@hollydolly

If it would make you feel better, know that tomorrow I will be joining you in misery. They are coming to install carpet in both bedrooms, the room that used to be a hot tub room but is now just another room, the stairs and hallway. Which means everything has to come out of those rooms. Where to put it all while they work? They may have to glue down the tack strips, which means leaving them overnight to dry.

I called a teen who lives next door to come this morning and help me move the small stuff, like the storage bins under the beds, the night stands, and miscellaneous other stuff because the closet floors also have to be cleared. ARGH!

They will have to do one room at a time. That's all there is to it. Not looking forward to the next few days. Considering the B&B across the road but the dogs complicate that and it's $250/night! I can feel my blood pressure rising.

Dreadful.. ! been there and starred in that movie.... I don't envy you.. but lucky you that you could call a teen to help ...

This morning I said to the boss man that the appliances were arriving on Wednesday..he'd initially told me it would be safe to order them to arrive Tuesday..today... I'm pleased I was wiser than him and ordered for wednesday ... however he's now said that they won't be ready to have them installed tomorrow, and can I have them all put in the house in the meantime.....I said absolutely not, where am I going to fit a washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge freezer... all packaged up.. in my house ?

Oh my. This is one of those "no matter how bad off you are, there is always somebody worse". Can you delay the delivery??? For next week?

I'm up. No coffee this morning, not until after our appointments. I sure would enjoy a cup since it's very cold this morning, plus I didn't sleep well last night.

I have about 30 minutes before I need to make breakfast and get myself going. Hopefully, I'll be more awake by then. 😴

Morning all, I didn't go outside yesterday because was too windy with snow blowing high was 25. I got my exercise by walking the hallway a couple of times, the day dragged The 3-5 inches predicted over night for the city never materialized
This morning around 6:50, I did go outside all bundled up,temp was 9 with slight breeze,I walked on the sidewalks by our front entrance a couple times just to get some fresh air. I might go out mid morning, sunshine in forecast high in the teens.
The rest of my day read yesterday& today;s NYT,see what today's menu for lunch& dinner is offering
Every body have a good day

Good morning everyone. It is cold outside this morning 31 degrees. I had to water my gardenia plant yesterday as it is covered. It was hard getting the cover up enough to water and had to use a pitcher as water outside turned off. I guess it will survive and now more freezing weather next week. I do not remember this cold of weather happening so often.

Grocery delivery today and they are late assigning a shopper. I know I will get one eventually.

I hope things go better for you @hollydolly I will be happy for you when the work is all completed. Stay positive and best wishes to you. 🤗

Everyone, stay well and warm in the cold weather.:)

Happy Tuesday, January 20th!

Up early - awoke at 4:30am and couldn't get back to sleep so I gave up after an hour. Nap later? Could be...

Shortly after making coffee and settling down to my desktop to see what y'all have been up to, I noticed my laptop (used when traveling) was missing its power cord. Odd that it wasn't near the laptop itself. Oh dear. The hunt was on.

I picked through the cabinet housing our tangled graveyard of power cords, adapters, routers, USB hubs, ethernet cables, wires to hook phones to landline outlets, and other electronics adjuncts. There was even an iPod adapter for an automobile cassette deck! Good grief.

Fortunately, I soon recalled the last person to use the laptop was DGD over Thanksgiving. Checked near where she'd been seated and voila!

Nevertheless, the unholy confusion of electronics is now imprinted on my mind. When I have spare hour or two and am up for the challenge I'll weed through, bag and label what may still be useful, put electronic waste in the box that goes to that city recycling center, and pitch the rest. Maybe later today. Maybe not. We'll see.

Hope all find a way to make today a good one!

I was looking out my window and saw Fedex out front and wondered where they were making a delivery and it was for me. It is a 50" TV we ordered yesterday from Best Buy, so I had the driver bring it into the house. We are going to have it in our computer room and replace a 40" one. We have to have help, so a young friend will put it up for us. I didn't have a notice it was being delivered but wow, it looks good in the box, it is a Samsung.

@StarSong, you sound like us with things being misplaced. We search and search and finally we can find them. Although, I think our house swallows them at times.

I can’t. I give up. Need to do it for myself. Not you. Not grandson. Not son
I'm just seeing this post, today, now.

You're right, Pepper.

Not for someone else.
For yourself.

You are actually worth it.

I understand how extreme the difficulty, of the painful struggle.
And of trying to believe in yourself .

Yet, you.....are.... worth...it.

You are worth the terribly hard work. The nearly impossible and painful work of hanging on.
Just in case it eases up at some point.

I'm home....what a day!

Dio's appointment went as expected. He's going to need a week or so to heal, but he doesn't need to go back until 6 months from now. That's really good.....he used to have to go every 3 months!

My appointment was a total fiasco!!!! I ended up leaving without having anything done. (I won't go into any details.) They better not bill me for for that appointment!!!! 😠

I'd like to add that the staff was very pleasant and apologetic over the whole thing, but it sure was a waste of my time! I used to go to this place many years ago. I didn't like it then, and it's no better now!!! Unfortunately, they are the only place locally that offers the service that I need. The next closest place is about 120 miles away.....so I guess I'll be going there, once the winter weather is over!!!

Well what a long day it's been. My back is killing me....

.... the handyman ..which is his title..... altho' he seemed more skilled than the skilled workers before him.. was here until early evening... and his job was to caulk everything... all around the tiles, the sink etc..... attach the new Windowsill... ease off any drawers that are sticking in the new units, and attach a hose with a tap for the outdoor hose-pipe... except there was some things he couldn't do because he wasn't told they needed doing, and so he didn't bring the appropriate tools ( plumbing)... so he'll be back tomorrow along with the electrician, because he flagged up some things that the latter hadn't done...

While he was here I was chatting to him... and he told me has 8 kids.. all born in the Uk.. even tho' he and his wife are Romanian... but what made me laugh was that he said he'd trained to be a Priest for 9 years.... and then decided against it...

I got an email this evening from the AA roadside service ( AAA in the US)... telling me that my renewal is due and informing me that the cost will be £30 more than last year.... .despite the fact I've never even used them with this new car..in fact never even used them with the last car, and I had that 10 years....

I immediately rang them and said I'm not prepared to pay this extra cost, and so perhaps there's something I can take off my Silver service cover that maybe I don't necessarily need...

Anyway very quickly after a little discussion between us , she returned and not only had she kept all of my cover that..is home start, collection for me and passengers wherever I may break down and then taken to my destination. and or a garage... and provision of a courtesy car in the meantime. and a few other things.. up to 3 times a year

She not only kept those things for me.. but she cancelled the £30 increase and further reduced the price of the cover by another £5 making it £5 cheaper than last year..

So..in essence .. AA silver cover is now costing me £122... whereas last year it cost £127.... and this year they were about to add another £30 to it..making a total of £157 for the year.. and because I called and spoke nicely.. they removed all that and now my renewal for the year will be just £122.00 .If I had let them just autmaticlaly renew , I'd have been out of pocket by £35...

It always pays to ask... this week alone £60... just by making 2 phone calls... (y)
