course there was a lady waiting for me to finish my purchase. I apologized and tried different coins

Finally got it down to where I was just one penny shy of correct change. Would it take any of my Pennie’s? Pfffttt

I finally gave up, fed the 10.00 bill into the slot and begrudgingly collected my $4.99 As @Georgiagranny says, >le sigh<

An old friend is in town for the week. She was going to help me haul off some stuff in her SUV. Last night she was hit by a car thief fleeing the area and her car was totaled, She is bruised but OK. Now I am more concerned about her than all my excess junk.
OMG...that's terrible..poor woman she must be thoughly shaken up. Thank God she wasn't seriously hurt...

Now 9pm. This early Monday morning was feeling not too lively after an enjoyably rowdy weekend. But today had an 8:55am PDT KP appointment for an eye exam, I did not want to miss. So after waking up late at 8:20am, then moving quickly, with a 20 minute drive across the direction of commute traffic. The eye exam went well, and received a new, more current prescription. Kaiser given their huge resources, has an impressive collection of eye exam equipment. My eyes have remained about the same for years except for diplopia that is more an issue driving at night facing ongoing headlamps. On the way home, bought $55 worth of groceries at Walmart Neighborhood Market.

Late morning back home wrote up all my monthly bills, bought some postal stamps at the post office, and sent the USPS mail out. First Class stamps are now $0.78 !!! Then on my HP Omen 35L desktop with my huge Asus ProArt 32" 4k display, studied weather forecast for the next few days as it appears Wednesday could provide uncommonly ideal conditions to photograph some giant sequoia with a Pacific dogwood understory in fall leaf color. That would require either from 5am PDT dawn, a 150 mile drive east against the commute, so maybe 3 hours, allowing an arrival at Calaveras Big Trees State Park about 8am or less than an hour after astronomical sunrise.

Or not but tomorrow Wednesday morning, quickly, carefully, a logistical challenge, pile up gear at my front door and escape by late morning towards the destination, finding a discrete spot within Stanislaus National Forest boundaries to legally disperse camp inside my Trailblazer overnight. That way I could wake up leisurely Wednesday at sunrise, get on the loop trail, then find subjects I would return to in another hour plus.

For optimum photography down in forest subjects one needs an overcast bright cloudy sky during mid day hours when more of the diffuse light is moving downward between trees, spreading more evenly. Trying to photography such forest subjects in sunlight is otherwise far too contrasty for image sensors. Thus one needs even diffuse lighting that is what I just used last week while out in the big snow storm.

Well after lunch today, fell asleep some too while reading a neuroscience book that am on page 376 of. Was still about 80F near sunset, with calm air, so went out street exercising late this afternoon.

Morning Peeps of SF.... 🌺

Lovely sunny albeit chilly morning here in South East England... 12 deg F🌤️

They forecast rain again for later.

DD will ring in her lunch hour in a little while.....she has to ring from work because she has little or no signal at her house.

This is a reason I would never give up my landline... but when she bought the house 2 years ago there was no landline in there and she didnt want one installed... but it does make it awkward for her to make calls from home with the signal as bad as it is.. when she does she has to go and stand in the shed .
Fortunately I suppose, her generation.. ( X) tend to do everything by text, and emails....

After she rings I may go out.. I'll see how I feel

Have the best day you can SF'ers 🌸🌸

Good morning to everyone. Another cool day and no rain in forecast. The Atlantic has a storm that might be named Melissa and might turn so it hits South Florida as one of the projections, or it might go out in the Atlantic Ocean or go West into the Caribbean Sea.

Waiting for grocery delivery and man coming to fix vertical blinds this morning.

Have a good day, everyone. :)

Morning all on my early walk at 6:45, temp was 46 wearing my yellow reflector vest as I walked twice a around the building before breakfast, I saw a couple people running they were wearing either blinking red or green light vests
I have mentioned in the past about me leading the' Striders Walking Club' every other Tues at 10 which was revamped starting last month. Its turned out to be a dud,but I'm not really surprised. One week I would go with 1-2 residents, following week nobody. Last week I talked briefly with Alex{she puts all the events in our monthly calendar} I told her I appreciated the idea about this club,we agreed to suspend it until spring.I'll continue going by myself
The rest of my day, after lunch at 1 going in Gates van with 3 other residents to local grocery store,Wegmans
read NYT, my book, after dinner tackle daily NYT crossword puzzle
Everybody have a great day

The heavy rain all day yesterday was a washout on garden plans, but we utilised the time, although it did damage our wealth a tad. My lady had her nails 'done.' That means professionally manicured, trimmed and nail varnished, it also means that I was releaved of a couple of larger denomination bank notes.
I can't really complain, my wife is a treasure, she does so much for me and our home, let her have her nails 'done,' an indulgence she loves.
My spending was on tickets for a couple of functions. A dinner/dance on Saturday and then in November we are off to a boogie, woogie weekend, just day tickets for the Saturday.

I had a busy, interesting, fun, productive weekend. It was also tiring, so I didn’t get on the computer for a couple of days. Friday morning I went food shopping; hadn’t been in almost three weeks. Saturday I did laundry because I was out of my house clothes. Laundry day is tiring for me, what with going up and down the steps a couple of times and doing the bending, twisting and lifting required to dry the clothes and put them away.

Saturday night, I got dressed (street clothes), went over and sat with my Honorary Son #3 (HS#3) as he did his broadcast. Afterward, though I was very hungry, he convinced me to go to Best Buy with him because he had to get ink that night. An individual sized bag of Popcorners curbed my hunger.

Sunday I went with HS#3 to Harlem, N.Y. to see the performance of the murder mystery he wrote. The actors put a comedy spin on it and it worked beautifully. The play was delightful; he and the cast got a standing ovation. Another play was performed before his…some of the same actors, but no standing ovation after that performance. Two of the actors that live in a different town rode with us. After we dropped them off, we went to Shoprite, then Amazon Fresh. I wanted something quick to fix that wouldn’t make a dirty dish, so I got Marie Callendar’s pot pies. I was so tired after I ate half of one that I fell asleep.

Today I have an appointment with my cardiologist. I'm also supposed to take part in a cognitive assessment that HS#3 is doing for his doctorate program. He expects it will take about an hour. Other than that, I'll see what else I get done today. Usually when I post my plans for the day early, half or none of the stuff gets done.

You mind that cardiologist doesn't comment: "Too many bags of Popcorners." Just teasing Diva, sincerely, I do hope that all is well. My wife's recovery has taken as long as her surgeon predicted, so I hope your cardiologist finds nothing untoward.
