Most garden centers, hardware stores...places where you buy lawnmowers help you fix issues like that. Might just be a loose connection somewhere, or poor fitting, and they'll fix it. They at least check it out.

Do they do that there?
yes the garden centres don't because they're all boutique styles places now.... but there are lawnmower hardware shops in other towns, so it might be worth me taking it there.

I finally got all of the back lawn cut... just before it got dark. It'll need going over again just to tidy it all up, but at least for now it's cut. I'll go over it again when it's not raining

I still have the front to do.

I looked up the reviews of it, and people are saying.. it's an appalling piece of work for the price, as it wasn't cheap.. the battery last just 15 minutes and it's completely underpowered... for any kind of long grass even it's highest setting..

While I was struggling with the nonsense lawnmower..in between having it recharging .. I peeled all the kilos' of veggies I bought for pennies... and cooked them all.. 4 pounds of Carrots, 4 1/2 lbs Potatoes, and 2 lbs Parsnips..... , and they're now all bagged and in the freezer....

I'm definitely not buying another battery for this lawnmower... it's gonna go to the tip... but the trouble is, I'm loathe to buy a more expensive Mower in case I move to an apartment...
If your battery is dying that quickly each time after a full charge then it seems you've got a defective battery (that's what happens to those lithium batteries when they're dying - won't hold a charge.)
You've had that mower & battery less than 1 year. Is there not at least a 1 year manufacturer's warranty on both the mower and battery? There should be in which case you should be able to send the battery back for a new one at no cost to you.

I have no idea, for the life of me I can't remember wher I bought it, except that it was online......It wasn't amazon I checked that... but where it was I have no idea...

Good afternoon Peeps of SF..on this beautiful sunny Easter Sunday....

I was going to mow the front lawn today, but 2 reasons I haven't , one because I find that if I've done a lot the day before... I just have no energy the next day.... and 2 ..I thought , maybe just give my neighbours a little peace on a Easter Sunday...

It is a lovely day... and the tulips and crocuses... are all in bloom

My lillies shouldn't be far behind if this sunshine keeps up...

Have a lovely Easter weekend folks.... 🌞🌷

Good Easter morning to everyone. It is sunny and will be 84 degrees this afternoon.

I had the dumb idea yesterday and moved some debris near my driveway over to the lawn for the pickup by the garbage. It was a mess and I drug most of it. There was a good sized log and I moved that, too. Some of the debris (lawn sticks mostly) sticks out a little in the road. I am so little and cannot do much hard work but I did do this. I feel fine this morning but thought I might not be able to walk today.

I hope all of you enjoy this special day. :)

Yesterday I spent most of the day repricing our line because of increased costs from our vendors and contractors. Not a joyful undertaking, believe me. Rather than rehash it, I'll just include a link for anyone interested.

Rising prices - Wow!, post #287

I'm looking forward to a nice day today. Hope all who celebrate Easter have a joyful day. Same to those who don't celebrate it.

talking of repricing, I was watching a short video today of a wholesale greengrocer.. and he was saying how much his stock has increased in price for him to buy from the growers just since last week.

Fr example last week it cost £9.90 for a box of Brocolli... ..today it cost him £24.00.. £15.00 a box dearer....same with all his other produce.. so of course that's going to have to be passed onto the supermarkets and utlimately to the customer

That's an increase of 166% in one week....

Not familiar with battery lawnmowers but immediately reads like a battery deep discharge issue. Some types of batteries need to be periodically discharged some and then recharged lest battery chemistry gradually forms resistive structures that wastes power inside itself instead at the equipment its connected to. Suggest searching with the lawnmower product part number to find it a can be gradually repaired by running battery discharge/charge cycles. The lawnmower dealer may have more servicing information.

Google AI:

Yes, cordless battery lawnmowers must be used and charged regularly to maintain battery health, especially during the off-season
. Allowing lithium-ion batteries to sit discharged, or storing them in extreme heat/cold, can cause permanent damage, reducing their lifespan. Charge batteries every 30-60 days during winter and after every use during the mowing season.
Key Battery Maintenance Tips:

Charge Regularly: Do not leave the battery dead. Charge it after each use to keep it ready.
Storage: Store batteries in a cool, dry place when not in use, and avoid keeping them on the charger indefinitely.
Winter Care: During winter, check the charge level every 30-60 days and ensure they stay above 50% charge to prevent over-discharge.
Let it Cool: Allow the battery to rest for 10-15 minutes after mowing before plugging it in to charge, as charging hot batteries accelerates degradation.
Keep it Clean: Regularly check for corrosion on the terminals and remove grass or dirt.

A cordless mower that runs for a short time after sitting idle for a year likely has a battery that has suffered from
deep discharge, resulting in reduced capacity or dead cells. The battery may show full charge but fail under load, often requiring a new battery, or it could be a simple issue like stuck blades, dirty terminals, or a tripped safety switch.
Key Troubleshooting Steps:

Check the Battery Under Load: The battery may show a full charge (green lights) but lack the amperage to run under load. Test it with another battery or take it to an auto parts/hardware store for a load test.
Recondition the Battery: Try running several full charge/discharge cycles. Some smart chargers can recondition batteries that have been sitting, but a battery left uncharged for a year may be permanently damaged.
Clean and Check Terminals: Inspect the battery contacts on both the battery and the mower for corrosion. Clean them with a wire brush or emery cloth.
Check for Physical Obstructions: Ensure no rust or debris is preventing the motor from turning freely. A stuck blade or dirty deck puts immediate, heavy strain on the battery.
Storage Tips: In the future, never store batteries fully discharged. Store them at 50-70% charge in a cool, dry place and top them off every 30 days.

If the mower cuts out after a few minutes, the battery cannot hold a charge and likely needs replacement. If it stops immediately, it may be a faulty safety key or handle switch.

Had my entire family over today, four daughters and spouses and six grandchildren. Instead of my usual purchase of a Honey baked ham, we did takeout pizza, salads and sandwiched. The kids (almost age 3 to almost age 16) had a great time including an Easter egg hunt! The grownups had a great time too! I just sat there most of the time and took in the noise, the louder the better, of people having fun and enjoying life!!! Usually it's just me and my dog.

I flew to San Diego on 3/26, spent a couple of days there and boarded a ship to Mexico with a couple of friends. I returned last night, so today was my first day back at home. I got a lot accomplished. Completely unpacked. Did laundry. Went grocery shopping for the week. It was beautiful outside, so I washed Hubby's car by hand. I haven't done that in ages, but the car washes were closed. I'm ready for the week ahead.

How was the cruise?

Today was laundry day. I straightened up a bit, gave the commode a thorough cleaning, plus added a Clorox tablet that makes the water blue to the tank and a Lysol hanging toilet deodorizer. I also disassembled Deja's fountain, washed all parts and filled the tank with filtered water. I think it's a form of entertainment for Deja to watch the water flowing from the spout. When it doesn't (because the water level is too low), she stands there looking perplexed and meows several times for me to take care of it.

I spent most of yesterday working, trying to catch up on an overdue book. Each chapter has been a bear. It's an authored book, not edited, so each chapter has a different author. I keep hoping the next one will be in better shape, but so far . . . no. So today I will continue to race and try to get them finished. I'm hoping by the end of the week.

I had invitations to join two different friends for Easter celebrations, but I really need to get this project finished. The day was brightened by 20 photos of my grandchildren texted by my older daughter. She actually got the 18-month-old twins to sit still for a few minutes! That's more than I was able to do during my recent visit.

I was giddily excited to get a note from The Ocean Liner Society saying that an extra Zoom talk by Bill Miller ("Mr. Ocean Liner"—I have several of his books) may be available from Ships Dorset and that we could write them and ask for a link. I just heard back, and they kindly provided said link. So now I have two Bill Miller talks to look forward to: the Ships Dorset one on April 11 and the Ocean Liner Society one on April 21.😊 🚢If only I could get there in person. Someday.

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter and is having a good Monday.

Good morning! It looks like we have an overworked Easter Bunny!!! Well, at least he can rest up for the next year. 😆

The Easter Bunny isn't the only one who had a busy day, yesterday.....

Yesterday, my day started with the usual exercises, then a trip into town to get gas for the lawnmower. So, of course, we stopped for coffee first! LOL

After we got home, I started to make dinner. It was better than expected. I had a left over, roasted chicken breast in the freezer. I didn't know what to do with it because neither of us are thrilled with leftover chicken (unless it's in a casserole or soup, etc). I just warmed it up in some gravy, along with some stuffing on the side, and spinach with cheese. We finished it all, and I was glad to get it out of my freezer. I even cleaned up the kitchen and did dishes right away! 😮

I spent some time in the afternoon, "playing" in the garden. I put out the decorations, and I did some more weeding and clearing of winter debris. Most importantly, I made a "bunny cage" to protect my tea rose, since it keeps on getting eaten!!!! 🐇 My columbine is huge, and in full bloom!!! That was just something that happened to come up last year, from a package of mixed seeds. It's gorgeous!!! I tried to take a picture, but the lighting wasn't very good.

When I was done working for the day, I was going to go for my walk. Unfortunately, I had had enough of tree pollen for the day, so I called it quits.

I ended up reading my library book and watching a TV show......then off to bed!

1775476144594.gif It's supposed to be another nice day today, and I have no idea what I will get into! 1775476209499.png

Morning all, on my early walk at 6:50 temp was 34, as I walked around the building complex as the sun was trying to peak through the clouds
My plans today, taking the Gates van at 9:30 have a dentist appt at 10-cleaning.I may walk home depending what the weather is like/or call front desk to be picked up
When I get back ,see what today's lunch& dinner menu looks like, read my book, tackle today's NYT crossword puzzle online, every day I do the other games on Times website, Spelling Bee, mini crossword, Wordle
Everybody have a good day

Good afternoon peeps of SF.... 🌞

It's a glorious day here today and they forecast the next few days to be even more hot and sunny....

I went over to the woods behind my house this morning and took some photos of the early Bluebells. Normally they're not out until May, but we've had such warm weather throughout March everything is blooming early..

I got woken this morning by my neighbours gardener, mowing and talking very loudly as he always does... so much for a Holiday lie in...

@seadoug ..oooh you're so lucky, I do envy your wonderful trips, pleased you had a great time...

@David777 ...thank you for that information re the lawnmower.. I knew most of it already, but I had never heard about leaving the battery for 15 minutes after charging before putting into the mower... I've used battery mowers for many years, and this is the first time I;ve had a problem...

Good morning to everyone. It is another warm day at 80 degrees. We are supposed to get a little rain today.

I went out yesterday to water my gardenia plant and there was one flower on it. I was surprised as it usually doesn't bloom until late April or early May. It was almost like saying, "Happy Easter".

I hope you all have a good day. :)

@hollydolly those are very pretty photos.

Happy Easter Monday, SFers. Hope all had a great day yesterday.

My area is expecting great weather throughout this week - highs in the 70s throughout. We may even have rain next weekend. 🤞 Yippee for water from the sky in April! Love seeing that in the forecast.

Some minor business bits today, including composing a cover letter for our price increase spreadsheet that will go out to our customers tomorrow. There's just no way to pretty up some things.

The littles don't go back to daycare/preschool until the 13th so we'll surely have one or both at least a couple of days between now and then. Not today though.

Please try to make today a good one, friends. ❤️
