How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

After a very lazy day yesterday I have been super-busy today. I got up very early and got to Walmart (a place I try to avoid on weekend if at all possible) early. It was blissfully NOT crowded. Then I stopped by the grocery store for produce etc.

Then I went to church for the first time in years. I've been away for a number of reasons. I saw many old friends and acquaintances, including one quite good friend I don't see very often because of our busy schedules. I also saw a former "friend" (not-friend) who ghosted me after the addiction debacle 6 years ago. Her youngest son and my son have been best friends since first grade; my son is in her son's wedding here next Memorial Day. Fortunately, I managed to criss-cross through the crowds and avoid her.

It was snowy when I left for Walmart first thing, but when I got out of church both the snow and the wind had kicked up to near-blizzard conditions. I'm glad to be home in my cozy warm apartment.

I hope all are having a good day!

Last day of a 4 day break in Cambridge. We’re now at a place called Burwash Manor. Lots of artisan craft buildings and a lovely cafe called ‘Flock’ where we had breakfast. Mine was a Mexican Huevos Rancherros with Grilled Chorizo, Chipotle Beans, Bacon, Poached Eggs, Ancho Butter and Tortilla chips.
Here we are…

I did some financial stuff, then napped on and off for a good part of the day, so didn't accomplish what I had planned. I intended to start practicing the Jazz piano finger exercises found on "YouTube University", as we call it. Part of the reason was to prepare for playing on my son's new project which I hadn't heard. When he got home from the mosque I was sleeping, but roused myself around 5:45 p.m. I ate a brownie with decaf coffee, made a quick call to HS#3 and joined my son in the studio.

I was a bit surprised at what he wanted for the project, but it's right up my alley. It's shaping up to be a Club-House, New Age track with a spacey vibe, thanks to the synth sounds he found and what I played. I laid down a melody that had him smiling and making comments of surprise and approval. I'm so happy he loves what I did! :D After we finished, I loaded and ran the dishwasher. I'm done for the night.

Thank you Holly for the good wishes.

This cold has really set my husband's health back.

He was chatty with oldest son on their weekly phone chat.
Sign he's getting better??

It does surprise me that he is listening to me when I 'suggest' he ware a mask to go to grocery & does put one on.

Perhaps his mine is listening to his body?
I have to go to Physiotherapy tomorrow, and on Tuesday I'm going for a minor operation at the hospital.. and because the flu cases have apparently reached epidemic levels here in the UK, and dire warnings are being given out..... then I'm going to be wearing a Mask to both places ..the last thing I want to get is this very bad variant of the Flu so I'm taking no chances

Afternoon Peeps of SF...

It's 3.20pm here and I'm not long back from town and Physiotherapy.... It's horrendous weather again...torrential rain...like Biblical.... absolutely horrible. 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️

However the good thing about it was that the roads were not jammed with traffic for once, and I was able to leave Physio and drive into the local town centre and have my nails done for Christmas.

I had Gel nails .. sparkly.. but I had to have them done this early because closer to Chritmas I won't be able to get an appointment at all.. and these gel nails will last 5 weeks...

then I popped into M&S and got a few groceries bits.... .. it was almost a joy to be out despite the lack of people... rain due to the lack of crowds...

I popped in to have a coffee and while in there escaping from the rain... my gardener rang and asked if I wanted him to come and do my lawns... WTH?... torrential rain?.. what ?... he said he'd walked past and seen my grass was long.. ( not really long..it's covered in leaves tbh)... I told him to leave it for a dry day if not until after Christmas... and after I hung up it dawned on me.. perhaps he's broke with Chritmas coming up, (he's self employed with a partner and 2 small children) .. and looking to get whatever work he can. ...

I would just give him a bucksee payment for Christmas in normal circumstances, but he doesn't deserve it, he's been so flaky this year.. let me down many times.. so I'm not going to reward bad work...

Have the best day you can folks...

I should have carried on and explained that she's going to Morrison's supermarket to fill her car up with petrol, then up the A1 to the M25, and round that to the West, till she gets to either the the M3 junction or the A3 junction. Then it's all along the road till she gets to Portsmouth, where she'll get the ferry to St Malo, and from there back to their house in a small village called Locarn.

With luck she should be arriving home some time tomorrow morning, but she's booked a cabin on the ferry, so if it's not too rough she should get a night's sleep.

well good luck to her with the sailing.. because the weather is horrendous and its not going to get better according to the forecast... ..she's not got far to travel fortunately...

WE used to drive and sail to Spain occasionally when the dogs had to be brought back and forth ..took 3 days.. it's absoutely horrible on the sea if the weather's bad..

The only time we've been on the ferry was when we went from Plymouth to Rostoff several years ago, and Kate and her husband Michel picked us up from the ferry port. We chose not to take the car as we were being picked up, but we had a reasonable crossing and managed to sleep in our cabin for an hour or so, even though the crossing is only around 5hrs from Plymouth to Rostoff.

As for the weather at the moment. We've had mainly drizzle here in Borehamwood, although it did get a bit heavier for around 10 mins or so earlier, so I was surprised when you said it's been tipping down further East where you are.

I've just looked up the weather at Portsmouth for this evening, and her ferry leaves at 8pm, at which time it should be windy, with the wind coming up from the SSW at 21mph, gusting to 37mph. The crossing is 12hrs, so the boat will be going directly into the wind overnight, and is due to arrive at 9am French time at St Malo. According to XCWeather, it will be more or less the same there when she lands as it will be when she sets off from Portsmouth.

Whether she'll be able to sleep or not depends on how good her sea legs are, but at 40, she's quite fit and healthy, and she's never complained about sea sickness before, so I expect she'll be fine. If she isn't then no doubt she'll get some sea sickness pills on the boat.

I sincerely hope not!

According to the forecast, we're due to get around 0.2-0.4mm of rain overnight, but 2.4mm at around 3am tomorrow. After that it's back to 0.1mm for the morning, but warm (14c) and windy, with the wind from the SSW at 20mph, gusting up to 45mph at one point in the early afternoon.

I hope it's not too bad in the early morning, as I'm due to drive my missus up to Luton airport at 5am. She's off to Gdansk in Poland with her mate Sarah to go to the Christmas market there for 3 days. I just hope the plane journey is not too bumpy for them.

I've told her to say 'Hi!' to Lech Walesa if she see's him while they're out and about. 👍

However, I doubt if he's that easy to spot.

What made me laugh is that she's been getting all her Winter clothes out ready for the trip, and it's forecast to be 12c for the whole time she's there, so she needn't have worried. Doh! :ROFLMAO:
