I went on a short 2-night trip over the weekend and met my grand-nephews (3 and 5 yrs) for the first time. I hadn't seen some of the family since maybe 2009, and other than my daughter I hadn't seen the others since 2015, and it was the first time in 3 years seeing my daughter (in real life vs face time). I found out my brother had married his SO 14 years ago and never mentioned it, so I have a "new to me" sister-in-law!
It was all very busy, noisy, crowded, and cheerful, my ex-sister-in-law is an amazing hostess.
The plane rides to and from were completely packed and I was in the cheapest economy which was like being in steerage, even the plane bathroom in our section was so small my shoulders touched the walls on both sides, I can't imagine how larger people could even fit in.
I'm finally (since getting home) beyond the 'soft foods' stage of post-tongue-biopsy (tho not yet allowed to eat crunchy and hard foods). I've still not gotten the pathology results of the biopsy, so I emotionally swing back and forth from optimistic that life will resume as normal and pessimistic that life as I've known it will be over. The follow up appointment is tomorrow so if I don't hear today I expect to surely get the results tomorrow.
I've also come down with a cold since getting home, I blame exposure to children! ha!
@Pepper - it's fantastic to hear that you are home!
