If you put them in the fridge, they will keep longer. The peels will turn black, but the fruit inside will be fine.
My ex-husband would cover peeled bananas in chocolate and freeze them. They were delicious, but I've never figured out how to keep the chocolate on the banana.
No they don't the banana turns into mush....

Well, those are some bizarre bananas. I think you're right, that the store is mishandling them when they arrive.
yes and this is not just one supermakret chain..it's all of them... and the worst offenders, are Market stall greengrocers , traditionally cheaper ..... but buying any fruit from them can pretty much guarantee they'll gone off in less than 2 days

I hope y'all had great Thanksgivings!

I heard from my daughter. She has the flu, the actual flu. So what about a flu shot? She couldn't find any who knew where she could get one.

She needs to buy clothes. She says the French women are tiny -- thin, not muscular at all, narrow shoulders, and short. They remind her of Audrey Hepburn, who is the woman I would most enjoy looking like. She is 5'6" slender, not a body builder, and with an entirely different body type. The French women she meets all think she is an athlete - like, for real. So she feels like a moose next to them, but she isn't at all.

So my 2 adult guy fan club members think I am "tiny and delicate" and are always picking me up. I hate that and punch them in the stomach as hard as I can. They are both very muscular, but my nephew (age 57) is literally a body builder. He is gigantic. When we are in public, women of all ages literally stop and stare at him!

So daughter broke up with her boyfriend. Since then, guys have been hitting on her. One was a professional hockey player from Canada who introduced himself by telling her she was beautiful, and that he was a famous athlete on a famous team, but he quit to live in France. She looked him up on wikipedia and sure enough! She did not like him because he didn't want to learn French and it was obvious he was on the prowl.

Then she met another guy who is French, and who told her she was quite attractive, and said, "You shall come to my apartment". Way to sign your own death warrant, Buster! She met these guys either coming out of a shop or walking down the street! None gave her any real trouble but she was like not pleased with them for one reason or another, thank heavens! Although, if she married someone she'd met in similar circumstances, she could say, "This is my husband, Pierre. We met on a street corner in Paris!" Paris make the story sound better than Angers (pronounced not like an American would). I think it sounds so risque, while being quite innocent!

Here in my own life, I have embarked on a study of something that is going to rage out of control if I don't color within the lines. I picked up a book called Forensic Pathology of Unexpected and Unexplained Deaths. So I plowed through 4 chapters (each on a different body system) and realized I need more info because half the time I had no clear idea of what was being talked about. So I got a dozen more books that people in first year of medical school should read. I'd read a lot of the suggested books already, and I'm so excited to read the new ones.

I don't know who named various body parts, but I don't know why they had to get so darned fancy. I can't pronounce half of them, spell any of them, and wonder why they can't all be easy like nose or stomach. I guess I'll be getting a medical dictionary.

(I will say that since I read about grave robbers who sold the bodies to physicians so they could take a look inside, when I was 6, I have been passionate about reading about the human body, and about what animals in general actually look like inside. I'd love to see various surgeries and autopsies, too. And dissect a cadaver! Maybe youtube has that. But when I thought of all the docs I used to know when I lived here before, I looked them up and they had all died. They would have arranged all that for me. But now I will have to throw myself on the mercy of my PCP and cardiologist. I just want to watch, not to touch anything.

My Southern doctors, though, are probably going to wince at my being so unladylike. They are old. OTOH, I try to shock them whenever possible. No, not by using curse words -- I do, of course, IRL -- but I am trying to be both well bred and outrageous at the same time. It's fun to watch them laugh and then choke as though they had never laughed at all.

Then I decided to browse around the NIH website and read some papers. Two more interesting topics popped up -- the rate of suicides among physicians and medical malpractice. So I got some books and bookmarked some papers on NIH and I'm dying (ha ha) to read them too.

So I expect my studying these topics will feel to me like my dog felt when he rolled around on a dead fish! Anyway I finally stopped this endeavor at 6 a.m. this morning, slept for about 6 hours, and now I am eager to get right back into it. Land sakes, it's midnight. Time for meds and bed. Darn it! I have to get back to my regular sleep schedule.

I don't know why your daughter says that French women are tiny.. it's not generally true.. they come in all shapes and sizes like most of us.. altho' they don't have a big overweight problem there.....yet !

Morning peeps of SF...

It's 7.40am, just getting light and it's wet, altho' not actively raining now....

Hope all our American friends had the thansgiving day they wished for... have the best day Post Thnksgiving that you can... 🍂 🍂 🍂 🍂

I know those shops..aside from the Chinese food shop which I don't remember being there ..that must have arrived after I retired. Debenhams was just closing down when I retired....

I try not to go to Borehamwood..my X still works at the studios and he lives on the ''high'' street.. so I don't want to bump into him...😖

Holly, does your ex have a black Maserati by any chance? My son and I were at the vets in the 'High st' yesterday, getting our cat vaccinated and checked over. I was stood looking out of the window, and a black Maserati came along the road to the Tescos roundabout, and then went on along to the big one by the studios.

I remember you saying that your ex bought himself a Maserati for his 60th, and I just wondered if perhaps the one I saw was his.

That reminds me, one day I was filling the car at the Tescos petrol station when the actor Adam Woodyate from Eastenders pulled up behind me in his silver Maserati and started filling it up. That's the trouble with living in a town that's also a film set, you never know who you're going to see out on the streets.

Fame, I am definitely not famous, but the old car certainly attracts celebrity attention. Dressed like this I was once asked: "Are you on the television?"

Not a film set as such, but this area has been used for a number of TV and film locations. On filming days, it was not unusual to see various actors wandering round.
well having worked actors for decades..and my husband being one of the bosses at the BBC I am absolutely unfazed or impressed by any actor...unless they've done something extraordinary!

So Holly, is that you in the yellow top with your face blanked out? If so I'm impressed. You've obviously looked after yourself, unlike me and the missus, who both look like roly poly versions of our younger selves.
yes that's me...that's also me in my avatar.... the avatar was taken the year I retired 8 years ago:)

When my daugher Kate was around 18 or so, she worked in a nursery that was based at the back of the BBC studios. She said that the nursery staff didn't have anything to do with the actors, and kept well away from them when they all had lunch at the canteen on site.

I think it would have been the actors and crew would have kept away from the nursery staff rather than the other way around because the cast and crew have their own eating areas...

I'm presuming you're talking about Elstree studios... there's quite a few BBC studios around the country..lol

The Watercress Line, a heritage railway near Winchester have made their: "Retro Wheels and Rails," event a very popular attraction, generating much need cash. My wife and I get the invitation to be "extras" at such events. It's always good fun, and looking the part, along with the old car, some visitors are convinced that they have seen us in this or that.

The Watercress line has featured in numerous productions, including the BBC series, Call the Midwife, Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feast, The Wrong Mans and the film: Children of Men. It was also in, Great British Railway Journeys, Endeavour and was featured in the 2017 film: Electric Dreams. The line is also recognised for its King's Cross Bridge, which was used in the Harry Potter films.

The BBC Eastenders studio. I think the nursery she worked at was called Buffer Bear. She had to give up after a year or so because she ended up hurting her back from picking up small children all the time.

She's now married to a very handsome Frenchman called Michel, and they have a house in Brittany that they bought for £35K.

That's the one. It used to be a Granada TV studio years ago and the entrance wasn't in Clarendon Rd then. It was in the road that's next to McDonalds. I remember doing deliveries there back in the early 80s when I worked as a despatch rider. I also delivered to the old Elstree studios building that was where the Tescos petrol station is now. It was a pretty grand affair, and when I delivered there I had to go upstairs to one of the offices on the first floor. The place seemed empty to me, and it must have been not long before it was closed and half the site was sold to Tesco.
