it's so hot isn't it?... I had 2 fans... a tower fan and a bedside fan on during the night... and it was still 85 in my room... so hard to sleep..... currently here in the office room with the fans on it's 31 deg...
It's like a sauna in my sw facing sheltered garden... 🥵
 
I feel for those experiencing hot weather. All those years in Texas heat, no thanks!

Just yesterday, I switched from the winter bed sheets (polyester) to the summer ones (100% cotton). It's supposed to get into the low 80's F/high 20'sC late this week. Time to plant some seeds outside.
 
Hi all FOLKS, just saw the big flags being placed at
the cemetery streets this morning, got those scouts
up early!!! Sunny and nice out 62F, heading into 80's
later today....I did nothing yesterday so better stir
my rump and start some laundry today....got to figure out what to eat for today, maybe cereal this

Good morning to everyone. It is sunny now but the last two days and nights we have had heavy rain. The grass sure did love it. There was loud thunder with the storms, too. Now it seems everyday will have rain in the next 10 days.

We are getting a pizza for lunch today from our favorite Italian restaurant. It will be our main meal. We do not eat a large meal for dinner, anymore.

I hope all of you stay well and enjoy Memorial Day. :)
 
The older two GKs were with us yesterday. They get along with each other so much better when they're not with their parents, which I suppose is typical. We pretty much let them do whatever they want when they're here, and they don't take advantage. The 14 year old is going on his first date today (either a movie or bowling, he'll leave it up to the girl).

I remember my first official date fondly and hope it goes equally well for him.

The 2 year old GS is coming to spend the day with us today, so we'll have had time with all of our GKs this weekend. Life doesn't get better than this. ❤️
 
93 Degree here today....hottest May Bank Holiday ever..in fact hottest day in May...

We might sound like win jing poms , but you gotta remember 99 % of us don't have AC in our houses.. so it's brutal.. 🥵 🥵

I'm not long home...it's racing towards 4.30pm... I took a 60 mile round trip just for the AC in my car pretty much... altho' I did stop off and get a few groceries, and also into the Big Box hardware store.. then I drove on, and stopped at macDonalds' drive thru. I rarely eat McD's, but when i do it's always the same thing, just a cheeseburger, with no ketchup, no mustard , and absolutely no Dill pickle..
I was shocked.... 5 minutes ago it seems ..last time I got one.... it was 99p...today it was £1.66 that's very typical of the high price rises in everything here lately...

what was good about today unlike most other sunny days was that there wasn't even a whisper of cloud in the sky so no blinding sunlight in my eyes needing the car visors down. It just occured to me as a i was driving along that it was like drivng on the continent where it's wall to wall solid blue, and no blinding sunshin as we turn a corner ...so it's much easier on the eyes...

i would have stayed and gone somewhere else, but I'd bought some frozen fruits.. couldn't get any fresh it was all sold out... so I had to get home before all that thawed..
 
Afternoon all, on my early morning walk at 6:50 temp was 60 with a bit of fog as I went around the building. It felt like a early Sat morning, no traffic,only the birds chirping. My knees were a bit stiff because I did walk home from church yesterday took me 25 min
On my mid morning walk around 10, sun was trying to peak through the clouds a bit warmer as I walked a block away to local cemetery,"Forest Lawn' where my maternal grand parents are. I always try to come by around this holiday or July 4th. I didn't notice a few runners and a couple walkers while I was there
In our cafe today from 11-2pm,there was buffet of food for the holiday, 4 different salads, usual hot dogs,hamburgers w buns,corn on the cob, beans chicken 2 desserts. I came into the cafe around 1:30, ordered from 3 selections for dinner, I chose chicken thighs, corn on the cob,it was delivered between around 3:30,I'll have it around 6

I've been clearing out my kitchen cabinets off and on since early this morning. My son bought ten large boxes from Walmart as well as several papers to protect the glasses. He also helped me by taking things off the top shelves and sometimes we were handing things off to one another. It's almost 11:30 p.m. and I'm still not done. Guess I took too many breaks and naps. I do my best work in the middle of the night anyway, so will finish up tomorrow before sunrise. My little kitchenette has a lot of cabinets and I have too much stuff! 🙄 I did toss a few things. The kitchen demolition is scheduled to start tomorrow.

One of the reasons for the breaks is that I took advantage of Roku's MGM+ special price. 99 cents a month for two months. $7.99 thereafter. I will have watched the shows I'm interested in and canceled before the special pricing ends. I mainly subscribed so I can watch From, but wound up watching three episodes of the War Of The Worlds series (2020). Normally, I would have subscribed directly through MGM, but doing it this way saved me $14.

Morning all, on early walk temp was 58,sun was out as I walked behind 3 buildings driveways, walked towards the front walking back around our building complex
My plans today read yesterday& today's NYT,ck out lunch/dinner menu
This afternoon at 1 ,taking Gates van with 2 other residents to local grocery store, Wegmans.When the 3 of us are together we usually finish our shopping within 25 min
I hope to take afternoon walk taking advantage of sunny warm day, temps near 80

Afternoon All... 🌺 another very hot day...94 degrees... 🌞🌞🌞

I was planning to go out... but the weather app said there night be thunderstorms this afternoon.. so I changed my mind. Tomorrow apparently the temps will drop significantly, so I'll go out then.

Last night was horrendous trying to sleep... in the heat. It was 88 deg in my bedroom even with 2 tower fans on...🥵🥵

In the meantime my lawns are like straw.. and when I had the new utility room installed they took out my ability to attach my hose to an under sink tap, without me realising at the time..... so I can't even water the garden with the hose..I have to find an attachment that will fit on an over sink tap....

last night about midnight I went out and filled the bird bath so when it got light at 5am the early birds would have a drink. This morning I looked and the bird bath was almost empty.. so I've refilled it about an hour ago... my garden is full of birds and bird song all the time... from early morning until dark.. since we've had this very high temperatures, the birds have been silent...:(

Good Morning good folks!!! It is starting here with bright Sunshine 66F, and
NO rain, yay.....Had a lousy sleep, but so what?! Aches are normal, so no
big deal today.....Laundry was finished yest, didn't have much, still got
to fold a bit & put away....got to call and argue with lively service sbout
another bill they sent me....crazy.....but all will be well, take care everone !!;):love::coffee:
