That's a lot of snow, HL. Do you often get snow in your area or was this a rarity due to the recent polar storm?
We never get this much. It is a rarity in Eastern NC.
When we do its because it comes off the coast like a Noreaaster. This time it came in and met very cold temps and snow from the west.

Good afternoon, everyone. It was really cold this morning at 21 degrees and wind chill at 13. It will be cold tonight, too. Here in Florida, we are experiencing this cold unusual weather even as far South as Miami.

Anyway, we had company this morning and then went out for lunch. I am happy to see you all posting and sounding well.

Stay happy and warm if in the freezing weather. The best to all of you. :)

an update from my morning post
Marcia came to pick me up without hubby, Dave, he wasn't; feeling well.Bill walked out without a coat and told us he had been coughing/sneezing wouldn't coming either. After church, I asked Mary Jane& boy friend, Bob if they would like to join Marcia&me for brunch, they readily accepted, thanked me They have been here before for lunch but never brunch
When I came back to my apt, took a short nap and then decided to take another walk because it was a sunny day went around the building again, temp a bit warmer 15

Got dressed, warmed up the car (surprised it started in the frigid weather) and drove to church. There wasn't a car in the parking lot, so I figured services were cancelled even though I was never notified. Turned around and came home.
Hi Deb ,doesn't; your church notify members that church service would be closed, how inconsiderate
In my church, we get weekly E Newsletter,if the weather is bad like last Sun,we were notified, Last Sun are church was closed instead we did a Zoom service for 25 min, those members who stayed we chatted for about 20min. Its great way to stay connected Sue

Wifey ditched me, she went to church. Oh well somebody had to ski. We did try to attend and paid for tickets to a charity event where local potters make bowls and others make soup. It was far too crowded for me so we beat it. Checked the po box and headed home.

Hung a new piece of art, straightened up a bit, did chores and thinking about dinner now. Our daughter picked a wedding date, late June, 2027 so asked my 3 sisters to come. The oldest has never been here so I'm excited.

I know several of you are going through hard times and losses so I'm praying for strength for all concerned.

Very crowded today.......on Upper Graduate

Glades near Graduate, prime territory on powder days.

Frechmantrees2126cropped.jpg

The dead trees aka as snags are Douglas-fir that was infected w dwarf mistletoe which causes the brooms - the clusters of branches. These trees have been infested w various bark beetles and further stressed by persistent drought - the new normal as it were. Many dead and dying trees have been cut and removed forming the glades.

The tall skinny live trees in the foreground are subalpine fir, a true fir and the bushier ones are more Doug-fir.

Good afternoon Peeps of SF...🙋‍♀️. I slept late this morning... I felt pretty poorly when I went to bed and then I had terribly strange dreams... very weird... and no real reason for it. I hadn't taken any meds or anything...

Today is very grim...overcast and yuck !

I had 3 deliveries today... all came at once, only one was expected today...so that's good, it saves me being concerned they'll come when I'm out this week

DD took little lenny and his surrogate mama Pixie to the doggie adventure playground yesterday... Pixie is 15... Lenny is 7 months and keeps growing every day even tho' he's a miniature poodle... he's much bigger than the chihuhua

Good Morning Everyone. !!!

What ?? Where is everyone???

Another cold day in NW. PA, slow flakes of snow falling.

Hubby & I went shopping yesterday,, The farm store for bird seed.
He went to Harbor Freight & I went to Ollie's Good Stuff Cheap!
Had a discount card & bought some things I didn't need.
Did get a new sweat shirt for $5 & picked up a novel $2. 99.

And bought Mac a red winter type sweater & some cheap 'doggie boots'.
I think he likes the sweater ,,,,,, the boots,,,,, those will be a learning experience for both of us.

Tried putting the boots on him,,, once on, they didn't stay on long.

Hope all is well with everyone?

It was closed last week and I was notified. It could be an error on my part. I just assumed if no cars there, the church was closed. I didn't actually walk to the door and try it. Someone could have been there that was dropped off and the driver had gone to get something. I just don't know.
I found out there was church. My aunt called me last evening and said that the person that comes early to open the door was late because she had to stop and get some items for the food fellowship. I guess I was just too impatient.

Morning all, also had trouble early this morning getting on
I didn't; go out for my usual early walk at 6:50 it was too cold ,7 instead I changed my bed sheets, turned the mattress. At 9:30 I did go outside, temp was 14 sun shining with a slight breeze as I went around the building twice felt great. . The high today in mid 20's which will feel 'balmy' after the past week temps in the teens or single digits
The rest of my day, do todays' NYT crossword puzzle online, read my book
Everybody have a good day

yes maybe.. but very strange don't you think that there was no cars in the car park... surely no-one else knew the person opening up was going to be late !

Let me clarify - there is a Bible study at 9 am just before the main service that I attend. Not the all congregation goes to that. Right now it about 5 people, so that early there usually aren't that many cars, but the person that opens the door is usually always there by 9 am because she has to get things ready for the after service brunch. When I didn't see her car there, it made me question if the service had been cancelled.

I'm doing good I got some banking done today not much else, Had a surprise a little bit ago my Barber'ess Stop by with some fresh made dinner rolls That was nice of her.
It is now 38 degrees out so some snow is melting again. Getting ready to take a shower and then maybe start some laundry This site sure is slow today Oh well I am too, See you later...

The Roundhouse which is a reservations only restaurant, that is typically booked out for every seating. It's open for lunch and dinner. It's accessed from the gondola so non-skiers can be accommodated. There is a great bar downstairs called Averell's, after W Avrerell Harriman a wealthy scion connected with the Union Pacific Railroad that basically started Sun Valley as an attraction for rail travel.

It would have made a nice wedding setting for my daughter, but she's sensible w the $$$.

1. I got to turn the spigots off and close the doors on the cabinets because we are warming up to about 45° today.

2. Fed the horses.

3. Got my chiropractic adjustment and my spinal decompression.

4. Spent $300 on horse feed, dog feed and birdseed at tractor supply. $50 of that was a gift card.

5. Filledmy car up with gas again at Kroger, only took a quarter tank, but this time of year I like to keep it full.

6. Stocked up on groceries. I should be good for a month. I hope. Evidently some of the Kroger trucks couldn’t get through because certain items were off the shelf while others were stocked full, so that can only mean that they don’t all come in on the same semi.

7. Took the expensive little penlight back to the body shop, where the young lad left it on the windshield wiper of my car when I got it fixed the other day; got the door fixed not the windshield wiper.

8. Got home and gave the horses a late lunch since my thin guy now has to eat three times a day.

9. I’m done until it’s time to go back to the barn to give them their supper which is meal number three.

10. It is supposed to be in the 40s, maybe even the low 50s the rest of this week. That means I need to be outside doing something and messing up my back for the chiropractor to fix me again next Monday.🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️

That's a big day!

Wifey ditched me, she went to church. Oh well somebody had to ski.
😁 I really needed a laugh, @againstthegrain; thanks for that! I would have skiied, too.

I continue to be envious of you and your skiing. I miss it so much. I'm in one of the flattest states in the union (North Dakota). There is a small ski facility nearby, but the cold is often too extreme for any outdoor activity. So I vicariously enjoy it through your posts and photos.

I'm looking forward to catching up on this thread, been having a bit of a rough stretch lately and haven't been here in a few days.

I hope everyone has been well.

I got a few things done today..not much.. but little bits ..like I put a little jelly like bumper strip on my glass living room door... because the little sideboard that sits behind it is just an inch too large for the space so the door when opened wide hits it.....not any more

Put new rubber protector mats under the microwave, and the toaster...

I cooked chicken thighs for dinner...

I gathered up some more things for Charity Donations...

Sorted out some photos into my External HD

..and the day seems to have gone very fast.... it's almost 1/2 past midnight now...

Thanks it's fun for sure. There is nothing quite like being immersed in any activity, but skiing is kinda special.

Hi everyone!

I've had a couple of rough days, nothing serious, but I'm back now. Mostly, my issues revolved around my bad knee and my Wi-Fi going on strike at the same time. My knee is better this morning and I'm going to try to stay off of the acetaminophen today. My Wi-Fi seems to be behaving today also.....so far!

The cold snap is over and it's going to start getting warmer, now. The piles of snow have started to slide off of our roof, and have been hitting the ground with a big "whoooomph"!!!

BTW: remember my missing dust rag? Yesterday, Dio found it! It hadn't gone to Argentina, after all!
