How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2026....

Good Morning to everyone. It is warm again today at 84 degrees. We will be going to Waffle House for lunch.

The community pool is open and yesterday some cute teenage girls were walking up to it in tiny tiny bikinis. Young children must have an adult with them. The little ones like to splash a lot. I do not use it but I see the people in it as we drive by.

Have a good day and stay well, everyone.

I'm not quite as crabby as I was yesterday, ha ha! I did have to put off my trip to see the grandchildren; boo. It's just not worth trying to navigate the interstate in freezing rain. I can wait a week. I don't want to, but I will.

I've been trying to get caught up on work because I am meeting a friend for coffee tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to that. However, I may take a break soon and watch a movie or read, or just take some quiet time.

I hope everyone is having a great day.

Left: The 2 batteries for the remote-controlled automatic gate are lasting about 5 years. The last time, it costs me over $300.
I took plenty of pictures, and so this time, I did it by myself at a cost of $40 for the 2 new batteries. They are located in the
back of the panel. Right: I fixed a leak by myself. But since it costs only $20 to seal it, I may bring the tire away in future.

Left: my 6 y/o grandson scored another home-run yesterday. Right: My older daughter (the smallest) is with friends in
Arizona. At her age, I stopped inquiring what she is doing but hope she will tell me. Both pictures copied from the iPhone.

If you are cold, then come and visit me. In summer we have had it up to a fraction below 120 degrees.

On my desktop, cranking through post processing a huge number of image files from the 5-day road trip I returned from yesterday. Will be working on this for weeks. Despite the 310 mile drive, ($150 round trip gasoline) am considering heading back south by midweek as conditions are peaking at the location I yesterday posted an image of and the horrible current wind will be dying down. Such peaking blooms occur only once or twice a decade after wet winters and only last a few days at peak aesthetic levels, so its now or never. The dirt roads in such landscapes are horribly dusty so my white car is rather brown.

For any of you Southern California members that may wish to see this world class natural wonder, below is a Photoshop color enhanced satellite view from yesterday March 13, 2026 showing where the main poppy bloom is. The best blooms are NOT at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve (only a modest bloom there so far), but rather along highway CA138 aka Avenue D between 125th and 140th Streets. The blue dot is where I took the shot posted yesterday. Since news media has been posting info this last week, there are likely mobs driving about there this weekend. Most of the roads are dirt roads, with many quite negotiable with 2WD. Note one can disperse camp in many of these areas that is mostly BLM.

Likely attend a club venue tomorrow Monday evening, for a GD jam band.

G'morning Peeps of SF..... 🌺

It's dry and fairly sunny , and breezy... but no strong winds like yesterday... temps are at 11 deg...

My gardener just rang.. he was supposed to be coming to do the first cuts of the year, tomorrow... and we start off the year the way he's been in the past, by cancelling.. and asking if he can come another day.

I specifically told him last week that tomorrow would be the day to start because the grass will have dried out by then.... but no.. here we go again.. back on that roundabout ....even tho' just 2 weeks ago when I spoke to him on the phone.. about being more reliable , he practiclly begged me not to sack him...

So... I told him he better come on the day that's he's promised he will... and when he does I'm going to have serious words with him, because I'm the customer, he's supposed to come when I want him to.. not the other way around !... and he may well find himself out of a job...

Have a super start to the week folks.... 🌺

Drives me nuts when that happens. At least he called you. I have had times when they just didn't show up after you stay home all day and wait. For nothing. Assuming you are shopping around for a different gardener?

Holly,, your yard man sounds like the mechanic hubby asked to help repair our trucks.

"I' be here Wednesday". That day rolls around,,no mechanic.
Hubby grumbles all day about. "no show" workers.

This morning hubby is up helping our nephew who has had tall trees blown down.
Weather isn't helping,,off/on rain & wind.

Crossing fingers that no one gets hurt.
Nephew is 60,,never been around to learn how to operate a power saw.

Hope everyone is having better weather than North West PA.

The trouble is he's been doing this for at least 2 years... and finally I told him any more and he's gone.. and he said he didn't want to lose this job and he would be more reliable. That was just 2 weeks ago, and now with the first job of the year he's done it again...

Good morning to everyone. It is not a good morning here as our air conditioning unit quit working and our bathroom plug-in is not working either. We think it is a short power outage that caused this. The electrician is coming later this morning. I expect it will cost a lot.

It seems that one cannot expect everything to go right.

Anyway, hope all of you have a good day.

I just was fitting some under counter strip lights in the new utility room, when I got a call to tell me my Ex Husband, DD's father, has died.

I've spoken of him on here before.. he lived alone just 500 yards from me, but he had serious COPD and was recovering from prostate cancer. he was 69 years old.
It's so hard to think of him, the big strong, man that he was when we were married, to the frail thin guy he became as the illness took hold. he was fiercely independant, but eventually he couldn't leave his flat, and I would fetch things for him. ..but there was never more than a couple of weeks when he wasnt rushed into hospital because he couldn't breathe..

He's out of pain now... and I'm so sad he had to suffer like that... .. another part of my life gone... :(

I didn't realize he lived so close. Sorry for your loss. 💐

I feel like I'm on the show 'Pickers' in my own house. The things (memories) I'm finding!
There are two wooden lockers, like boxes, that have been in the back of the garage closet for the thirty something years we've lived here. I always wondered what DH stored in there.

I got everything pulled out away from it and like Geraldo Rivera I slowly opened the top one. Some linoleum pieces and a battery backup for a computer. Ugh.
The second one had the treasure. The kids remote control cars that I have searched for twenty or more years. I have the controllers and batteries but the cars vanished..... And I knew I didn't get rid of them. I'll get the girls in on seeing if they'll work. Doubt it unless I buy new batteries. Probably not worth it.

The other thing was all the model rocket stuff. One box new. My son wants that. Those are his good memories.
Loads of work but fun.

COPD is a terrible way to die. My BIL passed from that. A death by inches following years of struggling for breath.

My condolences to you and your daughter. It's always difficult to say a permanent goodbye, even to exes.

I sorted laundry and got two bags ready to go downstairs. Of course I'll only take one per day, so if I'm going to get somewhat caught up, I'll have to go downstairs twice this week. I couldn't go this morning because it was pouring down raining. I had no choice but to refill my pill cases this morning. I put it off for almost a week, thus had used almost all from my emergency case, which I don't like doing. I have to make some more calls....already called my GD and HS#3 this morning. I also have to place an online order for a couple of medications.

You're correct Star.. it was horrible last few years of his life, desperate for every breath.... and yet he really thought he would get better, even tho' I knew he wouldn't.... it was just heartbreaking. thank you for the thoughts... I really am very sad he's died...

Sounds like he may have a substance abuse issue (?). I speak from experience in missing deadlines. I nearly derailed my career. I had to spend a couple of years scrubbing toilets and mopping floors at a local factory as I painstakingly resurrected it.
